    Hey all,

I've earned 304,000 Tier Credits this year over two trips. My most recent trip saw my count go from 231,000 to 304,000 over a two-day span. This was probably 50/50 on slots and video poker. I'm just trying to figure out how much I gambled.

I did the trip through myVegas for my first night and visited the casino host office after my first day of play. He said I had played through $21k with a theo of $1,100. The mLife system got all weird the next two days and yesterday when I got home I saw 304,000 online.

I ended up staying at Mirage an extra day after taking in a late show. I don't think my purchase of a room and two buffets would've produced that many tier credits on that second day.

So my question is, how much did I probably play through?

I just don't think I played more that second day and didn't notice my express comps and freeplay jumping THAT much. (I really didn't pay close attention this trip though)

That number was just much higher than I expected. Am I missing something? I thought the "tier bonus" provided more express comps and freeplay, not more tier credits.

I don't have a host at Mirage, so I'd like to figure it out on my own without needing to bother anyone over there with an email or call. I try not to call hosts unless booking or to ask for comps.

Any help would be great. Thanks!

Assuming you had zero hotel spend (i.e everything was comped)

You earned a total of 73,000 TCs, assuming its 50/50 like you think thats 36,500 in slots and VP

Slots are 10 TCs for every $3 coin-in for regualr slots and $10 for specialty slots...so if it was all specialty then you did $36,500 coin-in, if all regualr then you did $10,950

VP is 10TCs for every $10 coin-in...so you did $36,500 coin-in in VP...

So you did a total of somewhere between $47,450 and $73,000

So let me take a stab at this. Since you had 231K TCs at the start of this trip, that makes you platinum and you earn a 30% bonus on all coin in. Since you also spent hard $ you earn 25TCs per $ spent (There is no bonus on this at any level I believe but others can correct me if am mistaken). Based on your numbers - you earned a total of 73K TCs this trip.

So lets try the hard $ first. Assuming you paid $200 total (excluding taxes and fees), a $140/room and $30 for each buffet - that accounts for 5K TCs ($200x25)

That leaves you with a total of 68K TCs from gambling. As a platinum mLife card holder - your gambling is bumped by the 30% bonus. Divide that out (68K/1.3) and you get an actual number of 52,300 TCs (rounding down). You earn 10 TCs for every base point - so that is a total of 5230 base points.

1 base point for every $3 of slot play
1 base point for every $10 of VP play

If I take your 50/50 split literally that means:
2615 base points for slots = $7,845 coin in
2615 base point for VP = $26,150 coin in
Total coin in is just under $34K

Change that mix at all toward more slot play and the number can easily move toward $21K (I believe they use a little under .02% when calculating VP theo - no idea what the numbers are for slots)

Tier bonus is only for points and express comps, not tier credits themselves. Due to the "specialty" slots earning at a different rate than non-specialty at MGM it's always difficult to reverse engineer the coin-in unless you exclusively played VP/non-specialty or specialty. Demon is pretty much spot on other than maybe adjusting the numbers based on a rough estimate of how the play broke down between the two groupings and deducting the ~5k in TCs from resort spend.

Yea, huge assumption in my calcs is zero hotel spend...

Since you earn so much for hotel spend, it can sway the numbers largely

Thanks for the effort there guys. I never play specialty slots, so that helps me. Didn't realize they got loss points.

Yeah my biggest problem is not tracking my play per game. Just follow points for FP and express comps for estimating primary comps. Maybe I'm making a big mistake here.

They actually earn more points than specialty slots. The calculations are in reverse above, so it's backwards. The real question I have and have never been able to get an answer on, is if slot they is different for specialty vs non specialty or if it's just the rate that you earn TC/point play / express comps.

It looks like you had a fair amount of play. You really should have
    a) asked a host about comping you the extra day as soon as you opted to stay on
    and/or
    b) asked to get it comped afterwards

E-mailed the host office a day after the stay and was able to get it comped. :)

I really liked the Mirage, too. I like that MGM provides what I think are 5 high quality destinations in the Grand, Mandalay, Mirage, Bellagio and Aria. And really, Monte Carlo, NYNY and Luxor get the job done for me as well.

Glad this worked out for you, VegasSchemer. As it should have. Good stuff. And I agree with you about MGM. Part of me wishes that they would have bought Cosmo so that I could play there without feeling guilty about not getting TCs.

A lot of me wishes they bought Cosmo.
I'm always at Aria but usually end up stopping at Cosmo and usually do not gamble there.
