Hi - I am just about to book a weekend in June at MB through my MLife account. Rates are pretty decent @ 121 and 129 for a Fri/Sat night for a deluxe king room. I noticed that the Delano is 151 and 174 for the deluxe king. The question.....is it worth the extra $75 total for the 2 nights?

I'm not a fussy guy and MB has always been fine for me. I have stayed at THE Hotel and I really can't remember if I was impressed...I guess it obviously didn't leave that much of an impression on me if I can't remember. I'm not cheap but I would prefer to spend the $75 on something else if the rooms are comparable. I'm bringing a girl - so it wouldn't hurt to impress her if the Delano room is that much better...I'm getting lucky either way so it's not like it's critical to my success.

So you think there is relative value in taking the Delano for the extra $75?

Any comments will be appreciated. :peace:

If it's her first time in Vegas...she won't know what she is missing. The MB rooms are nice and comfortable. Take the money and rent a limo or buy her an expensive meal. That will impress her!!!

I've only stayed in MB's Great Room "suite" (really just a bigger room) and the Sky Suite (or whatever it's called, was awesome, though), and Delano's basic King Suite, but say a weekend in Vegas would be nice at Delano...and that's exactly what I did. I enjoyed Delano a bunch. Longer and the GR suite would be perfect.

Standard MB room is pretty nice. Good size bathroom, comfortable bed, but the seating is pretty uncomfortable, cramped, and in the corner, and overall the room is dated (rooms are getting refreshed in 2015 supposedly).

If you're going to spend a decent amount of time in the room, I would pick the Delano. It's a nice looking room, some extra space to stretch-out, and a bigger shower :)wink2:).

I would go with the Delano. The rooms are better compared to MB room. All the rooms at Delano are suite-like (there is a wall dividing the living room from the bed room). The rooms at MB feel a little bit outdated and basic. Still good rooms though.

They share the same casino; the walk from Delano is not far from the casino either (by the sports book).

If I was bringing a girl and had to chose between MB vs Delano basic room, I would go with Delano in a heart beat. I think she will like it better also. It has a more private feel (less crowded) with better rooms (much better). You mine as well get a limo too. And take her to some fancy dinners. And get tickets to a show or so. Lol, just my personal take.

I would go with the Delano if I was bringing a girl. It is a real suite. Ask for a North facing (strip view) room for maximum impact. Full disclosure! I normally stay there and bring a girl so maybe I am biased. :wink2:

Mandalay Bay isn't bad by any means, but I'd go with Delano.

The Delano is obviously better, but it's more expensive and I'm not certain the increase in quality necessarily justifies the cost.

I've stayed in a regular MB room and a suite, then I've also stayed in a Delano suite. The MB room was fine, clean, nothing was broken and just kinda a general type of room. The suite at MB was really pretty interesting with the bath in like, the center of the room, in it's own room.. Good seating, some cool couches and a large room. It was pretty nice. The Delano suite had a separate living room and bed room, both were nice. Clean, great condition and interesting furniture with floor to ceiling windows (though I think the MB rooms had floor to ceiling windows too).

For me, I opt to stay at MB to save the money but the Delano rooms are nicer. It really depends on what you want and if you're going to use the room a lot. If you just plan on sleeping in the room, the standard MB room won't disappoint. If you want something a bit more interesting, you like to lounge in the room a bit or you want to impress someone, the Delano room would be worth the extra cost.

The price of $75 a night is on the higher end of what I would pay for the upgrade if I wanted it. If it were $30-$50 more for Delano, I'd certainly do that, if it were $125 more a night, I wouldn't do that. Just to give you my impression of the value the upgrade provides.

with the change to Delano has come a change in customer service. It's top notch. they recognize you, tend to any needs you may have, etc.
It has a resort feel to it... and then there's the shower ;)

both are nice and both share the same pools and casino...but Delano's basic room is a suite with a large bathroom.. in fact the basic 1 Bedroom King has a powder room off of the living room.. so a 2nd bathroom, which will definately impress a girl.. The updates at the Delano are simply lovely and it's very private and less crowded. I love it!!

I've stayed at both (standard MB room) and very much liked both but Delano definitely felt nicer and the desk is much less crowded for check in/out. For $75 total though I'd really have to consider it- for $50 almost certainly. When I stayed at Delano I had an MB room booked and got an email offer to upgrade for only $20 per night which was definitely worth it.

Thanks for the comments. I went with the Delano - figured it was worth a try since I haven't been to this property since January 2012 and would like to see the changes. And for $75 - that's 1 or 2 hands of BJ for me so just figured I would give it a shot. Looking forward to it.
