This question was posted regarding Caesar properties a few days ago, but I am wondering regarding Boyd properties if it is smarter to do your playing at your home hotel, which for us is the Orleans. The reason I ask is we were comped rooms at the either the Orleans or the Gold Coast and the dates we wanted were unavailable at the Orleans so since we have never stayed at the GC we thought we would give it a try. Now, we are wondering where we will get the best bang for our buck in comps. Should we head over to the Orleans and focus there (which we have always enjoyed) or possibly gamble at both places and just accumulate points. Would hate to loose out on comps because of this though. We have also on occasion gone downtown to the Fremont and played but have never received any comps from there.

Quick Answer: No, Boyd plays doesn't transfer.
Only Downtown Boyd (MSS, Cal, Fremont) is considerd "One" Property.
Sams Town, Gold Coast, Orleans, SunCoast; are all "separate".
IE: you play HUGE at Orleans...you won't be treated like a HUGE player at any other property.
Play were you want to play, don't play for comps.

I have to agree with Tim, only downtown does consider your play at all three as one. MSS. Cal & Boyd.

Careful... what I understand is that for offers it is the play you do at your home property that counts. For comps that a host might look at giving you (or comping on the back end) they look at all three downtown properties as one.

Which one is more generous? I can't figure that one out. Historically I believe I've played less at Orleans but I get slightly better marketing offers from them than Gold Coast. But I don't know if it's just me. I would presume that with fewer rooms, Gold Coast doesn't need to comp as much to fill up and doesn't have the inventory to be as generous.

    This is correct.

I played for a decent amount of coin in at Sam's Town during a 5 hour side trip during one of my Cal comp stays, and while it didn't count toward my stay at The California, I did start receiving the 5 night, comp food offers from Sam's Town, in addition to my California (Home Downtown Casino) and Orleans and Gold Coast offers. Unlike CET, you don't get access to the broad range of properties unless you actually put in the play at the specific location.

My experience is that Gold Coast is the most generous with offers to low rollers.

I've put the same play in downtown and at Gold Coast. GC comes back with comped nights and food credits, downtown is pretty much zip.

I continually get offers from Sam's Town for my low-rolling budget. Generally 2-3 nights with some food and/or free play. These are good on the weekends as well. I also play as much, if not more, at Fremont/Cal/MSS and at best get a 20% off rack rate offer from them. I have called in the past asking if my Sam's comps can be honored at MSS and I was told what others above have mentioned about them being separated (They even have different reservation numbers for the downtown/non-downtown properties.

I have received one three night offer from Fremont. It timed well with a Vegas trip. The good thing about the downtown properties not being linked to the off-strip properties is that you can back-to-back the comp offers - we stayed two nights at Sam's (over the weekend) and then three nights at Fremont.

I just don't get why companies does this. Can anyone explain? It seems to me that one of the biggest advantages to linking multiple casinos under one owner is that the player has the option to move around but still keep their money "in-house". Why do casino owners squander this advantage?
