In Vegas for a night. Do I use my card or not?

Number one: Have been away for a while. Took a bit of a Vegas break. Just a conglomeration of events that have gotten in my way.

So my question is: I have a brief business trip coming up in a few weeks. Staying at MGM casino for a night on my company's dime. Very busy trip, just a possible few hours for degeneracy. Since I'm primarily a MGM card player, do I use my card? Positives: Gain a few points for keeping my platinum status. Negatives: Blow my ADW average for future offers.

I will say that MGM casino is not my home base. I might stay there once a year. If I get a chance I have no plans of making it any further than MGM itself.

So for the worthies on this site: What to do?

It keeps your Express comps alive for another year.

    I would use it.

Especially given your history, or lack thereof.

You don't really have anything to lose.

If your MLife number is in any way associated with your reservation, or you use it to get a discount in the gift shop, or anything else, they're going to know you were there. If that's the case, then you might as well use the card if you play at all.

If not, then, if you know you're going to play significantly under your historical daily average, I'd think about keeping it in your wallet or just forgoing play altogether. If you need to scatch the itch, find a low min table or low denom slot or VP machine and get it out of your system.

It would help to know what your typical daily play is vs. what you expect to do on this one day.

I caught the flu during the second half of a week-long stay, back in January. I started out with 3 nights at Mirage, followed by 2 nights at Cosmo, and then 3 nights at Aria. I had a couple of overlapping hotel stays during this time, but they are irrelevant as I consider mlife my main casino properties. Anyways, by the time I checked into Aria, I was pretty much stuck in bed for the duration of the stay. I only managed to put in two 15-20 minute sessions of UTH, and maybe a couple hours total of slots, during the stay. I only did about half a days worth of play over a 3 night stay, at my current favorite property. However, I threw the pressure of maintaining a certain level of play out the window because I was sick. The little amount I played ended up being a hot streak and I won enough to recoup half my losses from the first half of the week at Mirage. Had I been scared about low playing this one trip, I would have been sick and in the hole a lot more than I ended up. Sure, I could have just as easily lost even more, but I knew I was too physically weak to chase too much...lol. Bottom line, I personally would not worry too much over one low play trip. Any decrease in offers you may see will not be permanent, unless you continue to play at the lower level. This is just my opinion on the matter.

I see no reason to not use your card. I use my card if I'm playing for ten minutes or ten hours.

Yes, I think you're right. I'll just use the card and not worry about it.
