I was planning on going to Vegas during the first weekend of April, but my wife ended up making plans for Tahoe with her side of the family, during the last week of March. This pretty much scraps my planned Vegas trip, but not my ability to gamble...haha [emoji48]. I have never been to Tahoe, but I am pretty excited to go! What's everyone's favorite Tahoe casino...Harrah's or Harvey's?

    Sin,
Let me know when you're going and i'll try to make a day trip to play UTH with ya.

Stay at Harvey's, in the Mountain Tower (Higher Floor!) beautiful lake view
Harrahs and harvey's are connected via an underground walkway (across the street from each other; which is Highway 50)
Montbleau is OK...and the new HardRock is too...but I'd stick to Harvey's/Harrahs just for simplicity (and I think you're a Diamond, right?)

We are actually renting a house out there, since our group will be fairly large. Will be there from 3/22-3/27 (Sunday - Friday). I'm always game for UTH!

Yes, I am Diamond...are the DL's pretty good?

Timspeed I disagree. I hate Harvey's Stay at Harrah's. Diamond lounge and dealers are better at Harrah's. Montbleau is ok and the Hard rock just open.

Sindustry I think you will like Harrah's more and Gi Fu Loh is pretty good for dinner.

I will never go back to Harvey's.

I heard the Peppermill in Reno is good but I have not been there.

Fuuuck, I can't get there till Friday night, but I could drive up sunday morning, depending on when you get there...
The DL at Harvey's is nice (looks over the lake)

If you go, only go if plan to gamble on your own anyways, as my gambling schedule will be determined by my kids...lol. There may be a couple days where my wife and her side of the family may allow me to take her dad to the casinos during the day. However, I foresee most of my gambling taking place late night, after the kids are ready for bed. My wife and my MIL are hesitant in letting my FIL gamble...he got carried away on our Vegas trip last year and lost way more than he brought.

Harrahs is better than Harveys. The Harveys DL has nice views but it's sort of out of the way. The Harrahs DL is conveniently located by the high limit slots area. Plus your hosts are probably stationed at Harrahs, so that eliminates lots of walking.

I was at Pala last night...a guy at my UTH table said someone won $1 mil on a penny version of Wolf Run at Pechanga earlier in the day. I still haven't found out if he was mistaken yet.

I've always preferred Harvey's over Harrah's, but frankly since they've become sister properties, it's tough to tell much difference between them. Harvey Gross is rolling in his grave knowing his old competitor, Bill Harrah's place and his are twins. Honestly, I kinda prefer the vibe at Mont Bleu (old Caesar's Tahoe) and yes the new Hard Rock (refurbished Horizon) is right there at south-shore too. Very easy to walk back and forth between them.

On a penny version? Unless there is some network progressive on it (which I am pretty sure "Wolf Run" can't have), he's totally wrong about the details. If you cover the board with wilds, you only get paid 1000 for 1.

Yeah, I was shocked when he told me. I am hoping to hit Pechanga tonight, so will ask some of the dealers I know.

I agree with smartone on this one. I don't know what it is about those new video poker machines they have put in at Harrah's and Harvey's, but I can't even hit a quad on those machines!!! They play a lot more like slots in my view. I've had some very good luck on the vp machines at MontBleu in their high limit area. And, I always see people spinning the wheel on the $5 WOF at MontBleu.

I love the view from 19 Kitchen Table at Harvey's.....food is great, albeit quite expensive for this area, but I guess half the price of the food is so you can sit on the 19th floor of Harvey's and look out at Lake Tahoe. Exquisite view. Our dining experiences here have been mixed as we have had great service once, terrible service one and middle of the road last week. However, the view......no prettier place than Lake Tahoe.

The new Hard Rock is nice....still smells like new carpeting. Not a huge gaming floor though, so if you're looking for lots of variety in your slots then Harrah's or Harvey's is probably the place. We usually go to MontBleu as we get better free play and my DH loves the double top dollar machines there that are very hard to find in most places.

    Good luck and have fun.

There were 2 million dollar jackpots hit in one week at Pechanga. One was on a gold series machine and the other was on a walking dead slot. Was playing at the the front bar yesterday and a lady hit 38k on the quick hit machine. She had about $16 left. Sorry to hijack your Tahoe thread.
