    My Trip Report

So lately, I've visiting my local pretty often, with fairly ramped-up play (by my standards). About 4 weeks ago, I took a $2k hit over 2 nights, which is a lot for me. (Not money I couldn't afford to lose, but still unpleasant). And over the last 3 weeks, I've had a couple hit 'n runs to claw my way back. 2 weeks ago, I got $750 back in less than a full shoe in about 20 minutes. And Friday night, I got $900 back in about an hour (only to lose about 1/2 of that on the craps table--but fortunately, I had the self-discipline to stop).

Last night was the most epic and crazy session of blackjack I've ever played in my life. I get there at about 8:30 and had to wait around for a spot as there was only 1 table with a shoe game open. (As I've noted previously, they take away so much on the double deck or single deck game that the HE is about the same on each game and I just don't have as much fun not being able to DA2 or DAS).

So anyway, a spot opens and I stay pretty steady for about 2 hours, betting $50/hand with incremental increases on each win... and $20 on the Royal Match, which was also staying about even. In fact, I finally hit the Royal. I tell the dealer to not start the deal unless I have money on the match or I give him the ok. 2 hands later, I'm distracted with the cocktail waitress (I think...but honestly, this dealer is very good and efficient and I think he just started the deal)... and I miss putting out the bet... and of course, I hit it again. It's absolutely my fault and only my responsibility, but I'm PISSED.

Then 2 or 3 bad shoes come along. I lose the $1200 I had brought with me and another $500 I pulled from the ATM. I'm not exactly on tilt, but I'm annoyed, so I do something I NEVER, EVER do and pull $2000 from a credit card. Go back and start playing $100/hand. Stay pretty steady and we're nearing the end of the night. I'm winning more than losing and getting back about $1000 of my $1700 loss with increasing bets (at this point, I'm occasionally at $500, which is the table limit). Then some pit guy comes along--one that just showed up because he wasn't 1 of the 2 or 3 that had been there all night--and he says he's going to give us (me, really--because the 2 other guys are betting decently, but not really at the limit) a higher limit and puts it at $1000. At this point, things are a little fuzzy--I can't really remember a lot of the hands, but I'm betting $1000 on 2 spots with $200 on the match. Suddenly, I have a huge row of $2000 stacks of black!

Side note: When I was there Friday, I noticed there weren't any purples (they're actually lavender, but anyway). I found it curious, but never really had the chance to ask. Last night, the guy next to mentioned there was a grab and dash--some dude grabbed a row of purples and ran out the door. (Even in the high limit area on these tables, they usually only carry about 1/2 a row of purples, so probably about $15-20k ish). So the casino pulled all the purples (it's the largest denomination they have in the entire casino).

From the point when the table started getting hot, it was only me and 2 other guys--both of whom had been there as long as I had. We're all betting 2 spots. Once the limit was raised, I'm betting limit, the guy to my right is betting about $200-300 and the guy to my left is betting $500-600 (I think). At the end of the night, they make a call for 5 more hands (table games in tribal casinos close at 4am in Wisconsin... and we didn't lose the hour). On the 2nd to last hand, the table is out of chips. The dealer broke, so all 6 hands are winners and there's about $3600 out there...lol. So we had to wait for like 20 mins before they bring a fill.

All said and done, I ended up about $14k.... and that's after the $2000 (AT LEAST) that I remember tipping. (In hindsight, this was very poor decision-making). I get escorted to the cage, and I see the craps dealers closing up. I swear I get a "thank you" from a couple of them. I might've been drunk, dreaming or delusional but it seemed like word had spread. (And it had, because by the end, there was a guy in shirt and tie, a well-dressed woman (so both are management/execs), another pit person and the 2 original pit bosses at our table). I get an escort to my car and stuff the cash in the safe as soon as I get home. I'll be interested to see 1) how well-rated I was getting at the end and 2) how many points I racked up last night, because I put in a good 7 hours.

Now I just need to stay as disciplined as I can until my Vegas trip!

Great night! Way to rack it up! In retrospect, tipping more is always better than not tipping...too many times I see guys walk away 3x or 4x their buy-in without sharing even a red with the dealer. Although I prefer to tip as I win (normally playing pink chips for the crew on the Spanish 21 table), I do understand players who wait until the end to tip. But the point is they tip to reward good dealers and good fortune. Congrats again! Karma is very real!

Oh, I had been tipping throughout. I'd tipped a $1000 or something when it was pretty hot and $900 at the end. Plus there's something in there that Captain made me forget.

    Nice run!

Sorta odd they shut all the table games down...the casino is 24 hours on the weekend right?

The casino itself is 24/7 year round (except portions of holidays), but the compact with the state only allows the table games to be open from 10 am (I think)-4 am.

Laws...lol At least they made you quit on a win!

Missouri casinos are required to close at least once a week. For most STL casinos, this is Wed. from 6am to 7am. Some smaller MO casinos close every weekday by choice.

That's pretty awesome. My friend was escorted out of Barona in San Diego because they thought he was too hot after winning $3500 with an average bet of $150ish.

I really like these stories. I know the comeback is in all of us, glad you took the risk. Hoping I have the balls to do it in Vegas in less than 2 weeks. Congrats.

Is it called a "Comeback" if you win, and on "Tilt" if you lose?

Nice win! So you basically played two hands the whole time while increasing bets with your wins and ran hot? Awesome stuff.

That's ridiculous. I mean, $3500 isn't really THAT much. Oneida doesn't really sweat people. I mean, by the end, there were a lot of people around, but I don't count and I was in no condition to do so anyway.

I didn't start playing 2 spots until the very end (I think). But yeah, really I only increased my bets with my wins and near the end, I ramped way up. I don't know how long I was betting $1000/hand, but it couldn't have been long. I think they increased the table limit from $500 to $1000 in the hopes I would lose a lot of it back. I honestly wasn't hammered, just a few in me but strangely, much of the last hour is a blur. Very weird.

I did go back last night and lost $1200 back in about 45 minutes. I plan to keep it pretty easy going forward. I hope.

Great win, but please save two grand someplace where you can grab it next time instead of using the card!
