Our March 1 thru March 6 Harrah's vacation died before it started when Spirit canceled the Philadelphia flight. I was all packed up with nowhere to go.
Between yesterday and today I canceled everything and got full refunds, except for the service fees on the Carrot Top tickets. :)
Rose and I decided to reschedule, flying SWA from Baltimore and staying downtown at the Four Queens. A Big savings price wise, especially considering the Spirit baggage charges increases.$50/bag/one way. Now I gotta wait another 6 weeks to get to Vegas...I feel like I keep seeing my Shadow!!!
    Some questions...
Are there any shuttle busses from any downtown casinos to other casinos?
Are there any 'Dive' Bars in the Fremont area/walking distance?
Do the different casinos on Fremont Street each have their own players clubs?

    Q. - Are there any shuttle busses from any downtown casinos to other casinos?

    A. - If you talking about free, I don't know, but the Deuce is $8.00 for 24 hours and stops at the Stratosphere and goes up and down the strip.

    http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/las-vegas-deuce.php

    Q. - Are there any 'Dive' Bars in the Fremont area/walking distance?

    A. - Sorry, I don't drink alcohol, but there are plenty of others who do and can advise.

    Q. - Do the different casinos on Fremont Street each have their own players clubs?

    El Cortez
    the D
    Four Queens
    Binion's
    Golden Nugget
    Golden Gate
    Plaza

    Each have their own

Main Street Station, Fremont, and California are Boyd properties

I've caught this outside the Cal. Maybe it stops at Fremont too... you can also grab a free shuttle from Sam's Town to the strip, so you can kind of work your way down there. Dumps you at Harrah's.

Sorry to hear your trip got cancelled at the last minute. That's nasty!

The free shuttle to Sam's Town leaves first from the California and then stops at Fremont Casino. You should catch it at Fremont so you don't end up just sitting on the bus for 15 minutes. It takes about 25 minutes from Fremont to Sam's. You can also use the free shuttle to get to the strip. Once at Sam's, you can catch the shuttle to Harrah's. Technically, you should at least be a member of the Boyd slot club (Be Connected) but we've ridden it numerous times and never been asked. I've never seen more than 8 people on board so it's not usually busy. To give you an idea of how often it runs, there's a 2012 schedule here. Just check at the Fremont bell desk for the current schedule.

The Plaza and Las Vegas Club share the same player's card. Comps earned for rooms at the LV Club go towards rooms at the Plaza since LV Club has closed their hotel.

The same is true for Binion's and 4 Queen's. These 2 casinos each have their own separate player's card but since Binion's has closed down their hotel, any room comps earned at Binion's are redeemable for rooms at 4 Queen's.

Sorry, can't help with the dive bars. I'm not certain downtown has any. :wink2:

"shuttle pick-up and drop-off for Freemont on Casino Center blvd. outside the hotel lobby entrance by valet parking".
Begins at 8:15 am, and again at 9:30......every one hour 15 minutes there after until 8:45 pm.
There is another pick-up at the Cal on First street near valet parking every 15 minutes after Fremont pick-up.

Sorry Gambler....I posted last message before seeing yours....tried to delete it but couldn't figure out how.

Good thing you posted maineguy, I had the order wrong. I can't believe I didn't catch it when I wrote it since "I've taken the shuttle numerous times". We always catch it at the Cal to avoid sitting for 15 minutes. On the return we get off at Fremont.

The flight was scheduled to leave at 7:30pm. I happened to check the flight status on line around 10;30am and got a canceled notice. Spirit called me with a computer voice message around 2pm stating flight was canceled.
Lucky for me , I can do BWI or PHL, both are close to the same travel times. SWA is a much better deal than Spirit, flying from Baltimore. Hell, if I lived in Philly, I'd drive to Baltimore to NOT fly Spirit.
Thanks all for the information. :peace:
I am a low roller and probably won't get to Vegas on a return trip anytime soon after this one; that said, I am grateful for the help and information I've gotten from everyone here. You're all Good People.: peace::nworthy:

Lot's of interesting bars especially if you keep walking east once you hit the end of the FSE. Wouldn't say any are cheap or really divey but lots have happy hour specials and decent prices at other times of the day.

here's a site with good listing of the bars downtown:

    http://www.fremontstreetbars.com/

Its so much easier to get around and find reasonable prices that many low rollers end up Downtown converts.

A neat little bar downtown is called Atomic Liquors. Its been around for a looooong time, think I read that they used to climb on top of it back in the A-bomb days and watch the show. It shut down for a period of time but was reopened back up a year or two back, its just down Fremont East toward the old Western Casino. Neat place, you should check it out!

I used the site rural hipster provided, the Atomic bar was listed. I've made a list of where I'll try and hit. Even though this is our first vegas trip and it is said that you should do The Strip first...I am feeling my wife and I will like downtown better. Extended walking is an issue for us. We do plan on doing a night or 2 on The Strip.
I e-mailed the Four Queens to verify our room choice and a question or 2. A fridge in the room is $8/night...IMO a well spent add on. and water too.
I suspect that there will not be an abundance of empty electric receptacles in the room. Should I bring a power strip for 2 phones, 2 tablets and a battery charger (for the camera).

By "dive bar" do you mean quaint and inviting or dive into a bucket of Purell, because Fremont has both.
