Opinions of Casino @ Venetian/Palazzo compared to Wynncore

My wife would like to venture out and try V/P for slots this trip. Opinions of the casino regarding, slots, CW service and general vibe please....

 

My opinions:

Hard to put into words for me. I have stayed/played at both and continue to do so each trip.

I see Wynncore as "more snooty" and upscale.

Venetian/Palazzo seems more "down to earth" but still has an "air of class".

Customer service (including the Grazie/Red Card booths and cocktail service) at either place is very good.

The Wynn has one of the 3 best buffets in Las Vegas.

V/P has no buffets but both Venetian and Palazzo have "Grand Luxe cafes" which provide "down to earth" meals. Venetian as the Asia Noodle cafe, which serves Asian cuisine. Wynn has an Asian cafe, but I've never eaten there.

Both have a wide variety of slots. Encore is the smallest of the 4 casinos. Venetian and Palazzo are near equal and Wynn a close third.

 

I enjoy Wynncore more. I used to like gaming at V/P but for whatever reason when I played there on a recent trip I didn't like the place anymore. Dealers were brick walls, players were either miserable or screamers. Seriously there were more screamers there than I've ever heard even at the smaller joints. Venetian felt a lot more cramped than I remember. The ridiculous number of 6:5 BJ tables annoyed the crap out of me.

I've had some bad experiences at Wynncore too, but I'd still much rather gamble there than V/P.

I don't really play slots so YMMV.

 

I can't compare to Wynn specifically as I haven't played there enough, but I have just started switching my play over to V/P.

- I switched to V/P because the slot floor combined is huge, I think it's the largest slot floor of the Vegas casino's. You simply can't get bored here and so can easily keep all your play for a trip to one slot loyalty program. (1247 slots at Venetian and 1048 slots at Palazzo)
- Anytime new slots start hitting casino floors in Vegas, V/P is one of the first to get them. It's my understanding they have contracts with the slot manufacturers, that although I'm not sure of the specifics, must include some clause to ensure they get them first or near first at least for some manufacturers.
- The vibe of the two casino's are entirely different. Venetian is a lot more lively, busy - at times overstimulating - but fun. Palazzo is a lot less busy and much more quiet, great when you don't want the overstimulation.
- As for drink service, certain banks of slots, but not all, have a feature on them called "Drinks 2 u". In the area of where the card reader display is, you simply push the drinks 2 u button. You will get a menu asking what you want to drink. Every option imaginable is on here....beer, wine, cocktails, hot beverages - and how you like them, are all given. You just make your selection and a short while later your drink is delivered to your machine! No more waiting for the C/W just to get your order placed!

Overall, I've really enjoyed giving my play there and found the service in general really good. My last trip I always had a c/w come by even when I was at the drinks 2 u machines, slot hosts would come by - they were all very attentive. Highly recommend!

V/P: for past 2 years we get better comps at V/P, so they win.

Both places have great restaurants...but Wynn Encore has higher class of players.

venetian recently remodeled all rooms and casino floor - so no smoke smell.

Encore started to remodel rooms and TECH

given choice - if all were comped I would select Wynn Encore

 

I've stayed at Venetian twice, Wynn once, and Encore once.

I think Wynn/Encore is slightly more upscale and elegant with a calmer atmosphere than Venetian.

Drink service is about the same, and so are the slots. You'll see the same games over and over in every strip casino. A lot of them have a recent movie or TV show theme and are very fancy mulitmedia setups, radically different from the old 3 wheel slots.

 

V/P has been better to me with their comps. No comped drinks while playing bartop vp at Wynncore.

 

As VegasChic pointed out, you really get two casinos for the price of one at VP, so you can take your pick.

The Venetian casino - low ceiling, darker, more packed in, more crowded and noisier.
Palazzo - high ceiling, brighter, airy, feels more spacious, less crowded and less noisy.

 

Last time I was at the Wynn I couldn't even find a 3/2 bj table. 25-100 min

 

you'll probably get more benefits through grazie then at wynn, unless you're a really big player. v/p isn't what it used to be though, the hotel/casino has dramatically declined in quality as of late. last time I played at v/p, they didn't have good rules on bj, unless you played $100 and higher. even at $50 tables it was b.s rules and 6:5. imo, mlife properties have the best table games rules for the less than $100 but $25 and higher player. I've lost $10k at wynn throughout a weekend playing bj and they don't care/comp much as my $10k is nothing to them.

 

As for the casinos Venetian seems like they squeezed as many slots in there as they possibly could. Just seems cramped for my tastes, but a great selection of games if you can find the one you're looking for. Palazzo is more airy and better laid out and I would put it on par with Wynn although Wynn does seem a little nicer.

 

Full disclosure: I cannot STAND either Venetian or Palazzo at every level of the operation from their rooms/restaurants/casino/atmosphere etc etc etc. Basically, I despise V/P. I think it is a plastic looking establishment with zero content or class.

Since V/P and Wynncore are essentially on the same level in terms of table minimums etc, Wynncore offers a classier experience, 3/2 BJ ($15/min), MUCH less foot traffic and an overall better feel. The experience at the Encore casino is even better due to the open windows and "airy" feel it has. The only casino that comes close to Wynncore would be Aria (although that is a totally different feel) and Bellagio (if you can stand the extreme foot traffic).

 

I'm not fond of V/P casino. I would take my opinion with a grain of salt but for me it just has to do with the vibes....I always run so cold in anything I do there. That and the few times I've played craps there the dealer attitudes just didn't sit well with me so I haven't had a desire to return (at least to gamble, beautiful hotel with some great restaurants).

Wynn on the other hand I love the night time vibe there, the craps pit really gets going and I have never had a bad experience with dealers there.

*And a bit of a disclaimer you did say that you are playing slots there which of course is very different, and I don't know what level you play at but I'm a low level player (15-25 craps table player) so I can't speak on how a higher level player gets treated at either property.

 

I have stayed at Wynn twice and just came back from staying at the Palazzo for the first time. I play mainly slots. The variety is hard to beat at V/P but I still lean to Wynn. Both are nice. I also started to switch from CET to elsewhere -trying to find a new home. Wynn doesn't really give great offers or benefits to slot players unless you drop heavy coin. The best I get is an occasional stay with small amount of free play. V/P immediately sent me offers for slot tournaments, free play plus show tickets, nice rooms above standard, some f and b. I think the cocktail service at Wynn is far superior to V/P and it's true slots are too close together at V/P. But their players card has benefits you can at least figure out unlike Wynn. With respect to restaurants, both have variety but Wynn has the most better restaurants I have experienced. What is nice is, they are next to each other, so you can try both. Good luck !

 

I was making this decision recently myself. Had stayed at flamingo my first time and toured the hotels that I wanted to stay at the next go around. I felt like the V/P was crowded, hard to navigate, and very sparse drink service. I didn't stay in one of the rooms obviously and let me say they look great. I've read that the comps there are much tighter than wynn, but kind of depends who you ask and what day it is, right? I mean everyone has had this and that experience.

Wynn was open and beautiful. The casino was very impressive and the craps pit was awesome. I felt like the slots were the appropriate amount and not "how many can we fit in this place?". I got to tour the rooms and the pool. Not too shabby either in that regard. I read the comps are better here overall and the poker isn't bad. These are some of the things that jumped out to me.

I choose wynn. Staying in July. I expect it will be an awesome stay. I recombined you join the wynnsider club! I got a smoke'n deal through them. All that being said I didn't think V/P was a bad choice, but the casino is just a mess and I did read they weren't as good with comps.
