I had a 4Q mailer good for 3 nights in April and $80 in FP. I tried to book it for my brother a few weeks ago and was told those dates, April 17-19, were blacked out because of a slot tournament. I could only use the offer to book Monday, April 20. Fine, he still will take one free night. We all leave on Tuesday, the 21st. I've already got brother # 2 booked at Plaza. I get the US Mail yesterday and get another offer from 4Q and guess what it is... the slot tournament for April 17-19. Two rounds of play, continental breakfast on Sat & Sun and 3 free nights. Just waiting until the host office opens to see if I can combine this offer with the Monday offer I have already booked. My brother & SIL would be very happy if they can get 4 nights free. Hell, even if they have to pay for Monday, it's still a bargain for them. I'll play in the slot tournament and they can have the continental breakfast both days. Maybe I'm on the B mailing list if they don't get enough players for the tournament?

OK, so I'm (brother) booked at 4Q for 17-21 and they couldn't combine it with my other offer, but casino rate for that Monday is $26. So 3 nights free, the slot tournament and the continental breakfast on both weekend days. I've had the breakfast before and it's not bad. Mostly cold items, self serve, but a few things in warming trays. Who knows, since it's a slot tournament and nothing but mindless button punching, maybe I can get lucky and cash something out. I like the little hook that last place wins $777. One through ten split $7,000

And don't forget the special tournament gift of free slot play after completing 2 rounds. I'm guessing ten bucks but what the hell, it's free.
I played in a 4Q slot tournament in January and won $700 in it. The tournament was set up where you play 1 round each day (Saturday morning and Sunday morning). The rounds are short - only 5 minutes. The free gift for playing in both rounds was a bonsai tree. The free gift did not make it home. They also did some random drawings for $100 cash. RoyalFlusher has mentioned this in previous trip reports: Registration will be on Saturday morning (probably around 8am) at the Royal Pavilion. People will start lining up early (like 7:15am) outside the elevator that takes you to Royal Pavilion. The earlier you get to register, the earlier your rounds will be (and both rounds will be at the same time each day). If you don't feel like waiting in line for 45 minutes, but you still want to register as soon as possible after 8am, I recommend skipping the elevator ride and taking the stairs. The door to the stairs is just to the left of the North Tower elevators, if you are facing the elevators. It's just one flight up to the Royal Pavilion. Anyway, overall I liked how the slot tournament was set up. It happens early enough in the morning to not impede with the rest of your Vegas trip plans, and pushing the slot button for only 5 minutes prevents cramping :evillaugh
Helpful tip on the timing and of the entries and the stairs. Thanks Jimbo! I'm not really a 7 AM person in LV, but I also don't want a 4 PM slot time. By then I might not even be able to hit the button.
It's actually tougher than this; I've played a lot of "Last Place" tournaments...the key is, it has to be a NON ZERO score...So you have to literally spin and ONLY hit the minimum paying winner (Which is usually like 10 credits; maybe 5 if it has Cherries). If you can manage that, then you'll be in good shape.
Oh yeah a 7am slot time would be awful. If I am remembering correctly the first slot session was at 9am and the last one was at 10:50am (the sessions started every 10 minutes). They have about 15 or so slot machines up there in the Royal Pavilion tournament area.
So if you hit the lowest paying win first, you should immediately stop playing in this case right? It's not like you're forced to spin.
LOL! The free gift for the November VP tourney was a huge hard-bound coffee table book about Nevada's 150th birthday. I did bring it home and it's on my office bookshelf. LOL
Correct. Although, you have to be CAREFUL that no one ELSE pushes your button. (A neighbor, or a casino boothling walking around the tournament area.)
This tournament does not pay "last place". It pays $777 for 77th place. They normally have 250+ people competing in their tournaments. Very far from last place.
Went back and looked at the offer again and you are correct. $777 to 77th place. As indicated on the board, last place would be too easy to game.
They've made a couple of smart moves lately. They used to give out the promo gifts at registration. People who did poorly in round 1 of a tournament would often bail out of round 2 - and potentially not bother playing in the casino. Now they give the gift only if you finish round 2, and with this random payout, you have a chance for $$$ as long as you play both rounds. Fairly savvy, I would say.
I am surprised they were not giving you tournaments and the other FP and comps based on your play, which is much higher than mine at FQ (I'll play more on multi line games at the $0.25 or $1 level). Played the January tournament, had by far the worst slot score among my co-players and the previous round, and bailed on returning to the casino (only stayed one night). They still invited me back for the April tournament, and I still get $40-$80 in free play. Don't like the rooms much there so I usually stay elsewhere, but I like to put in a decent session or two even if I'm not staying there. Their slot club is generous and they have 9/6 JOB, so you can't ask for much more. Very savvy changes to their tournament. I do better at VP tournaments as I'm usually faster and better than many of the other contestants, but I've only cashed twice, both at CET tournaments ($100 and $500), among the 5-7 I have participated in. All of their sessions are mid-late morning. I rather wake up later and play in the early afternoon to not change/ruin the day.
