    My Trip Report

OK, so I arrived in Reno at 12:30 AM. The TC's from Las Vegas were counted, But not accurately displayed when I put my card in the machine. Since I was pissed off at my own stupidity (I like to call it a tactical error, see my latest LV trip report) I wasn't really keeping track and decided to play until I hit 1000 TCs to make sure I'd get the bonus. Well, I did, but it was very costly, and I ended the night down about $2k.

OK, up in the morning. Went downstairs into the Sonoma Slot room and got killed playing $10 Cleopatra. Sat down at Buffalo Stampede, and look what happened:

    20150314_101057_rotated.jpg

    Even better, no W2-G!!!

OK, so now up a little for the day, I hit for $200 and $300 on some other slots. I decided to take a break and drive down to Virginia City to Delat Saloon since I was driving a car that would actually fun to take the trip, I was upgraded to a Scion FRS. I should have checked the calendar because there was a festival on the main street of Virginia City, so I turned around and went back to the hotel. However, I took some pictures just to show you guys that it's not all about gambling.

More pictures later after I have time to edit them.

Ok, last part for now, so I was down in the "quiet" part of the casino, the Eat side, playing $5.00 (pennies) Pompeii, when look what happened:

    20150314_130204_rotated.jpg

Handpay and W2-G for $2011. OK, so now I'm almost back to even, (well, about $1500 down still), I had less than 1000 TCs and my "goal" was to have a 2500 TC day.

more later. long story short. at 4:30PM, I'm down about $1000 more or less, and will make Diamond once the bonus points are added tomorrow. I made the 2500 TC today, and I'm at 13,100 and change but not going to play any more. I have given Harrah's and CET their action. I'm going to take a walk to Siena (after I put money back in the envelope in the safe). Might use RCs to eat dinner at the buffet.

Thanks for reading. I hope that Timspeed makes it up here tonight.

Good comeback! G/f really likes Pompeii. It's the game she got her biggest ever slot hit on (600X bet), on Thanksgiving of all days... I'm also still waiting to play the game when I hear the song with the same name play in the casino...:evillaugh

Now burn those RCs like a volcano!

Yeah, but since the bonus points won't be delivered until 4/15 and I have a trip to Caesars LV on 4/5, I wanted to get it before then if it didn't "cost" too much.

Drive was clear and no problems.

Ohhhhh you shudda stuck around up in VC... the BIG Mountain Oyster Fry was goin' on this weekend !!! And the weather was BEAUTIFUL around these parts today... mid 70's!!! The Delta Saloon and Bucket of Blood are my 2 favorite places to visit up there, but you're right... when one of those events is going on, it's impossible to pop in for an hour or 2... hell, it takes that long to find a parking spot!

So, since I had accomplished my immediate objective of making Diamond, I headed over to Sienna to check them out and sign up for their players club.

I ended up winning $900 on the Fu Dao Le machine. I was so surprised, I forgot to take a picture!!

Well, I did take a picture, but it was crappy.

    Fu_Dao_le_20150314_172806.jpg

The three symbols on reels 2, 3, and 4 all expanded to fill the columns with Wild symbols..

Went back and had dinner at Harrah's buffet. Ate crab and prime rib. The buffet is "kinda sad".

So, at this point, I think I'm done. I am between even and down $500. I put most of my money and most of the ATM cards in my envelope and locked them in the safe. I'm gonna see what movies are playing in town and go to one of them.

I think I'm going home early in the morning tomorrow.

Harrah's Reno is a "nice" place if gambling is all you want to do. I think next time I'll go to Harvey's in Tahoe. I'd also like to checkout the new Hard Rock (old Sahara).

Really nice, new theaters just a few blocks south of you... right at the Truckee River... very easy walk on a beautiful night like tonight.

You should head over to the Peppermill so you can locate the $1200 I lost today....ugh....not a single quad in the house for me. If you can hit the playboy platinum quick hits ($1.50 per spin), you could win $20,000........

    DaiLun,
We're going up NEXT weekend (wife is too tired this weekend).
    Good to hear your hits!
Also, SWEET score on the Scion FRS! (I love that and the Subaru BRZ)
If you're not too tired, take $100 and go play craps at 2am at Cal-Neva...if you see a dealer named Brad, tell him Tim (The hot shooter from Siena) says Hi.

Thanks Timspeed. Good luck next weekend. I went to see the movie "Chappie" tonight and I'm too tired to go out, so I'm turning in. It's 11:15 and my sleep schedule is screwed up enough as it is.

OK, a postscript. Got dinner and breakfast comped by the duty host, and I just checked and they used Reward credits to provide the comps. I asked for the Resort fee to be comped since I was making Diamond level later that day. Don't know if it was comped, haven't seen the invoice yet.

Stopped by Thunder Valley in Lincoln on the way home. Other than being big and having a lot of slot machines, I can't see why I would go there. Played for an hour. Made $10.00.

So the total for the Reno trip was about "even".

Between Silver Strike activity and CET Diamond activity, this was more like "work".

The total "cost" for making Diamond was -$4000, that is, since I was up $7000 from Harrah's on my last trip and I dropped $3000 at Caesars, I'm actually up $4000 after making Diamond. Not bad, but still a lot of work considering my tactical error at Caesars on Friday morning.

Good job and congrats to another "new Diamond"

I spent many of my trips in Reno. Used to drive or take bus trips several times a year with my Mom. We always had a great time. Liked Virginia City lots too!

So I gotta ask, Whats the benefit of becoming DIAD? Do they award you with a ton of huge freeplay offers?

I can answer this pretty well...
My wife had NEVER had a card with CET...
We went down to Harrahs Rincon (San Diego), put in $25k on video poker ($1 8/5 BP), then $12.5k on slots ($5 3-reelers) to earn 5000TC in a day (DIAD with the 10k bonus TC's). We did this on 9/1/2014, and in November, they gave us $750 per week in FreePlay (which could be "banked", so it added up to $3000 FSP at the end of the month)
Since then, we're really not put in any play at a CET, but we HAVE used many offers (free rooms in Vegas, Tunica, Laughlin, Reno, and Lake Tahoe) as well as a $400FSP + $300 Resort Credit on Valentine's day weekend.
PLUS we have 4th of July booked for Lake Tahoe, AND our wedding Anniversary in Vegas...
However, NOW, we have NO MORE free rooms/offers
BUT, I'd say we made out on the deal ;)

What Tim and his wife experienced is a good reason to go BIG with a brand new account. The drawback is, if you collect all those offers and don't give a similar level of play in the future, they'll cut you off and it will take a lot of play to start getting offers again.

If you have a Total Rewards card already FXT, it's unlikely they will be as generous if you make DIAD compared to what Tim saw because they know your previous play isn't typically that heavy.

Tim, with that level of play did you get Saturdays in Vegas at some of the lesser properties at least (Harrahs, Ballys, or perhaps PH or Paris)? I periodically get Saturdays (actually, more like rarely but get Fridays at almost all properties save for Caesars) and while I'm mostly a BJ player, do play a lot of VP at the $1 level and am considering this now..

My requirements are a little different.

Since I travel to Las Vegas fairly regularly, these Diamond benefits were the most valuable

    1)Access to Diamond lounges
2)Two free show tickets per month
    3)Waiver of casino resort fees

Of course, the free play will be a bonus, Right now I can "get rooms" at any of the CET properties with the exception of NOBU.

Thanks for the info. I don't have a TR/Mlife card so maybe in the future, I'll give it a shot. Tim how much did you invest in your DIAD? DaiLun, you came out about even on your run right?
