    My Trip Report

Warning: this trip will be heavily influenced by Percocet. I really hurt my back on Wednesday. Thursday I frantically went to the doctor explaining that Vegas was this weekend and we could NOT let my back screw it up for me!!! Thankfully she hooked me up with the good stuff.

Flight this morning was uneventful. I was jammed in there next to a very large woman who barely fit in the seatbelt. Just on the verge of needing an extender. She was friendly and our bodies kind of merged together during the flight. Took 3 Percocets during boarding/the flight and was in a warm and fuzzy happy place the whole way there.

Took Bell Trans shuttle from the airport. Faster than usual.

Actually, everything was faster than usual. I was one of the first ones to baggage claim and everyone's luggage was already piling up when I got there.

Was at NYNY to check in before 11.

I asked for a room on a high high floor with no connecting door. Highest floor with no connecting door was floor 8.

She upgraded me to a Madison Ave room on floor 18. Connecting door - but it's in a weird place in the back where it would be hard to hear anyone in the next room.

Went down and redeemed $25 Freeplay from MyVegas - made $20 with it on VP.

I decided to go to Freemont street, a place I usually avoid. Why? I don't really know. I took the SDX. I boarded it going south thinking it would just turn around and come back up the street. Didn't realize you had to get off and wait for another one to come. Took forever.

An hour and a half after I bought my ticket I got off on Freemont St.

Played some Pai Gow Poker at MSS. Friendly dealer, but no good. Lost $60 and said screw it.

More to come soon my dinner just got here.

Sucks about your back. But looking forward to seeing a Percocet-laced TR! If you're stuck at the end of the hall again, you probably will see Jack Nicholson! :evillaugh

Ok... So after losing $60 at MSS playing Pai Gow I walked over to Four Queens and played.... Pai Gow. Made back my money and decided it was dinner time. The sign listing the specials for players club members at Magnolias piqued my interest. Decided to eat there.

So I'm seated next to this table of six people. At the head of the table is this giant blowhard guy who clearly loves to hear himself talk. He is talking SO LOUD. Apparently he is a lawyer. He is describing one of his clients, or I couldn't tell if it was his client or someone he prosecuted..... Anyway he was talking about OJ Simpson. This is what I overheard, I really can't believe he was talking about this SO LOUD in a very public space.

Here's the jist of what I got: OJ banged a transvestite. Admitted to her that he's a murderer. They had his admission on tape or something but it couldn't be admitted for some legal reason. OJ caught HIV from her (the guy said AIDs but I'm assuming he meant HIV). Anyway, he said OJ will be released from prison soon (within the next few months) because of his "blood disease." OJ gets $47,000 a month pension from the NFL. At the end the guy was like, "you just watch, he'll be released soon. And you'll know why..." And everyone at the table was eating this shit up, like, "oh yeah we'll keep a look out in the news for it."

It was a fascinating conversation to listen to.

Pathological liars are fun! My g/f's cousin is one...:grrr: Simpson shouldn't be eligible for parole until 2017. But they sure as hell make some decent stories!

It can be very entertaining listening to other conversations. Hubby loves it when I "shoosh" him so I can hear the end of a conversation I'm eavesdropping on lol

Hearing that OJ story is what inspired me to whip out my phone and start this trip report right there in Magnolias as I was waiting for my...

See, the connecting door is way back there so it's not a big deal.

The arena behind NYNY is coming along nicely:

So last night was uneventful. I stayed at NYNY and played Pai Gow for a couple of hours. Lost $100.

I think yesterday was the first day I've been in Vegas where I didn't play one hand of blackjack.... Odd. All I played was Pai Gow Poker. I've been getting into that more and more lately.

So I ended yesterday down $100 and some change.

Slept pretty good for Vegas standards - no doubt due to my stockpile of pharmaceuticals in my room for my back.

Woke up and did the traditional all you can eat pancake breakfast at America cafe in NYNY.

Walked over to MGM. Verified that they are now an all 6:5 lame-ass casino.

Walked over to Excalibur. Wanted to play Pai Gow. Something told me keep walking.

Went over to Luxor. Pai Gow table had one spot left. Squeezed in there. Third hand: Royal Flush!

Made a quick $150. (Ever since my January debacle here at NYNY I play a dollar on the fortune bonus.)

After Luxor, I went down to Bellagio intending to finally get some BJ play in.

Well I realized that their Pai Gow tables were only $10. I didn't think they ever went below $25 at Bellagio. So I played that for a bit. But I was alone. And the dealer was depressed or something. So I left after a bit. Up like $30 or something...

I wanted to play BJ with my absolute favorite dealer: Mabel. Here's a creeper pic I snapped of her:

But her table was totally full. Not surprising, she's a great dealer. Kind of dry and sarcastic, and knows perfect basic strategy and doesn't let people make dumb mistakes without letting them know they're dumb.

So I sat down at another of my favorite dealers' tables. Her name is Evie. She is c-r-a-z-y. But hilarious.

Today however, her table was awful. She couldn't bust and all we could do was bust. I almost lost my $100 buy in. Got down to like $20. Somehow, I built it back up to $100 and told her I was getting the hell outta there while I was even.

After that, I came back to NYNY. Played some more Pai Gow. Can't even remember if I won or lost.

Ate lunch/dinner at Gonzalez y Gonzalez. Yummy as usual. Good service also.

Then I went over to Mandalay Bay for a meet and greet for one of the MyVegas fan groups on Facebook. Some of the behind the scenes MyVegas people were there too. They had a raffle and gave away some prizes. Someone got an iPad. Someone won tickets to a party with Shaq this summer. I didn't win anything.

It was held in the Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay. Excellent views up there.

After that I headed back to NYNY. Played Pai Gow. When the new dealer came on at 8:00 I was all alone. When I'm alone I bank whenever possible. This is the 2nd night in a row when I was alone at 8:00 and the new dealer didn't know what to do when I wanted to bank. She got flustered and I could tell she was annoyed. Learn how to do your job, honey. Left after making $50.

Play any "Dream Card" while stalking Mabel? I didn't get around to checking the standard units, but the spin poker version has some decent paytables on them.

I will be doing the same if Mlife continues the 6:5 change at more of their casinos.

Good luck during the rest of your trip!

great trip report! love the pics! I agree the best view of the strip is from the top of MB. Is Evie the BJ dealer with the french accent? She was SO MUCH fun on my last trip!

She has a very thick east coast accent as if she's from Brooklyn or Boston or something...

Last night I didn't gamble anymore. Came back to my room and watched The Walking Dead season finale. Then went to bed.

Woke up this morning and went to the Aria for the breakfast buffet. Used a MyVegas reward so it was free. Skipped the line with my gold card and got some dirty looks. Buffet was good. Service was good (which is a change - service is usually awful there).

I was going to go gamble at the Bellagio but no one was playing Pai Gow and the blackjack tables looked depressing as well.

My leg has been bothering me this morning. It's because of my back issues. Five years ago I had a herniated disc that required surgery. It did permanent nerve damage to my left leg. Nothing too serious, just every now and then it'll randomly give out on me as I'm walking and I almost fall (I'm good at catching myself and not actually falling). Anyway, today my left leg has been hurting, similar to how it did five years ago.

So I took the monorail from Ballys to MGM and came back to my room and popped a couple Percocet. Laid down and took a little breather waiting for it to kick in.

It has kicked in so it's time to get out there and seize the day.

So yesterday I went to TI and played Pai Gow there for a while. Their Fortune paytable isn't as good as most other strip hotels. There were no really memorable hands but I had a good time and left the table even. When I first got there there was this strange lady playing. She kept random pulling out her cell phone then asking me what time it was. I wanted to say, "the same time it says on your phone." At one point she randomly decided she was done. She leaves all her remaining money on the table and says the dealer can have it. So the dealer ended up getting a random $65 tip from her...

After TI I went to the Bellagio to play Blackjack. Went to Mabel's table. Oh boy was it bad. And she must not have been in a good mood. Hardly said one word. I think it was the annoying people at her table. I bolted to a different table quick. And that wasn't much better. Lost my $100 buy in. The last hand, I had already busted out. Some guy splits his 10s against the dealer's 8. He busts one and gets a 20 on the other one. Then the dealer pulls a 21 out of his ass. I go "serves you right," and promptly left the table. Lol

Came back to NYNY after that and played Pai Gow for a bit. There were two guys at the table who clearly thought they were God's gift to the earth. Talking about their Vegas exploits and whatnot. They way they were bragging about themselves you'd think they would have been betting more than $10 a hand.

Left there about even. Went to dinner at the Aria Cafe. I was in the mood for nachos:

Came back to NYNY. Played Pai Gow for a good three hours. The dealer remembered me from my last trip here in July. She asked if I was a local. lol. Lost my $100 buy in, but it's hard to complain about that when you get a good three hours of play out of it. Whereas you can lose $100 at blackjack in like 3 minutes.

I counted my cash and my running total for the trip so far is -$90. Not too shabby, I've had way way worse.

Haha heard ya on the table min players acting like they're whales. It's always the braggarts who are most often pathetic liars.

Glad you're having fun so far and those nachos are killing me they look so good!

Yesterday: woke up and headed over to the Bellagio for their breakfast buffet. To be honest, I was underwhelmed. Not enough variety of breakfast foods, IMO.

Then I played some BJ there. Didn't really like the dealer. He was kind of cold towards me and I don't know why. Then some guy came in and sat at third base and they like instantly started up a conversation. This slowed the game waaaaay down. That's one of my biggest pet peeves, when dealers get to talking and stop actually dealing. JUST SHUT UP AND DEAL THE CARDS.

I was up a little and then it started to turn so I left.

I walked to the MGM Grand - their Pai Gow table was full so I couldn't play there. Walked through the Tropicana just to have a look - what a sad small lonely casino that is. Went to the Excalibur and played Pai Gow for a bit. Nothing exciting happened there.

Headed to Monte Carlo and played Pai Gow there for about a good three hours I think. The dealer named Rose was friendly and had some good dealing stories to tell. Two people got four aces while I was playing there. Where was that damn joker hiding? Lost $80 - but again for three hours of entertainment and some free drinks I have no complaints.

After that I used the $50 MyVegas dining credit at the Pub at Monte Carlo. Stuffed myself full and still only spent $30. The waitress gave me a big margarita to go so I could use up more of the credit.

Came back to my room and relaxed. Then headed back to the Bellagio. Played BJ at Mabel's table. She was back to her normal self. Very lively and entertaining. I don't know what was wrong the day before.... She said she's been dealing for 40 years and she likes Bellagio the best. I asked her the worst place she dealt and she said Four Queens. Ended up winning like $50 or something. I didn't stay long after the shift change at 8:00.

Then I headed back to NYNY and played Pai Gow for the rest of the night. It was a good session. Dealer had lots of Pai Gows and lots of really weak low hands so I had lots of pushes when I had crap hands. I was getting ready to leave the table about even then I got a straight flush. Then I was able to build it up a little more and ended up making $100.

That was all for last night.

Checked my bill this morning and noticed that they were charging me resort fees. I was specifically told that I wouldn't have to pay them with the offer I booked so I called the front desk and bitched. She took them off.

Then I went to the Excalibur buffet for breakfast. Thought I'd see how it is after the renovations. It looks nice and there's a good selection of breakfast foods.... but the food is so bland. I was not impressed.
