So I'm going to be comp'd at the Mirage for a few nights which is going to include food as well. I've never had the food comp'd before, what does that usually mean, just the Cravings Buffet at the Mirage or any food establishment on the property?

i can't answer that as i have no idea of you level of play/comp.
if you are not full RFB, then it is usually a set limit a day, but i am not a host,
though i did play one in vegas one time... but i digress

charge it to your room and it will be picked up, minus the tip.

it's likely a fixed amount per day or total amount per trip.

Usually the comp or resort credit will allow you to charge meals at most hotel restaurants to your room and the amount of the comp will be deducted until the credit or comp is used up. If it's a daily comp, you have to use up the total amount per day or lose the part you didn't use that day. If it's an overall stay comp (like a resort credit would be) then you have to use that entire amount before you check out.

At some hotels, there will be some restaurants that you couldn't use the comp/credit at and the desk clerk can usually tell you which ones wouldn't. As for Mirage, I can't think of any restaurants that you couldn't use it at. Maybe not that yogurt place by the pool?

Pretty sure you can charge any restaurants in a MGM resort back to your Mirage room.

I dined at L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon and on the receipt there was an option to charge it to your room.
