    My Trip Report

Trip report 4/5/2015-4/8/2015 Caesars Palace slot porn on 2nd and third day

So, a lot of this is known information for CET Diamond/Seven Stars, but I'm posting my Diamond experience for Platinum level payers considering Diamond status.

04052015 - TR at Caesars - slot porn included

OK, so I flew out of San Jose at 6:30AM That's the price you pay for getting a sub $75 airfare.

I was getting In about 2 hours before my friend (Les), so I had 2 hours to kill. I used early check-in at Caesars (flexing my newly formed Diamond muscles).

Sat down to play and got beat up for the first hour. About an hour before Les' plane was to touch down, I went over to the Rio, because we were planning on seeing Penn & Teller that night.

So, played at Rio and held my own. Box office didn't open until 11AM, so I had time to kill.

Got tickets for P&T, but they were balcony seats. At least they weren't sold out, but Mac King was dark, and Veronic' was on tour in Europe, which left the Eiffel Tower Experience, so I figured I can see P&T any time within the next 2 years, and probably get better seats if I go on my own or have more time.

Les' plane landed and I picked him up. We proceeded to Caesars and since I had gotten an email notifying me that our room was ready, we went straight to the VIP check-in.

Now, I am doing an "informal" evaluation of CET Diamond vs. mLife Platinum vs. Grazie Gold on this trip, and right now CET is winning hands down. Diamond level gets you many things not available to other CET members, such as:

Front valet parking (even when "full") note that this counts even when hotel guests are being turned away.

However, there IS a cost associated with Diamond level. More on that later.

So we went to the VIP check-in area, which is a room in the back towards the Octavius and Augustus (where we were booked).

VIP check-in was smooth and seamless, they were serving "lemongrass/cucumber water". Unless you're a fan of lemongrass or cucumber, I recommend avoiding this. It was "un-sweet" and kind of nasty tasting.

Went to the room. The room was VERY nice. It rivaled the V/P for spaciousness. The only difference was that the V/P room had a staircase (3 steps) that provided a room separator.

By now, it was about 12:15 and we had lunch reservations at 1PM at the Eiffel Tower restaurant. So, we walked over to Paris and got there at 12:30. We asked if they could seat us early and they said that they could. We took the "private" elevator to the restaurant, which sits on the 11th floor.

I highly RECOMMEND this restaurant as having one of the nicest views of the Bellagio fountains. Too bad I was there with just a guy friend.

    Some pictures:

    ET_1.jpg ET_2.jpg

The meal came to $68 and change (not including tip). I had the French Onion soup and a Lamb Burger, Les had French Onion soup and a seafood salad, we had non-alcoholic drinks.

Note that they make their French Onion soup a little "different". It has a cream base , with no cheese and bread on top. Tasty, but I still prefer the broth based version.

Pricey perhaps, but the view more than made up for it.

After lunch we walked back through the new mall at Ballys. Meh. Nothing special. The only place that I would shop at if I needed to and was there would be the Swatch store.

We went to the Cromwell to check on the $100 Diamond appreciation that we were going to use at Giada's the next day. Apparently, it wasn't in the system, so they couldn't give it to us.

So, we briefly discussed the options:

1)I am in Las Vegas about 8-12 times a year. Les accompanies me whenever his wife lets him. We have been friends for over 40 years.
2)Giada is just a celebrity chef, and although her food is (supposedly) very good, I wouldn't come out of pocket $100+ for a lunch.
3)We can always go in June on our next trip.

So, we went upstairs and canceled our Giada reservation for Monday.

Les went back to the hotel. I stayed at Cromwell and put in some time.

Note. If you are playing at CET casinos and are tracking your points, the casinos DO NOT consolidate the points in real time. I made it a point to keep track of my points when I left each casino (Rio, Caesars and Cromwell) so I could have a reasomable accurate daily total.

On our way back, I noticed that the line to the Diamond Lounge at Caesars was out the door and turned the corner into the passageway that could be seen as I walked back to the room.

Made two Diamond Lounge stops, one at Caesars, where they were serving Chicken WIngs and salad and dessert, and then over to Rio, where they were serving ribs and salad and dessert. We ate at both, since we weren't eating dinner for some two hours. (P&T has only one show at 9PM)

Texted UCLAGirl, who I'd never met but she was in town. I had PMed her to see where she was, but she was on her way out of town. My loss . . . boo hoo.

The Rio Diamond Lounge is located in the High Limit slot area, and after you check in with the attendant, you take an elevator to the Lounge.

We were in the balcony, but nonetheless, the P&T show was extremely entertaining. The show lasted 90 minutes, and P&T does a meet and greet after the show in the lobby. We opted out of the meet and greet but would do so the next time we visited.

A view of the P&T Theater from the stage. We were sitting in row H (3rd row in the baclony)

    PT_1.jpg

We went up to Chinatown for "dinner", since it was now about 11PM. Note that we are both notoriously "cheap bastards", plus, we're both Chinese-American, so we eat all kinds of strange food and we know where to "eat cheap". Did a Yelp on "Asian noodles late night las vegas

Ate at a noodle place on Spring Mountain. Cheap and easy.

Went back to Caesars. Les turned in. Les is primarily a craps player but has a "thing" about playing regulary on $10 tables, so he goes over to Ballys when we're up on the strip. I had my point totals from Cromwell and Rio, and made it to 2500 TCs and stopped.

Up to the room by 11. In bed and asleep by 11:30. Yeah, I'm an old guy.

    Tomorrow was "downtown day".

Day 2 - 3 hand pays and down even more!!!

    Day two.

I got up at 6:30 and went downstairs to "get started" before Les woke up. The casino was relatively quiet. Walked over by the Baccahnal Buffet to see if I could smell the "Asian food smells". Nope, weren't any.

Played until I made 1000 points, then went back to the room. Les was up and we decided to go to the airport to pick up his car and then we would meet downtown. He needed a second car because there was shopping he needed to do and also because he was leaving at 4AM the next day. I would have gladly driven him to the airport, but the car cost him next to nothing and it made it more convenient for both of us.

He met me at the Four Queens. I was playing the Silver Strike machine. There were a few red and blue caps in the machine, and I snagged one red and one blue.

    redcap.jpg bluecap_open.jpg redcap_open.jpg bluecap.jpg

I had my ACG book and there was a coupon for a BOGO breakfast at Golden Nugget. We ate there $14.00 for the two of us. A filling breakfast. Les left and I played a $1.00 machine and made about $50.00.

He had his morning scheduled and I went over to the D to get my food comp (dinner that night). One of the reasons that I remain loyal to the D is because they take such good care of me. I get $150 every month for food and I always eat at Andiamo's Steak house.

Hit a W2-G there on a Buffalo Deluxe machine

    theD_handpay.jpg

So, a small one, but better than nothing.

I left the D up about $1000 but I'm still down for the trip. Now, to me up and down is a relative number. I have since reconciled it to spend and "not spend"

Went over to the Mirage and cashed in Les and my Superbowl tickets. A big $66.00. Wow, might even pay for the tip at dinner.

Played a couple rounds of "buy a bonus" on the pixie machine. Played (3) $100 rounds.

    #1 - $108.00
    #2 - $125.00
    #3 - $25

So, I lost $45 but racked tp 1000 mLife TC. Went back to the Silver Strike machine. There were blue caps in the machine. I was playing for the blue caps. I do not collect the colorized blue caps at Mirage. I'm not a big Terry Fator fan, but I have friends who are, and while I was playing for enough clears for a $300 strike, I figured I may as well gather blue caps.

I ended up with about 15 clears and 2 blues for $250 invested. Piddled away more money after qutiiting the silver strike machine. Ended up going back to Caesars after the Mirage.

So, before dinner I told Les that we'd stop by at SLS to visit my money. the last time I was at SLS was in November, where I got stiffed on $900 in the high limit area. 90 pulls on several $5 machines and not a single payout. And then to add insult to injury, the closed the buffet that I had "earned" two admissions to.

OK, so we valeted the car and walked through the casino, back to the high limit area. Les went to the bathroom and I sat down to a machine that had just paid out $7000. What the heck, there is just as much chance of it happening again as not.

    So, after 3 pulls:

    SLS_handpay.jpg

Then Les came back from the bathroom. "I just went to the bathroom!!" I told him "OK, I got my money back and then some. Time to go.". After I was hand paid and tipped the Slot Supervisor and attendant, the Slot supervisor asked if I had a host, and introduced me to an Asian lady, Lena, who I guess is now my host(ess). So, if I ever schedule a short trip, I guess I can make it at SLS.

    OK, so two things:

1)I mentioned that she was an Asian lady because since I'm Asian, if they see me coming, they always assigning me an Asian host or hostess. Now, I'm 5th generation American born Chinese. So as one native Chinese girl said to me, "I'm not really Chinese, I just look that way.".
2)I know got asked if I needed a host because I hit the jackpot in the High Limit pit. I am guessing that if this had happened at a .01 machine on the floor, I wouldn't have gotten that treatment.

Lena asked me if there was anything that I needed, and I told her that I would like to have dinner at Bazaar Meat by José Andrés. She mentioned that we would have to make reservations. I told her that it would be for a future trip.

So, after meeting Lena, they mentioned that I had $125 in free play, wehich I played off and rounded my winnings back up to $1200. TIme to go . . . .

. . . to Container park to visit Jinju Chocolates, the Award winning Chocolate shop owned by Jin Caldwell. I picked up two gift boxes of chocolates for Marty, my host at the D, and Elma, the hostess at Andiamo's.

Dinner was at Andiamo's Steak House. I used my $150 comp there and I had a rack of lamb and Les had a 1 lb. NY steak. Now, Les was leaving early in the morning and I encouraged him to take one of my lamb chops and the rest of hist NY steak home, which he did.

So, I dropped Les off at the Paradise Road entrance to Caesars so he could drop off the food, and then I took off for PH, so we could visit the Diamond Lounge there. Les joined me at the Diamond Lounge at PH.

They quit serving hot food at each of the Diamond Lounges at 6PM on the weekdays. The Diamond Lounge at PH is on the second floor, and and EMT escorted me up there. I said "Why, do you think I'm going to have a heart attack getting there?" She smiled and said "No it's just that the DL is in an out of the way place.".

So, I sat down and even though I was full from the dinner at Andiamo's, I had some celery sticks and dressing and a Ginger Ale. The big disadvantage for me of these lounges is that I don't drink alcohol, so I'm missing out on the big plus of these places. Les finally joined me. It was halftime of the NCAA Champoinship game and I have no interest, financial or otherwise, so I got up to leave. I knew that Les would be turning in early, and I still had TCs to earn.

He was going to Ballys to play before turning in. (remember, he was getting up at 4AM to leave the next day)

We walked back to Paris, where I had mistakenly parked and he kept on going to Ballys. I picked up the car and drove back to Caesars.

Played at Caesars until 10PM got another hand pay but my phone was down to 1% power so I couldn't take a picture.

It was a 5 line, $1 machine Triple BONUS machine, but my phone was down to 1% power so I didn't get to take a picture. $1352 from (triple 7 - 3X - 3X) that left me about 350 TCs short of 2500.

Played two $1 Sphinx machines to make the remaining 300 TCs, so I made my 2500 TCs (which grants a 5000 TC bonus) and decided to quit for the night. Still "down", but within my budget.

    Tomorrow . . . a very full last day.

Enjoying your report. Great luck at SLS.

As a fairly new Diamond (2 trips ago) I am interested in what others think about the other CET casino and diamond lounges. Have only been in one or two so far. Also will be getting to use my two free show tickets for my upcoming trip in May! Not sure what will be on then.

Thanks for the TR.... so far so good. Just one question... I know what silver strikes are, but what are the red and blue ones? I've only seen a regular clear case one.

I posted pictures of red and blue caps in the day 2 post.

Red and blue refers to the color of the capsules.

The red once have a .999 silver center (.5-.6 ozt. .999 silver), the Blue caps are colorized. Some, but not all red caps are colorized.

Some casinos have reds and blues, some reds or blues, some don't have any reds or blues. Of the casinos in Las Vegas

    Sam's Town - reds/blues
    Mirage - blues only
    Venetian/Palazzo - reds/blues
    El Cortez - no reds/blues
Four Queens - red/blues but they will run out

The Four queens is the most active casino for Silver Strikes. They have 4 releases a year.

    January tournament- one red/four blues
    St. Patrick's Day - one red/one blue
June tournament - one red/four blues
    Halloween - one red/one blue

I've always wondered about the Silver Strikes. They look really neat and I'm sure they're great to collect, but are they worth anything? Also, how much money do you lose in achieving them? Probably a pair of dumb questions. Thanks!

The economics of silver strikes could/would be a whole different thread. If you're in Las Vegas the last weekend of June, there's a Silver Striker gathering at the Four Queens. There is a $300 strike distribution at 5PM and trading session at 6PM on the Saturday of the tournament at the Four Queens.

    My opinion, in short is:

silver is $17.00 (give or take) a troy oz. A $300 silver strike is 6 troy ounces.

At anything less than $50 an ozt, they should be considered collectibles and valued as such.

I figure that clear strikes, given that red/blue caps are in the machine, have a "fair cost" of $12.00 apiece.

That is figured on 35 strikes 30 clear and 3 reds and 2 blues costing $500 to acquire. Reds are worth $30-35 each and blues are worth about $20-25 each.

    $500-$130(3x30 and 2x20)=$360

That is why I don't play if there are no reds/blues in the machines, because there is nothing to offset the actual cost of the clear caps.

All strikes before 2009 were .999 silver in the center.

    Day 3 . . . the bad news. But I had fun . . . yeah right . .

Les got up at 4AM to leave. I wasn't sleeping very soundly, so I got up and walked him downstairs. Since the CET day is 5AM-4:59AM, it was too early to play, so I decided to go to Mirage and finish up on the $300 strike.

I got the needed tokens quickly and actually made back the money I had spent on a Weyland "Blackout" machine, so for all accounts, so far a "net zero" day.

Got my $300 token. The outside cover was written on. Looked like one that was "turned back in". So, I ended up earning 25,000 TC at mLife, I'm almost halfway to making it back to Platinum. Since Mirage has a Silver Strike machine and my hostess at MGM Grand is a hottie, I have excuses to play at Mirage MGM Grand.

So, it's 5:20AM, where to now? I decided to go downtown to the Four Queens. I don't remember exactly why I went there, but my notes say I was done and out of there by 6:07. I think at that point, I was going back to the Venetian to validate the Platinum Lounge access rules. Sure enough, on a sign posted on the massive doors to the Platinum lounge there was a sign indicating that the lounge was for Platinum Card holders only and that (lowly) Gold Card holders should use the lounge in the Venetian.

So, here's where the downward spiral started.

I ended up playing at Venetian for a couple of hours, earning about 7500 Grazie points, so I'm about 65% of the way back to gold. Hey, wasn't I suppsed to be dropping V/P or mLife in favor of CET? Oh well. I guess I'm doing OK with having comps and free play everywhere. Summary at the end.

So, after taking my beating, I decided to go over to Silver Sevens. Why??

Silver Sevens (formerly Terrible's) is my "get out of town" breakfast place. They have reasonable prices, and their restaurant serves "life sustaining" food. They are on the corner of Paradise and East Flamingo.

They were having a promotion of 10X points (4000 point limit). Their breakfast buffet is only $5.99, and I had comp money.

I had a lunch "date" at 1PM up on Spring Mtn. so I had 3 hours to "kill". Well, I didn't get killed over the next 3 hours, but it took me that long to make the 4000 points and "only" drop $500.

So, at this point, two machines that I normally hit bonuses on but were unusually "dry". Spinx 3D and Buffalo Stampede. Very dark on both those machines. Not even the "lucky" bonus on Sphinx 3D (the random bonus that you get while playing)

OK, so I went and had lunch with my "date". It's now 2:30. Since I had to get up at 4AM to fly home, it boiled down to "where do I go next?"

I decided to go to . . . . Wynn. The only place that was so tight I maxed out my marker limit early and drove home early.

So, I went to Wynn and took out a marker and that went in an hour. The high limit slot area at Wynn is elegant and beautiful, and just as stiff.

I ended up taking another marker since it was only 4PM and I wasn't ready to go back to Caesars and grind out another 2500 TC day.

So, I ended up playing a .01 machine that I had never seen before. WMS' Mu Guiying. So, I sat down to play. After awhile, I hit this

    mu_guying_S.jpg

$1900. Just like Wynn, hit a jackpot to cover the marker that I had just taken out. So, after a debate on whether I should leave the markers in play, or pay them down before I left, I decided that discretion was the better part of valor and paid down one marker.

Went to the red card desk to inquire about comps. The lady mentioned that I had free play ($70.00 worth) and I also had FB (Food and beverage) comps. I asked her how much and as she started to explain it, I asked her, "What if I were going to the buffet for dinner. Do I have 1, 2 or a fraction of one?" She said "Oh, you have more like 5.". I said OK, and added it to my list of "squirreled away comps".

Left Wynn and decided on dinner. Could've gone downtown for Prime Rib at Magnolia's, but decided to try Silver Sevens $9.99 prime rib dinner because I had all of those comp points.

Went to Silver Sevens, the Sterling Spoon restaurant is on the second floor. I've heard that they have a high end Steakhouse on the weekends up there. The Prime Rib dinner was a 10 oz. cut, with 2 sides and bread.

    S7_PrimeRib.jpg

NOTE: You must have a Player's Club card to get the $9.99 price, just like Magnolia's

After dinner, then back to Caesar's, where it was uneventful. I got my 2500 points and went back to the room. Watched 1/2 of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., then off to sleep.

Up at 4AM to leave. In-room check out wasn't working, and the phone to the front desk put me on hold, so I stopped by the front desk on the way out. I left the meal charge on the hotel bill, so I can use my comp points elsewhere on another trip.

I come down here at least 4 times a year, so it won't be like not getting to use them.

So, the summary of the trip.

CET treats their Diamond Level members very well. Among the advantages.

    Separate check-in area
Preferred valet parking. The gal at Paris told me that as a Diamond member, I could use the outside (inside to the hotel) lane to avoid the normal valet line
    Diamond Lounges
Show tickets (make sure that you get them early for the popular shows, and the $20 trick is appropriate)
High Roller tickets (since I achieved Aspiration level 1, I now get 4 High Roller Tickets per month)

    OK, the downside:

All these benefits "cost me" a fair amount of money. But, that's why they call it gambling. I was still up before this trip thanks to the win in Reno earlier this year.
I came in little above my budget, but the 5000 point bonus on 2500 earned (in a day) is tough to ignore. And, it was a vacation. I think I need to learn to stop "butterflying". Managing one comp program is difficult, but 3 is way too many.

I think I'm now pretty set up through 3/2017, and I am halfway to Platinum mLife and 2/3 towards Grazie Gold with more than 50% of the year left. I established a relationship with SLS.
I have lots of comps, and they are at various casinos both downtown and on the Strip.

I came back witha $300 strike to add to my collection, and reds/blues for myself and my friends, and I come down at least 4 times a year for Silver Strike functions.

The three Diamond Lounges I visited were:

    Caesars
    Rio
    Planet Hollywood

All were nice places to "get away" from the madness of the casino floor. It's nice to be considered "special" I don't drink alcohol, so that benefit was lost on me. There was really that I could notice to differentiate the lounges.

So, where next in June/July? I may try the Cromwell. Since CET doesn't "make you" play where you stay, CET has the advantage. V/P possibly, but the Augustus tower room at Caesars was IMHO equally as nice. I keep wanting to stay at the Wynn/Encore again, but I only stay there when I have female "company". I was thinking of SLS, but that casino is so small and there's really nothing nearby. At least Downtown you have 7 or 8 casinos within walking distance. Yeah, I know, the monorail . . . but . . . .

I'm taking a trip to Harrah's Reno with my 88 year old Dad in May. We'll see how DA1 (Diamond Aspiration Level 1) gets treated there. I was also thinking of Tahoe, but I hate that drive even worse than the drive to Reno.

Thanks for reading. Comments welcome and questions accepted, but please be kind . . . . :)

Thanks for the awesome trip report and congrats on your hand pays. . I love your comparative analysis of the various casinos. Your adt at CET should be decent and earn you some nice offers. Do keep us posted on those.
I am diamond at CET , and platinum at mlife , but have been itching to try out v/p , but worried that I might spread myself too thin .

So would you say that the diamond lounge is comparable with the gold lounge at v/p?

    DaiLun,
What is was your usual bankroll for the day at CET?? How much did u have to spend on the slots to make 2,500 TC of your money, not recycled money(aka coin-in cause I know how much that cost)??.

Thanks for this trip report. I really wish you had Cosmo on your list instead of V/P. I'm making the switch from CET (loyal for 8yrs) to Cosmo but I'm not sure that was a good idea. I made Gold at Cosmo just weeks before they changed Identity and I'm mostly a game tables player. So the changes are greatly affecting me. The only thing is all of these players clubs have their postives and negative sides. But I do agree CET seems to be the best...even tho they took most of my comps away..and no I did not short them, if anything I played with a higher bankroll and lost more. I blame my comp on the bankruptcy like everyone else!

I see the differences in that the Gold Lounge is "just" a place to "take a break" from slot play, since it's in the High Limit slot area.

Although at some CET casinos (Rio) you access the DL through the High Limit Slot area, they are more like "places to relax away from the gaming area.".

The other difference is that the Gold Lounge at V/P is just finger food. I could have a meal on the hot/cold food served at the DL.

Gee, considering how poorly I keep track of per casino expenditures, it's a Miracle that I can come up with a number.

I start with $1500, and when I get to 1000 TC, I evaluate where I'm at.

The next checkpoint is either 1500 or 2000, depending on where I was at 1000.

If I get to 2000, then I'm pretty much in.

The only exceptions to the rules are is I'm way up (and scared, like I was in January), way down, like $1200 in to make 1000 TCs or running out of time (only happened once, and that was all my fault).

Hope that answers your question. I'm purely a slots player, so it's easy keeping track of points. Just remember to write down your point count if you leave a particular casino.

I think your insight is awesome!!!

I like the way you calculate every detail of your gaming and turn them around to your advantage.

It may be too complicated for me to duplicate but I still enjoy reading!!!
