In addition to this article South Point has a free slot tournament every Thursday for seniors. I have played in it on 3 trips. Won't be there on a Thursday on our upcoming trip.

Things like this are encouraging, as the trend over the past few years seems to be that they want to cater more to the twentyboppers who seem to go for such things as 6:5 blackjack, short-pay VP and velvet rope clubs.

many hotel casinos offer promotions or discounts for seniors. The good thing is that vegas rates seniors as people 50 and older. Many states/cities regard seniors as 55, 60 or 65 so vegas is one place where you are 50 and a senior.

Strip Casinos cater to the "twentyboppers", off-strip/downtown cater to "seniors".
    They know their clientele...

The Bingo I played gave out jello shots when O-69 was called:evillaugh If there was a tie you usually had a contest to break the tie. I once was involved in a tie. I thought I heard the words "dance off" so I start shakin what my momma gave me and I was met by a bunch of WTF!? looks. Turns out it was a "plank off". Yeah......fail.:Þ Is this how bingo off-strip works??

Just from my own point of view, I'm pretty much leaning towards spending the whole vacation on Fremont, with day trips to the Strip, the exact opposite of what it used to be.

That still doesn't mean I will ever set foot in The Orleans.

Smart move for casinos....seniors have the money and the time to spend....twentysomethings may have money but not a lot of extra time....if they have time,it means they are unemployed and don't ha v e the money

At the premium outlets, while there are many stores that participate in the Tuesday seniors specials be aware that not everything may qualify for the 10% discount. I found this out the hard way, found out that some stores on the list don't give the discount to some items that are already discounted or are on sale.

Always best to ask which items qualify for discounts before they ring up the items, that way you aren't surprised when you are billed the full price for an item. The only problem is that they may not know which items qualify for the discounts until they ring up the item. Best to watch when they ring it up so you know which items aren't discounted. Then you can decide if you still want to buy the item.

Actually many hotels and casinos are changing and targeting the twenty and thirty somethings. You see it on the strip with the many niteclubs and pools and day clubs. Downtown is also participating in this, you see a lot more "party pits" with loud music and scantily clad female dealers, you also see it on the FSE with some casinos offering drinks outside and scantily clad girls dancing and serving customers.

While the seniors may have the money the casinos know that seniors are frugal and aren't as impulsive as the youngsters. They are realizing that the youngsters will spend money to get into the clubs and pool parties and pay higher prices for lots of drinks at the clubs and pools and will sit and play 6/5 bj with scantily clad dealers. The seniors are smart and aren't as likely to do these things. The casinos and hotels are realizing they need to target both ends of the spectrum as both are needed to bring in income.

I remember getting players card at Sunset Station and was wondering why my card was different from my niece's card. It said 50+ on it and I didn't understand. When I found out what it meant I must admit I was happy and sad at the same time. Happy that I got some freeplay but sad that Vegas sees me as a senior. (I just turned 52 at that time, lol!)

Are you saying seniors don't like scantily clad girls?

Seniors are annoying... what with their life-alert necklaces, medic-alert bracelets, hover-round rascals, walkers and oxygen-tanks. They're also slow and ridiculously frugal what with their blue-plate specials and their WAX bus passes. Hmmmmmm... probably just as much wrong with that comment, as it is to assume the younger folks that have money are on "Daddie's credit-card" and the ones who don't and have time are unemployed! Las Vegas caters to a wide swath of society... can't we all just get along? I'll pass with caution, as I swing around a group of sidewalk-clogging group of geezers out looking for a liver and onions special at 4 p.m.
