Opposite question of the thread regarding how long you stick with one that isn't. My wife will cash out and start anew (same machine) every time she's up a few bucks ($1.25 per hand quarter VP). She'll get quite a wad of tickets and has to go to the cashier often, but her theory is that if she ends up dropping an entire hundred she's at least got some of it sequestered away from all those small wins. I target a 50% gain before cashing and putting in a fresh bill. She thinks that's nuts because sometimes I'll be up 30 or 40 dollars, then end up chasing bad hands all the way down to zero. What's your strategy?

I never cash out and get a ticket and then put in a fresh bill. I play it either down all the way or decide to quit with a profit. The decision is basically done on the fly. For the most part I end up pissing it all away unless I hit a decent sized win

25c VP player here. I always put in $100 to start.

If I get up quickly to a 50% profit (i.e., $150), I set a floating walk-away point, starting at $125 and going up if I keep winning. So it'll creep up to $130, $135, etc. Hopefully.

If I'm going up more slowly, say a 4OAK putting me to $130 or so and then hanging around there for awhile, I set a lower walk-away point, say $110. Again, that point creeps up if I keep doing well, or if I just play for a long time and stay flat.

So I guess what I'm saying is, I'd rather walk away with a small win than drop back down to even or below. Even a $10 win equals a steak dinner at Ellis Island (where I'm often playing, anyway)...

For less-friendly machines, I walk away when I get down to $50 and take a break. (Yes, I could just start with $50 and walk away when I'm at zero, but it feels better to walk away with more than zero.)

If I get a good win, like a good bonus round, I'll cash out and find another or quit for a while.

If i have good discipline going, I will start out with $5-$20, cash out when I hit $50+ and insert another $5. But I do get into a bad habit of playing on a decent balance instead of cashing out.

    It varies.
If its a really good win, I may play it down to an even amount. For example if I start with $50 and get a big win of $200, I may play what I have back to $200.
If the machine is constantly paying, I will play it until I feel it has turned cold which can vary.

If a machine is doing well, i usually say to myself "x" amount and I'll quit. When I hit "x" I re-evaluate and usually end up giving most back. I'm a true degenerate, so long as I'm having fun I will keep playing no matter what the outcome.

I play either $1 triple play DDB VP or .25 triple play Ultimate X. I won't cash out until I have at least $500 in credits. If I'm over that with a good win, I'll play until the next highest or lowest hundred dollar amount. When the machine is paying, I stay with that machine until it eats 2 bills straight
