I am planning an end-of-April trip for five nights in Vegas and I have a cool offer from MLife. All offers below are within the same offer in my account, though, they have a different claim code for each hotel. FWIW, my current status is Pearl.

    - Excalibur, Luxor - 4 nights comp
    - NYNY, MC - 3 nights comp
    - Mirage, MB, MGM, Delano - 2 nights comp
    - Bellagio, Aria - 1 night comp with 2 night stay

Given that I want to stay a total of 5 nights, I would ideally want NYNY 3 nights + Delano 2 nights. However, because of the so-called 72-hr rule; for the sake of my bookings/offers getting cancelled; I booked Luxor Tower Room for four nights. I also wanted to spend as little as possible, out of pocket. Among MGM hotels, I stayed at Aria, Mirage and Excalibur only. All the rest are new to me.

    My questions are:

    - What do you all think about this selection? Have I picked the best scenario out of this offer?
    - Should I have tried NYNY + Delano, or MC + MGM or something like that? How strict are they about the 72-hr rule?
    - Is it easy to get resort fee comp'ed at Luxor?
    - Pyramid rooms at Luxor seem very cool and they might get demolished sometime in the near future (given the current de-theming hype in Vegas). However, based on many reviews, I picked tower room over pyramid room. Was that wrong? Should I go with the iconic choice rather than the rational choice?

For Luxor, I would've chose the Pyramid just "because". However, since you're staying 4 nights, that might not be a good idea.

    Plus:
It's a room in the Pyramid
You're closer to the casino floor

    Minus
The rooms are older and in need of refurbishment
It's farther away from the pool

I've hear that they are pretty strict about the 72 hour rule, so if you wanted low out of pocket, Luxor 4 nights and perhaps Excalibur for one night would have been OK, you could walk from one hotel to the other. (I guess you could do that with NYNY but it's a bit of a longer walk.

Unless you have a host, you most likely cannot get around the 72 hour rule.

How much are rooms for the other 2-3 nights for the NYNY/MC/Mirage/MB/MGM rooms? Sometimes you can get your non-comped nights pretty cheap with basic casino rates.

If $$$ are all that matters, Luxor would work fine...unless rooms are very cheap at NYNY/MC for the other 2 nights you are staying.

Book the 5th night at Luxor using your Tier Discount (unless you can find an public offer code that will get it cheaper). I don;t know what the diff in price for one night Luxor vs Excalibur would be but it's probably not enough to justify moving.

Book the 4 nights at Luxor and then the 5th night with a MyVegas comp bonus room for 18k LPs, and then have them link the reservations. The last week of April is available on the calendar. Of course you'll have to call to confirm the night you want is available.

Devils advocate here - about 3 years ago we did 2 free nights at mirage and 1 night at Aria back to back MLife offers and it wasn't a problem. I wasn't aware of the 72 hr rule then.

If you play MyVegas on facebook you can combine those free nights with MLife offers back to back - no rule on those as of now!

How picky are you about your room? If you stayed at Excalibur and that was fine for you(regular or widescreen room), then Luxor will not be all that different. It is obviously not on the same level as Mirage and Aria, but I assume you know that.

I would have booked luxor(high floor pyramid is my preferred) and then 1 extra night there that I pay for. Just make sure to have that 5th night be the cheapest. You don't want to get Tues-Fri comped and pay for Saturday for example.

You could try booking 2 of the other options, but I didn't have success the last 2 times I attempted. I also don't care enough about the room for it to matter.

No clue on resort fee comping. I generally just use express comps to pay for this or any other charges on my room.

I did not like the pyramid room last time I stayed. Since they added the second level the view from the hall just isn't the same. The tower rooms seem much nicer. And the windows in the pyramid rooms are odd. Not for everyone. I have stayed recently at Mandalay a Bay and Mirage and I just called their vip reservations made the reservation and got a good discount on paid nights. Both times the most expensive nights were comped and I did not pay resort fees on the comped nights.

Stayed in a Luxor tower room last fall. Liked it better than the Luxor pyramid room that i stayed in several years ago. Liked it slightly less than the Excalibur "contemporary room" that i stayed in last year. All in all i think you made a good choice.

Thanks all for the advice. My fifth night will be a very short night, as I have a 7 AM flight out. So, I might skip the room altogether and stay out basically all night :) The fifth paid night at Luxor and Excalibur showed up around $60-$100, which I think is much higher than what I can get even on Expedia. And for that final night, I can even get The Linq for $18 + RF, if I desperately need a place to crash, while the luggage sits at Luxor reception.

For the first four nights, I have it as Fri-Sat-Sun-Mon. So, it is actually a good deal, considering the comp includes the weekend. Didn't know though you could get better deals by calling. I always made my reservations online by selecting the offer I like.

I think I will stick with the tower room at Luxor, and will try to ride the inclinator once just for the heck of it. This will hopefully make 50% of the pyramid experience and I am not that much interested in bumping my head to the window :))
