Pick two meals for Gordon Ramsay Steak

Currently have reservations this trip for Gordon Ramsay Steak @ Paris.
When trying a new place like this we each like to order something different then share our half with each other to get a variety.
Here is the request.

From your experience, pick the top 2 choices from these categories which you think this particular place does well.

I didn't include a link to the menu as I am hoping to get feedback from what you actually ordered and not what looks good on the menu.

 

I ate there last December and had the 5 course Tasting Menu :

Appetizer - Amuse Bouche - just ok


1st - Potato and Octopus Salad - wouldn't recommend


2nd - Butternut Squash Risotto - loved it


3rd - Roasted Beef Wellington - not my fave


Dessert - Sticky Toffee Pudding - yummy


I'd recommend the Risotto and the Toffee Pudding for dessert.

 

I've had dinner there several times.

I like the pork belly for an appi, bone on strip for for a main, sticky toffee pudding for dessert.
You didn't ask, but I like the spinach and mac and cheese for sides.

Not sure exactly how its listed on menu - but I got the rib cap and it was fantastic.

 

A bit surprised no one mentioned the beef wellington as some reviews seem to rave about it.
I guess not many people want to wait the 45 minutes it takes to be served.

 

I had it once and didn't care for it.

Another poster also mentioned it wasn't his favourite.

Scotch eggs were a specialty that night. I didn't try them, my husband said they were wonderful!

Sticky pudding, a must!!! Save room and don't get one to share.

A great cup of coffee, one of the best I've had.

The ginger mushrooms as a side were great.

Forget what the lobster appie was, defintely not worth >$25.

 

I had the beef wellington. see pic in my post above. it was just so so. my friend had the pork belly and loved it but I wasn't able to try it myself.

 

It was a chorizo stuffed lobster tail in some sort of sauce and I agree, I wouldn't order it again. The onion soup was good as was the tartare. I enjoyed the wellington and my rib eye was pretty good. My dad had the rib cap and it was excellent. The fried green beans are a good side and the sticky toffee pudding is a must.

i think the prevailing theme here is that you should definitely try the sticky toffee pudding for dessert.

 

The toffee dessert seems to be a big thing at Gorden Ramsey's Burgr place too yet we have not tried it.
Will definitely add it to the list this trip.

 

I was there about 3 weeks ago and had the 8oz Wagyu Rib cap. This was by far the best tasting steak that I have ever had. They were busy and it took a little while to get our order taken, but when it arrived it was well worth the wait. My wife had the sticky toffee pudding for dessert and couldn't finish it. She packed it up to go and brought it on the plane back to Alaska and ate it the next day. I guess you can say she liked it )

 

I had the 8 oz Rib Cap before - it is indeed fantastic.

If you don't get the wellington you are crazy!! So good. My Dad had the rib cap and loved it as well..

I had the toffee pudding pops a the BURGR place and it was nothing good at all, 1/4 inch sliver of toffee and the rest ice cream.. I assume the full size dish is much better!

 

Sticky toffee pudding!! Anyone mention it? Lol. I have dreams about it...the fried oysters are outstanding as an app...as for steak, I'll be the 3rd to recommend the rib cap steak, not just great, but best I've ever had(have had it twice there) been to so many steakhouses around the country and that cut tops them all...haven't been able to find it anywhere else restaurant or butcher....tenderness of a filet and taste of ribeye

 

Yes, the real Sticky Toffee Pudding at GRS is much better than the push pop at BurGR.

 

Someone in my family had it. It was fine, I just didn't love it. I'd just rather have the filet and some roasted potatoes. The puff pastry just didn't add anything for me.

Same as you I've heard it was their specialty and it gets constant raves in articles. I guess it just isn't my thing.


The other thing that gets rave reviews is the sticky toffee pudding. This one I can 100% agree with the reviews.

 

If you like beef wellington, then you should def get it. Me and my wife took my mom there and she loves beef wellington and said it was by far the best she has had. My wife got it too, and said it was good, but prob would have liked just the filet. If you order an app or salad then the 45 minutes you wait for the wellington will be negligible. They move at a deliberate pace at that place.
