As you may know I am big on mood, ambiance...the kind of atmosphere the decor creates. A romantic atmosphere is a must. Comfort is a basic expectation without which I would not stay in the room. Service is just OK for me but I don't look for service when staying at an upscale hotel. However, exceptional service will definitely improve the experience. Room features do not float my boat much either.

Why would/do you pay for an upscale room as opposed to another hotel? What are you looking for? What sets it apart for you that makes it necessary/important?

I don't know. I might never leave the room if I had one of those.

A real suite...not just a big room. Something with defined, separate, rooms. 2nd item is a refrigerator and microwave.

Great bed, quality linens, high end shower with separate tub, floor to ceiling windows, turn down service.

Overall service experience before and during the stay is also something of value to us.

Would be nice if my Wife had a vanity for herself, also a sit down area with lit up mirror for her to do her make-up in the morning.

For myself all I want is a clean room with functional sinks, shower, and toilet. Oh, and a bed to sleep would be nice too.

To echo a lot of what's already been said - high end quality bed, quality linens, high end toiletries and amenities, quality shower, robes and slippers, turndown, top notch service before, during and after, butler or concierge if/where applicable.

That thing makes me giggle so much. Every. Single. Time. I use it.

A big bathroom like the Rush Tower rooms at the GN. Unfortunately other hotels downtown don't have much to offer in this area, although I'm not sure about the D and the DTG.

Quiet. High-quality linens and toiletries. A view. Elbow room. Comfy seating. Firm bed. Big shower and dual vanities, wc. And nothing at all wrong with a good Pinot or a Don Julio blanco waiting when you arrive.

That's funny. The only thing I really care about is being as far away from the elevator as possible, so there's not a lot of foot traffic near my door. PH once pre-registered me only three doors from the elevator, and I waited in line for a chance to correct the problem and be in the third furthest room from the elevator.
