I always thought my best Vegas time would be with my best guy friends. Instead, we spent so much time meandering slowly from casino to casino that we hardly "saw" anything. We had some lame meals and gambling and shows were frequently bypassed for moseying our way down the strip.

Conversely, going with my wife has always been a blast. She's normally very laid back and a go-with-the-flow kind of person. In Vegas, she keeps the GWTF mentality, but is so anxious to do and maximize the time that we have there. We do so much more than just wandering aimlessly that our trips leave us exhausted by the end, but if you can't use the 96 hour adrenaline rush that Vegas gives you... what good is your trip!?

My best and only Vegas partner is my Wife. She is my best friend and the love of my life. We always enjoy Vegas together and the secret to this is because we are so considerate of the other (I know, this sounds real corny) but it's true.

Because of this my solo trips were born. My wife knew that I would stop gambling because she was by herself and she knew that deep inside I wanted to gamble more. Also the fact that I love going to Vegas more than once a year while for her 1 trip a year is good enough.

This is one of many reasons why I love her. She's willing to let me go solo to enjoy myself which is why when we go together I strive to make the trip all about her and what she wants to do and see.

It works out perfect for both of us!

My best Vegas Buddy is my best friend. We both like exactly the same things. Very weird but we can be walking around and turn to each other and say exactly the same idea we have just had about what to do next. It's just the strangest thing. We make the same mistakes at the same time, ie both try to use our players card to get in the room and other really stupid things. Neither know when to stop throwing money in to the machines and both think we can win more after having a win and then say 'why the hell did you just let me do that?' Lol. This year we have decided to only gamble every other day (17 days) and go Off Strip and sightsee to stop us both spending far too much. I go with other friends too but although I don't spend half the amount of money the fun is nowhere near the same as being with someone who is as stupid as you are!

It wouldn't be anyone I usually hang with. Give me Vegas-centered people and/or people who know how to have fun.

I have become acquainted with a large number of interesting people on Las Vegas themed websites, mostly at the defunct (to me) Las Vegas Advisor. I have subsequently met about 20 of them in person in Las Vegas and elsewhere. One of them just showed up about a week ago at a place where we were vacationing. Although I have a few favorites, any one of the 20, or a combination thereof, plus several I have yet to meet in person, would be my choice.

My sister and I are both married to guys that hunt together for three solid months (neither of them are gamblers). About 25 years ago we decided we also needed a vacation and hence the annual sister trips to Vegas began. The middle sister was only able to swing it every other year...so she is on our even year plan. My love of downtown Vegas must have influenced my oldest son....I took him with us for his 21st birthday gift and he hasn't missed a annual trip since. One year he was living in Indonesia and still didn't miss the annual trip.

Now my son lives in Texas and it works out great that the sisters and son continue the annual trip tradition. We all love downtown, get hungry at the same time, love to play blackjack together, laugh at the same stupid suff, etc. What also works great is that we all are avid downtown lovers and barely go to the strip (unless it is to see a show). It isn't unusual for someone to head to the room for a break, go watch sports at the Boar, go off for slot machines, etc. Oh, yes.....I have the perfect Vegas companions for sure.

Once a year I go with friends that like to splurge on fine-dining, a show, and drinks at a lounge while people-watching. It has become a tradition that the first afternoon we're there, we go to Petrossian Lounge in Bellagio listening to the pianist while having a caviar sampler and sparkling wine.

pretty much how we roll, but with one caveat.

my solo trips I usually have a buddy or two to hang with... and we have an understanding....
we usually plan to meet at some point and time for dinner, but if someone doesn't make it there , we don't worry about it.
We know Vegas has all kinds of distractions... you could be on a roll at the tables or you could be having another type of roll.
