My take on a host at Pechanga being lazy, not looking at the big picture and doing so well he apparently doesn't need any new business.
Let me start by saying Pechanga makes more gaming revenue than Wynn, Aria and any casino in Las Vegas. It is solely due to slot machines. I feel that take advantage of their clients as the odds are so stacked against them. While at Pechanga I saw little old ladies and men shoving dollar after dollar in the machines. How these people can afford this I have no idea. I never count other people's money but it looked like everyone in this casino were addicted. And there were 1000s of players. Mostly Asian. I would say 90% or higher. By the way all the players that I encountered were respectful, nice, considerate and truly pulling for me and their table mates to win. But the 100s and 1000s of dollars that were flowing from their pockets into the machines was mind boggling.
I never play at Indian casinos or any other casinos as I feel you get NOTHING for your money. I was at Pechanga to golf and I put in 3 hours of play over a 24 hour period. Just called and they had my final play at 300 avg, 3 hrs and winning just south of 7k.
Apparently I don't have a host there. I called to speak to a host and after being on hold for 15 minutes, transferred 2 times and given the third degree I finally got a host. I asked why I wasn't comped. He said let me take a look. "Your play was only 300 for 3 1/2 hours". "Your bill was 1500 and we took off 400". "And it looks like you hit and ran" I said "how could you say that? that's pretty cut and dry". I asked him to look inside the numbers. I told him how could I hit and run if I played 3 1/2 hours at 300 and won 7k in a 24 hour day? How could I be hitting and running if I was playing baccarat at a 900 avg for 1.5 hours?
He said let me see. Oh, he says, after you checked out you played too. (He thought I was there for 48 hours but too lazy to look). And you did play 900 a hand at baccarat. But you played 100 at craps? He said 900 a hand is strong but 100 is weak. I said I bet 100 on the line with 600 in odds each and every time. I told him I know you don't count odds but you Must take into consideration in the big picture how I play if you want my business! In the long run I lose! A lot! I told him I want to come back to play golf, see concerts and I will never want something for nothing. I just don't want to hassle with comps, rooms etc.. He said I can't do anything more for this last trip but if you want to come in again call me and I will at least bring you in at casino rate or better. I said no thank you.
All he had to do is go into my account and see my baccarat avg and know I play. Know that I don't want something for nothing.
Apparently they are doing so well that they really don't care for my demographics. I was prepared to lose 10k in 24hrs and he didn't see that.
He was short and said in 22 years he has had maybe 2 players ask for theo, avg, hrs, comp $$, discounts on losses over 10k, gas money and so on. I said" Good for me!" So what, I'm informed and Educated.. Don't fault me.
He shrugged it off and said call me next time before you come in and I will try to take care of you. He has a big portfolio of clients and doesn't care either way if I come in or not.
If my employee was to act like this I would be pissed to say the least.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

It's a perfect example of "when times are good . . . " Wait until there's another economic downturn. (Not wishing for one, but you know there will be). That casino host will be begging for your business.

Unfortunately, Many immigrant Asians have the "get rich quick" mentality. (I can say that because the compulsive gambling gene runs in my family, and I'm also Asian), so the local casinos will see a slight dip, but not enough to make them hurt.

    Just my .02.

Wow. But FWIW, since Rincon is associated with CET, you can see benefit from it. I've never had an issue having anything comped at Rincon either. I'm headed there on the 24th to see the Foreigner concert. Let me know if you want to come down and shoot some craps, maybe you can teach me some baccarat. :)

Comping $400 for 3.5 hours of 300 avg at games like bacc and craps doesn't sound stingy to me. Not sure I'd really expect them to look into their crystal ball and see that you are "obviously" a player.

Nonetheless I like how they describe you as "strong" if you play big and "weak" if you play small. Kind of like a drug dealer calling you weak because you only want some weed and not heroin.

Just to add, my host at Rincon has a far different demeanor and attitude.

Pala has always been good to me for my play, and it's nowhere near your level (HL slots, primarily)
Your risk exposure is far higher than mine, and Pala has always been good to me.

Rincon as well, but that's because I am an Upper-level Diamond with Harrah's/CET

Absolutely agree. However, If he is looking at my 100 avg at craps which is really 700 avg with odds I would not be complaining. But seeing that I play 1000 a hand at baccarat for about half the time should have set off fireworks in his head and he should have done almost anything to get me back! For him not to look into my play and see how I hit to that avg also was a mistake.
And, to not entice me to come back showed me he is complacent. Happy with the portfolio he has. Shoot, if I was him, i would have called a casino in vegas where I play and inquired what my play was. He would see a 3700 avg for 4 hours a day!
My point is, He needed to think out of the box! He just isn't hungry enough.

I think it really has to do with the "when times are good" scenario. These Indian casinos are so busy they do not need to comp at comparable Vegas levels. EVERY slot machine is taken, and there are people standing in line behind the slot machines waiting for the seat to open up. These casinos just do not need to cater to the players like the Vegas casinos do. Also, the competition is a lot less. Yes, there are a couple near each other, but both are at max capacity, so there just isn't the competition where they need to lure higher end players, or make sure that they return as there is always another player waiting to take their place.

they don't rate odds because they couldn't care less about odds since they have no HA.

    so 100 it is.

that's all you needed to say.

99% of hosts will do little to nothing for you when you win.

    esp hosts you don't know.

and esp esp at a little Indian casino.

Agree with you as well. But wouldn't you want your employee to jump on a players like us? No businessman would say business is too good. They would always want more. I'm saying the complacency and out of the box thinking factors are really low. Or do I expect too much from employees? I obviously don't think so.

Your "demographics" are such that you are a customer that never seems to be happy and thinks that with enough intimidation, you'll get your way. Some people respond to that, others don't. The person you dealt with obviously doesn't. Did you at least try and count to 10 before you got on here and started typing? You're all over the place... Slamming seniors and Asians for how much they gamble but then you state that you were willing to lose up to 10k in 24 hrs. You say that you never gamble at Indian casinos but you're surprised you don't have a host at this one? What do you really want... someone to bend over backwards for you because you placed large bets for 3-4 hours?
I guess they don't do that at Pechanga and shouldn't really matter to you because you don't gamble at Indian casino's, right?.. and you likely won't in the future, right? So how much are they really losing when you don't give them regular business anyways?
You expect Pechanga to operate like Vegas casino's. Obviously they don't because they don't have to and if they did, they do it for regular customers of which you are not one. I guess you'll have to wait for your upcoming Vegas trips for your comps that you feel you truly deserve.

You're spot on. The service industry in general is pretty sad though nowadays. If I was treated the way that you were, I'd likely not go back.

Unfortunately, the Cosmo no longer rates the odds at craps. This is a very recent change in policy.

Your "demographics" are such that you are a customer that never seems to be happy and thinks that with enough intimidation, you'll get your way. Some people respond to that, others don't. The person you dealt with obviously doesn't. Did you at least try and count to 10 before you got on here and started typing?

Here is an example of how typing and not talking live with emotions can be taken the wrong way. First im sorry I came across that way to you. Not my intension at all. I didn't try and never intimidate anyone. especially hard working employees that have to deal with mooches all day. No I didn't count to 10.

Again, im sorry. Not slamming Asians, Americans, seniors, jews or gentiles. (I am an almost Jewish Senior) I was simply making my observation of the Casino.

you state that you were willing to lose up to 10k in 24 hrs. You say that you never gamble at Indian casinos but you're surprised you don't have a host at this one?

Yes I did state I was willing to lose 10k because that is an important part of how the host should look at my entire picture.

You say that you never gamble at Indian casinos but you're surprised you don't have a host at this one?

No, I said...... apparently I don't have a host there. I passed through there playing golf last year and played but didn't stay there. So, I didn't know if I was assigned one.

What do you really want... someone to bend over backwards for you because you placed large bets for 3-4 hours?

My friend, YOU BET THATS WHAT I WANT! I would want that if I played 5 minutes at 25 a hand. It is just customer service. I also said, I NEVER want something for nothing!

You expect Pechanga to operate like Vegas casino's. Obviously they don't because they don't have to and if they did, they do it for regular customers of which you are not one. I guess you'll have to wait for your upcoming Vegas trips for your comps that you feel you truly deserve.

Sheesh, 10 second rule applies to you too! I don't have any expectations well except two. No laziness and don't be complacent. The host could have handled it differently. Is that asking too much? I never compared it to Vegas. I just want to be treated as I would treat them. Now I agree, I should have articulated my words differently and im sorry for that. However, I never play for comps and never will but I do watch the numbers and watch how we as customers are treated. Pechanga employees were BY THE BOOK. From the front desk to the casino floor. Nothing wrong with that. I simply like for employees to think out of the box a little. Not be so scripted. A hand shake or how are you doing today? Not always thinking about business. just giving me a little customer service.
I also never said once I feel I deserve any comps. I don't deserve anything in life but im always going to ask. Im just telling my little story so it doesn't happen to anyone here. Again im sorry if I presented my story in a bashing way. Please accept my apology?

Packer, you have nothing to apologize for. I have no idea what kind of player or person you are so what I call your "rant" could certainly be a one off thing. My point was that some of your comments were contradictory and I'll agree that it is difficult for us all, at some point, to understand the emotion or intention of what is being typed by others.

As an almost senior, you know that life is too short to sweat the small stuff and an Indian casino not rating you properly is, in my mind... small stuff. You're there for the golf, not the gaming. So you go where they appreciate your business which you're doing in a few days. Have a good time.

I think this is an unknown to them. Yes, you bet a fair amount, but if all they do is look at the computer screen, they see little to no history with you. They do not know if you will be like the thousands of other regulars that come every day of the week, or if you just happened to swing by with a decent amount of cash and may only see you once in a blue moon. The host does sound to be a bit of a dick, but I have also been turned down for comps at Bellagio when I won a measly $2000. I think with Indian casinos, you are not going to really see anything until you start going regularly, or bet a substantial amount..."substantial" being relative...to me and most on this board, you bet substantial...to Pechanga, it could be if you played more, or continue to play more. There are a decent number of big players at that casino. They also have a good number of high denom slot and VP players too. I go to Pechanga all the time, but I really do not know how good or bad comps are there because I very rarely stay overnight and I am rarely there during mealtime....I pretty much go just to get my gamble on. I have a host there and she has set me up on the couple occasions I stay there, but other than that, I don't bother her. As mentioned in your other thread, there is a female Caucasian host there that is supposedly really good. I believe she used to be a host in Vegas. Sorry, you feel like you got shafted...but at least you took a few thousand from them, which they may never get back from you again:)
