War was the first table game we ever played. Played at the Hacienda.
My wife likes War a lot.

How is this more ridiculous than a slot tournament?

I've been studying rock, paper, scissors strategy from this book, index.jpg but my dreams of turning professional are fading. I'm at the age where people see a decline in their mental acuity necessary to excel at RPS. It's a bit depressing.

Maybe they'll bring back Red Dog.... I played that a few times at Harrahs maybe 15 years ago...
every time the dealer lost, he would say something like "looks like we'll have to shut down the sign lights tonight" or "i hope my paycheck is good this week" lol

Sounds a little like SNL's Celebrity Jeopardy- "pick a number between 4 and 6." Answer given- "THREVE".

    Beat me to it.

Until I realized that with slots you can alter the amount of times you hit the MAX button and then switch to the handle or the SPIN button. It makes a difference you know!

Is it really much different than a baccarat tournament? Yes I'm aware it's a much higher house edge but doesn't require any strategy unlike blackjack.

Seriously though, I don't get it. How is it different from a baccarat tourney?

It is super silly... I am playing mainly because I want to say I did it. They could just as easily had a coin flip tournament, pick a number tournament, etc. The strategy is certainly not in the game, but in the betting. In particular are you betting (and winning) enough to keep you ahead of your table mates. Blackjack tournaments are more complex, as you obviously have to manage how to play the hands in addition to the betting strategies. I'll come back and let you know how the tournament goes...

I've seen Baccarat tourneys, Slot tourneys, Video Poker tourneys, Blackjack tourneys, but War? Good God y'all, what is it good for?
