My wife loves to dance and loves it more when the suggestion comes from me. What recommendations do you all have for a 50+ couple that likes R&B, 70s, 80s and up music? Or...is the club scene pretty much geared for 20 & 30 somethings?

You may be better off going to a lounge rather than a club. Most clubs have edm music. You will not find 70s, 80s music

Why bother with cover bands when Diana Ross is at the Venetian this month and Barry Manilow is at the MGM Grand? If that doesn't scratch the itch, I'm not sure what will.

That said, I am of a similar demographic and have enjoyed the lounge at the Tuscany Suites. The casino lounges often have cover bands, usually with dancing, for free. In particular, I think several other lounges at the off-strip casinos (Eastside Cannery?) have cover bands with dancing.

Blabber... A couple of years ago you would have been spot on about the Indigo lounge. But they have since changed the indigo lounge twice in the past 2 years. I'm 57 years old and my wife and I used to go to the Indigo lounge 2/3 times each trip. Groups like JAMM would play all the oldies but goodies. You even had ballroom dancing and the " mature" crowd enjoyed it immensely.

We just left Ballys last week and the Indigo lounge was jut a bar with TV's but no music whatsoever. And no dance floor and no dj. I do agree that Cleopatras barge has provided some good old Skool vibes in the past. I suggest that you check for the following groups and where they are performing before you go to Vegas. JAMM and the San Fernando Band are 2 groups that I always look for when I go to Vegas. I first heard the San Fernando Band perform at the Barbary Coast. That was 10 years ago. I first heard JAMM 4/5 years ago. Plenty old Skool and dancing for folks like us!

Agree with you. Indigo lounge used to be old school but it was very loud. Paris sometimes has some 80s cover rock bands on the weekends. PH has some rock bands, too

Voodoo Lounge at Rio is great for the 50 something demo. The music is more modern, but the clientele tends to be older, so if you're more interested in a club vibe without as many kiddos, I highly recommend Voodoo. If you have to have your listed music choices, Voodoo won't cut it.

AT the Venetian there is a stage/bar lounge across from the poker room. They play r&b, 70s and 80s music. Live. I remember waking by after dinner at delmonicos. Speed had a dance and took off. But it was fun with the music you are looking for. Good luck. I also agree with my friend broncofn, cleo lounge at GEEZERS is also what you might be looking for.

Spazmatics play at SouthPoint every Saturday night and cover 80's, 90's and are fantastic plus funny. Also you can reserve seats online for $10 so they are cheap too. I've seen them many times in Austin and Vegas. Better vibe in Austin at the Cedar Street venue but SP has a bigger dance floor.

Single guys/gals our age seem to show up too. No, it's not a hook up, swingers place but I've had quite a bit of fun.

Older metal heads: Friday they have a metal cover band there.

Drinks are on the watery side. Beer is beer of course. I think they make their $$$ on the bar.

I was also going to suggest The Spazmatics. They are a fun group.

For typical 70's cover rock our favorite is Yellow Brick Road. They play live, outside on Fremont under the canopy on Thursday nights. They also play at off strip hotels in the weekends. Check out their Facebook page for their locations.

    Have a great time!

You might want to check out "Phoenix". They are a classic rock band and sound great. They play at the Cannery most Wednesday nights and most weekends you can find them at Mizuya Lounge at Mandalay Bay. They have a schedule up on their website - phoenix2005.com

You'll probably like the lounge at Paris. No cover, no line, no formality. Lately they seem to alternate two bands, both which do kind of a R&B/funk mix. Both of them are very decent and usually get a good crowd on the floor.

You're looking for the Bourbon Street Cabaret at the Orleans.

You'll always find dancing to '60s '70s, rock, motown/R&B and more just about every night. Their bands are terrific and usually a great middle aged (50+) crowd are partying like it was 1999. Great place to slots too as it's open walled and the sound is all around the cabaret.

The Lounge at Tropicana has great bands and the dance floor is always hopping. I believe Live bands are Thursday to Saturday, 8:30 til around 1:30 a.m.

Yeah if you are set on a "club" it is a tough proposition as most are EDM oriented and those that are not are Hip Hop oriented. A lounge will better suit your music tastes in most cases but I have seen many lounges that have people doing just as the name suggests and "lounging" not dancing.

Some places mentioned like Cleopatra's Barge at Caesars did seem to have more dancing going on and as a 27 year old guy I couldn't complain because their were a lot of cougars in the place.

It may be a tough mix to pull off in terms of the type of music and the dancing atmosphere but I'm sure the rest of the VMB members will guide you in a direction at least close to what you're looking for.

LeCaberet at Paris was pretty lively every night we were there, lot's of good music and a small dance floor.
