I'm sure this has been discussed previously, but can someone give me the pro's and con's of M-Life vs. Total Rewards? I have been splitting play between the two and am thinking it is time to play at one or the other and seeking opinions about strengths of each. Thank you.

It seems rather easy to get cheap or comp rooms thru CET vs MLIFE. Overall mlife has more nice properties but free can trump luxury. I like being able to book comp rooms easily with CET. The mlife website sucks.

It depends on your game and bet levels. For me, CET is a more obvious choice but if you aren't a low level penny slot player like me, my experience won't matter. It would probably help if you focus on one until you feel established with one but you need to give more info to get a better recommendation.

I am a Total Rewards guy.. but honestly it is because I started there and once you start getting free rooms it is hard to go pay for them
That and the fact that Total rewards gives you up to 5 days compd (I have only heard of 3 day compd offers from Mlife unless a host alters it and holds you to expectations)

How much would you have to gamble at say MGM or Monte Carlo to get 5 nights free?

Would 1k a day on slots or blackjack get you there? (I understand how ADT works and that 1k can be 1k or 50k by the time your done but I am just looking for an approx.)

I am Platinum mLife and don't get 5 nights free unless I arrange it in advance with my host.

mLife properties are "more upscale" than CET properties, but if all you want is a place to lay your head and a decent pool, CET will do.

It really depends on whether you like playing Sooooo much at an mlIfe casino that you want to change.

$1k day budget on slots would probably make it (a 3 day) at Monte Carlo, and maybe MGM, but Mirage, Aria or Bellagio, probably not. $1k day on table games, you're probably looking at Luxor or Excalibur.

    Thanks Dailun.
When in Vegas I usually earn 1k tier credits at a TR casino a day playing mostly slots and the odd table game. I seldom have lost more then 1k in a day but would have a bankroll of 3k a day usually.
That said I would not want to gamble as hard at another casino if I was not likely to get hotel stays for free on my next trip
I mostly just want a change as I have been staying at TR casinos for like 8 years now (1-3 trips a year) always 5 nights.
I have stayed at almost every TR casino for free (never at the Nabo in Caesar's).

If Mlife does not offer free rooms for 5 nights at that level, is there any other players club card that does?

I get offers for five free days at Monte Carlo every quarter used it twice but for less than the five offered. I don't know why I get them if very few others are, my budget for gaming is usually 500-600 a day. We do usually see a couple of shows and bring one of our children and put all of that on the Mlife card. I assume that we are paying for a second room has a lot to do with it along with putting food and shows for four. But I hear that gambling means more than hotel and food.

We are in the same boat. We always go for 5 nights and always get them comped at Planet Hollywood. The most I have been able to get comped at MGM is 3 nights. The fact that my wife loves the casino and vibe at PHO I doubt we would stray from CET.

I keep hearing that MLIFE is more upscale than CET, but I don't really buy it. The Linq / PH / Caesars are all nicer than Luxor, Exalibur, NYNY, Circus Circus, Monte Carlo and are probably in the same range as Mirage. Yes, Bellagio and Aria are both nicer than anything CET has to offer (though Cromwell probably is some compeition), and Caesars isn't that much of a step down.

And yeah, I've only ever gotten 3 nights MAX at Mlife while I can get any CET property for 5 nights comp'd without issue (minus Cromwell, it's hit or miss. Some weeks I have to pay $200 a night while other weeks I can get 3 nights free. I'd never stay there anyways).

    Guy,

Well, let me state that I travel to LV frequently enough (6-10 times a year) and NEVER stay 5 nights. This June/July will be an exception and I'm staying Downtown for 2 nights and them moving up to the strip for the other 3.

IMHO, it's difficult to do what you're trying to do. But you could try to "leverage" your switch with an mLife property. (ex. I'm an xxxxx TR member and thinking of switching over . . . yada, yada, yada)

What mLife property were you thinking of? I have asked my host at MGM what kind of play you would need to get 5 day comps at MGM. (In Tier Credit terms)

    Thanks Dailun,

I am not really sure what exactly I am looking for.
I am going to Vegas at the end of May Staying at Flamingo this trip (Mostly because there is a group of people coming that I don't normally go with who are not gamblers at all and they wanted cheap rooms)

The last couple times I have stayed at Caesars Agustus tower.
I would like to try MGM Grand as it is a large casino but not overly lavish. (I am a simple kind of guy who goes out of his way to find burger and pizza joints :p)

Because I travel from Ontario Canada, Going for 2 days just does not make much sense for me.
By the time you factor in airport time, customs, flight etc. each way ends up being 3/4s of a day

P.S. I wish I could go to Vegas 6-10 times a year! I love that place!

This subject comes up every other month here.
DaiLun came up with a comparison based on personal experience.
As a 10+ year diamond with CET I moved to MLife.
There are other people that moved from MLife to TR.
This debate will rage on for years to come and it is totally subjective
I will disagree with one thing. The high end resorts at MLife are way above those at CET.The mid level(Mirage and MGM) ones compete well with CP and PH.
The lack of reinvestment in the properties is really starting to show.

Absolutely in agreement that it is really a personal preference!!!! The first order of business should be "where do you feel lucky?".

Wynn offers me a lot of Freeplay, but for me, they are very "tight", so unless I really, really, REALLY need to stay there . . Wynn is not at the top of my list.

For many, many years, I haven't felt "lucky" at any CET properties. This year I hit a $10k jackpot at Harrah's Reno, so I started playing at CET properties. I have made DAL1 (Diamond Aspiration Level 1) after my last trip.

I will probably try to retain my Platinum rating at mLife, at least this year. Since I only travel to Las Vegas in 2-3 day increments, mLife's 3 day comp policy fits in with my trip planning.

Look at my subjective comparison between TR Diamond and mLife Platinum and part of my opinion is driven by the number of trips I make to las Vegas each year.

I would agree with that. The main reason I like TR is that they have casinos in Tahoe and Reno which are within acouple hours of my house. I only go to Vegas maybe 2-3 times a year, but I go to Tahoe maybe 20+ times a year. And free rooms, food, play, and gifts everytime I go up is a nice starter for my trips.

To me,this is a reason to stay with CET.
I used to play at Harrahs in AC and easily retained Diamond based on my play there.
When I moved to Borgata, next door,no more reason to play at any CET property.

Couldn't disagree more. Actually, I agree with the first statement (excluding Linq). The top two CET properties are nicer than the bottom five MGM properties. But what does it say when even by your own assessment, the top two CET properties are on par with the fifth (arguably fourth) rated MGM property? When you get down to the lower tier properties, both companies are pretty comparable (the MGM properties you listed on one side and Harrahs, Ballys, Flamingo, and Rio on the other side). And there's nothing wrong with that. As others have said, its all about preference. But for the upscale category, CET just doesn't , by any standard, compare to MGM. Its pretty much the newer CP towers versus Aria, Bellagio, and the Skylofts/Mansion.

For me I think in am kind of stuck with CET. I only started playing enough there a few years ago (I have no idea why I started playing at CET) and started getting free room offers from them and only so so offers from MLIFE. And I now have a host at CET and I am staying at the Cromwell my next trip, which is good enough for me. I have not played enough at MGM to get any offers that match what I can get at CET. I don't go often enough (2x per year max) that MLIFE will do anything for me.
