Don Rickles

I am thinking of going to see Rickles in April at Orleans. I know he is getting up there in age and was wondering if it still a show worth seeing.

 

It's worth it..He might not be on as he used to be,, but in years you will look back and say, yeah, i saw a legend.

I saw him about 20 years... i nearly pulled rib muscles laughing so hard... same with redd foxx

 

The best. He's still got it, and he the last of a dying breed.

 

I think he would be well worth seeing. Old Vegas from a great era.

This is very high up on my list of things to do. Just haven't been able to make the dates work. He doesn't play that often. Let us know how it is if you go. I would!

 

I am so jealous, I would LOVE to see him!! I am sure he still has "it"! Like someone else said, you are seeing a legend!!

 

As an aspiring comic myself, Rickles is one of my idols. I made a special solo trip last August to see him (did the same for Dice in December, ie my profile pic). He is 88 and has had some health problems so he can't stand up very long, but the show was awesome. If you could still see Frank, no matter how good he still was, wouldn't you? Already have tickets. Planned this trip primarily around this show. Who knows how much longer he will be performing live (no ill will intended).

 

The Orleans is a great place to gamble too. Enjoy the legend.

 

Well, we have made the decision to go. I know I would regret it if I didn't. Next question, best site to purchase tickets?

 

Booked mine on the actual Orleans/Boyd Gaming site. 99.00 plus fee per seat. Going on Saturday night.

 

Saw him a year or so ago (not in Vegas). Very funny. He had to sit throughout (he had recently had surgery on his leg, not sure if he still has to sit). He's still very quick. He takes some "breaks" while they show clips of him with Johnny Carson and some other clips. My only regret is I didn't get picked on.

 

I've seen him 4 times now over 30 years. Last time at Orleans in 2010. Still amazingly funny and quick, but the show now has an orchestra and he does a lot of reminiscing about his mother, early years etc. That part wasn't really funny and I could do without him singing, but I would still recommend seeing him while he is still performing. He is a legend.

 

I saw him a couple yrs ago at Golden Nugget.
Glad I went -- to see a legend.
I tried to greet him backstage after the show --
GN employee was an @hole - "No !".....like I was from MARS for even asking ?
I asked "Is that YOUR personal policy or Don Rickles policy ?.....@hole !"....and walked out.

His show ?....some thoughts --
#1....I honestly feel....he would love to die on stage.....it would make him happy.
He wants his OBIT to read "he died on stage performing".
After he did some "soft shoe" dancing.......I thought he was gonna die !
#2....He picked on an Asian fellow......and did the stereo type "eye squint - buck teeth - heavy accent " routine.
It was a bit of a "Cringe Moment" -- as in no longer politically correct.
#3....I did alot of music gigs back in my day --
I wondered to myself - "How does he pay ALL these musicians ?....He must be gettin' paid nicely to afford all them."

 

I'd go. He's one of the last of that age group. I know I'd be deeply honored if he called me a whore.

 

He is hysterical. I literally wept when I saw him. He made fun of me..one of the highlights of my life. Don't miss it

Just checked and he's only there in late April and we will be there in the beginning of the month.....Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I saw him at the Dunes in Las Vegas.

I had no idea he was going to sing and dance, which is all I can remember, singing and dancing. Don Rickles, singing and dancing?

There was ZERO hockey puck in the show.

There is NO WAY I would ever see him again.

 

Lol. A review from when you saw him at the Dunes. How was the $1.99 buffet that morning?

 

I saw him at the Orleans a couple of years ago Had the ACG coupon to BOGO at the showroom, so I took a buddy who had never been to Vegas and who I knew would love Don Rickles. He didn't pick on people nearly as much as I thought he might, other than some of the ethnic barbs, but even those didn't seem all that mean-spirited. I mean, compared to Vinnie Favorito and others who have more-or-less descended from the Don Rickles style of humor, the "Mr. Warmth" nickname actually seemed to fit.

Some of the bits got a little old as the show went on, but I am truly glad I went to see the show and see a real show-business legend perform.
