    My Trip Report

So, I arrived Friday night at midnight, Sixt upgraded me to a Mini Cooper Countryman that only had 4,000 miles on it. Drove non-stop to Reno. 4 hours.

I was also upgraded to a balcony room because there were no non-smoking Kings. I put my stuff in my room and went downstairs.

Set up my marker account and took out $1k. Nothing but misery for the first hour. Up and down, up and down, down and down. The first $1k was almost gone, and I hecked at the TR desk to find out about the promotions in effect.

The 1000 for 1000 in a day was still in effect. Now, I had ONLY planned on making 200 points to make sure that I was eligible for the 50% bonus, but somehow that plan went by the wayside.

So, I was needing Less than 100 points so I took out 2 $100 bills and put them into 2 IGT Auzure Dragon slots. After about $80 in on the right hand machine, this happened.

    Harrahs_Reno_022115_10000.jpg

$10k!!! I took $5k in a check. Since I have no other marker accounts in Reno, and CET had me on a strict $2k limit, I knew that this would be safe.

So, after sharing "lucky money" with an older (than me) Chinese lady, and tipping the slot host, I needed 45 more slot points to get my 1000. I made $100 on the left hand Auzure Dragon and went upstairs, where I sit now waiting for my heart to quit pounding so I can get some sleep.

Food was out of the question, and it's 3AM. I think I can sleep now.

So, the question is for tomorrow . . . stay or go home. I think I've decided against going for the platinum in a day.

At this point in time, I'm up about $9k.

    Great Hit!!
Play and have fun, just don't chase another big win. You already have it. Congrats.
I'm assuming thats the top payout for that machine?

Yes it is. I've abandoned my quest for "Platinum/Diamond in a day" I have gold privileges at V/P. That should be enough for this year.

Adrenaline pumping and I couldn't sleep. Cost me $600

Damn. Couldn't sleep. Went down and "spent" $600. Back in the room. I think I can sleep now.

Nice hit! Not sure how long it took you to travel beyond the four hour drive. If you are heading to Vegas soon I would probably head back home this weekend. You may not feel like leaving but once you are en route you will be smiling knowing you are almost 9k ahead. When that happens, who cares about being Platinum?! Congrats again!!!

Yes, thank you. This makes my April trip very possible and I may go home after I regain enough energy to drive. It was only a quick turnaround. I'm not ashamed to admit my weakness. Reno is a place that I can definitely leave early with no qualms. Sorry, CET.

hell, I've done a turn-around (3 hours up, and right back) just to pickup $500 bounce-back!
So, for $9000, I'd SURE AS HELL do it...but I have a feeling $9000 means a lot less to DaiLun than it does to me...

No, I'm done just the same. Made Platinum. Not going to give it all back trying to make Diamond.

I've decided to take a short nap and when I wake up, get the H**L out of Dodge. Not ashamed to admit when I'm weak and shouldn't be tempted. I was going to stop at Boomtown for dinner, but the real question is . . . WHY???

Dropped another $1300 or so but purchased 5 silver strikes from the pawnshops on Virginia Street.

@TIMSPEED, no, the money means just as much to me as it does to you, that's why I'm happy to come home $6K ahead.

Nice hit! F'em and get the hell out of there is what I say. Was just complaining about having to pay taxes on handpays after putting all the money back in. Good to avoid that!

Nice hit! Might as well pocket the money instead of giving it back. Just apply for a credit card if you want the status.

Final report. I checked out and went home early. Too scared . .

Returned home. I'm not ashamed to admit that I was a little "scared" about giving it all back. Other than gambling, Reno doesn't hold anything for me. I've been going there for almost 40 years.

I came straight back. I didn't even stop to eat the Lobster Buffet at Boomtown. Going out to eat now.

Came home $7k up, which will take care of some bills and funds the one day March trip to Las Vegas and possibly an April trip to Las Vegas.

That was a beautiful hit and just at the RIGHT time too!!! Thanks for the trip report.

You said that they upgraded you to a balcony room at Harrah's - which tower was that in? I have stayed there many, many times and didn't know they had a balcony room (except the presidential suites)

Good job on coming home with 7K!!!
