So I have a comped stay at the Mirage for a Friday and Saturday night in a regular room. Wondering how many points from slots I need to earn to pay off the room comp and about $200 in room charges without using express comps? Thanks
If the room is comped on a offer they're probably not going to come back and charge you. And there really isn't a real tier credit to comp translation. You don't pay for comps with points. For slots its your coin in and the house hold to determine your theoretical loss. The hold on penny slots will be a lot higher than the higher denoms.
He's asking about getting an additional $200 F&B picked up on top of the upfront room comp without using ECs. And slot points are a more accurate measure than coin in because of the specialty slot issue.
I put about 30,000 tier credits (slot play) on my card a couple of weeks ago over a 3 day stay. Had 1 night of hotel room and resort fees totaling about $280. When I called VIP in the morning of checkout, they took it all off without using my express comps.
I have to admit, it was pretty easy putting that on the card and I gambled a bit across mgm, nyny, aria, Bellagio and Monte Carlo. It wasn't near the action I give Ceasars but seemed to get alot more play for the money in their (mgm) slots.
Personally, I would not try to figure it out. Play as you want to play, and then see. You could blow a few thousand to MAYBE get $200 in comps. If you get em, you get em. If not, then....
The rule of thumb I use for mLife is 10k TC per day for a normal room. At lower end properties, this'll probably include some F&B ("resort credit" or "casino credit" or whatever they call it). At the top properties, you'd be restricted to weeknights or slow months. But, roughly, 10k = free room.
That sounds right. That would be around $450-$500 theo loss a day. That should cover a room with the 30-40% of theo comp. The tricky thing is the "Specialty Slots". They seem to vary by property, some don't even know about them, and I get different answers from different employees about how they use them for primary comps. One day I hope to know.
That's a great point. Most of my 10k TCs per day were from specialty slots. I wonder if they look at those differently than the classic slots (reels etc.)
I do know that specialty slots accumulate TC more slowly. There's a thread on specialty slots here at VMB. I use 10k TC ~ Free Room because it's so easy to pull up TC, and this value is square in the middle of play and resort posh-itude. 10k TC could be a theo from $50 (all VP) to $1000 (all specialty penny slots). Or more or less. And a free room might require a theo from $200 to $2000, depending on the hotel, day of the week, etc. Hence the huge YMMV.
