Need Recs for Solo Friendly Steakhouse

I want to visit a steakhouse for dinner one night next week, likely either Sunday or Monday. I'm staying at Aria but I'm open to other suggestions. My favorite steak is a dry-aged filet. I will be dining solo, but I'm undecided if I would dine at the bar or just sit at a table by myself.

I've been looking at menus from all of the different steakhouses but I still haven't come to a decision so I'm hoping the board can give me some recs. Anything with an old-school steakhouse type feel that is still upscale?

 

I've been solo at the bar at StripSteak a couple times before, and it's great. Friendly staff and great people-watching as entertainment. I'd have no problem eating solo at Jean Georges Steakhouse at Aria, either. Looking for the old-school feel, I think Jean Georges does that in a really upscale way. It's a very clubby space, like old-school steakhouses, but with a modern edge. I like the design a lot. Prime at Bellagio would be a bit ornate by comparison.

The bar at Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris is definitely one where you can eat solo, but it's a huge scene. Lots of people-watching and loud.

 

For old-school definitely Golden Steer.

 

I don't eat at steakhouses often, so I don't know what an "old school" steakhouse is, but for going solo, Jean Georges at Aria is very good. Obviously, its easy to get to since you're staying there, has a small bar with a friendly staff you can eat at, and the food is always good. I used to say Range was my favorite for solo dining, but its gone now. But I would say give Jean Georges a try

 

Jean Georges is a solid choice. There are others with more of an old school vibe, but in my experience the steaks pale in comparison.

 

Thanks all. It sounds like Jean Georges is a solid choice. I just wasn't sure based on the pics I've seen of the room how it would be solo, or if it would be noisy.

I had looked at Gordon Ramsey Steak but I'm think I'm ruling it out as it looks like it would be loud. And I'm sure that Golden Steer would be an experience but it's off-Strip and not exactly what I was hoping for this trip.


And I should have posted a disclaimer: The company I work for produces steaks for a lot of the higher end steakhouses in the region, so the quality of the steak is pretty important to me.

 

I've dined alone at Charlie Palmer Steak at MB in the past, didn't feel awkward to be solo...

 

Gordon Ramsay Steak is VERY loud. Fun atmosphere, but you have to be in the mood for it.

I really like the bar area of Heritage Steak at Mirage. It's spacious. I've eaten there solo a couple of times and enjoy getting a table that overlooks the casino so you can people watch while you eat.

 

Jean Georges has not been noisy the few times I have been there. I done solo in vegas often and my criteria are good food and a pleasant bar to sit at. JG has both

 

Funny... I usually do not like LOUD places when eating. In fact, we walked out of Ramseys Burger joint at PH due to noise, and too warm.

But, we really enjoyed our dinner at the bar at Ramsey Steakhouse at Paris. Not quiet for sure, but do not remember it being an issue. Maybe we were too hungry to notice.

 

I know you might think I'm crazy but Pleepleus and I have gone to Biscayne at The Trop many times. And the DRY AGED Bone-In Filet is one of the Best for $56/54 with card for the money. Now for some reason they always mess up Pleepleus's steak by giving him the filet mignon. DO NOT order that only get the DRY Aged BONE IN Filet. That is the only steak I would recommend to have there.



I left the Wynn to go have dinner there. I try to go one night each time I'm in VEGAS.

 

My experience with the Trop is limited to say the least, so that obviously is not one I would have thought of. I will check into it. Thanks.

 

I've done Brand Steakhouse at Monte Carlo solo once and with people now 5 times. Has never failed me yet.

 

I've not been to Gallagher's in NYNY but I've heard
raves about their steak! The best steak I've had in Vegas is
definitely old school: Vic and Anthony's at the Golden
Nugget. Very cool old Vegas ambiance, and a chill
lounge.

 

My faves (for food + solo friendliness) are SW, Carnevino and Craftsteak.

Carnevino's bar is perfect for the solo diner, IMO. It's big - plenty of seats - the bartenders are knowledgable and there are TVs and casino views if you get too bored. Plus, the steaks are among the best I've had.

 

I loved my steak at Vic & Anthony's, the company that evening not so much.

I've heard good things about Gallagher's too but never eaten there.

Carnevino had my attention as it sounds like they age the meat themselves but it doesn't look like the filet is available dry aged.

Maybe I'll just stick with Jean Georges. An easy walk since I'll be wearing 4" heels.

 

Jean Georges is tough to beat. Fantastic service, wonderful fillet, and nicely appointed accompanying sauce choices. Normally not a sauce guy but it really increased the flavor experience.
