It won't be long until one of the properties has a higher resort fee that the room rate. Will it be a casino or hotel who knows. This last year some of the rates have gone up a good % but maybe not large $ amount. The responses may be interesting.

I wonder if Excalibur could one day have a $29 rate and a $29.99 resort fee for a midweek night in December. They're not far off of either number, really.

I have basic room booked at Harrahs for 5 nights starting Easter Sunday, 4/5/15 - 4/10/15, with a room cost of $21/night and resort fee of $25/night. Took some doing and using some codes to get the room cost down there but I think it was only around $37/night when I started.

By the end of next year there will be at least one post about a place on the strip having a resort fee more than the hotel fee.

With all the comped rooms being handed out the resort fee will be their way around it.

Soon they will advertise, "Stay and Eat for Free"......then have a $150/night per person inclusive resort fee. :evillaugh

The D and Golden Gate from time to time have cheaper rooms than resort fees.

I'm surprised at the responses so far as the casinos are really pushing the resort fee(s). Might some look at staying at hotels than casinos and if so how many that could be interesting.

It's no big deal to me, my room total at Bally's for 6 nights in June is about $9 per, my resort fee is about $30 per, so about $40 per night total. I paid about $59 per night at Bally's in the 80's.
Also, my roughly $200 hotel/fee is being paid off with my Social Rewards credits at check out.
I still have copies of my Hotel bills from La Quinta Inn (before NYNY/Monte Carlo was even built) from the mid 90's @ $59 per.

Yes, the resort fee in many instances far outweighs the actual hotel bill, but nowadays, at least with MGM and Caesars, it can be offset with reward cards as well as MyVegas and Social Rewards.

I'm pretty sure the Sahara had a resort fee and they often had sub $10 rates during the week (I could swear I remember a big thing about $1 rooms at the Sahara.)

A bit like the budget airlines here in the UK, Flight cost 15 GBP, Taxes/charges/fees 62.50 GBP Total 77 GBP..... All this so they can advertise a low price.
