I know other off-strip properties will give decent DIRECT MAIL offers for weekend nights for very little coin in (around $5000 on video poker)
What about South Point, or The M?
If I gave them $5000 coin-in, would this trigger some free weekend nights via DIRECT MAIL?

Anyone have any mail pieces from them, to give concrete evidence?

I would speculate that south point would. I used to get room offers from them with very little play years ago. I play more at the m now and don't get anything from them but I love the place so I go there anyway.

I'm interested in this as well. I had a thread regarding this subject last year, which brought out a lot of good posts, but no responses regarding coin in at South Point (or M Resort).

Below is a summary of responses by casino:

    Strip High End
    Aria ($1 3 Play 8/5 BP) $60K coin in
    Bellagio ($2 3 Play 9/6 JOB) $56K coin in

    Strip Mid Tier
Mandalay Bay ($2 3 Line 8/5 BP) $30K coin in
MGM ($1 3 Line 9/6 JOB - Any comp reductions for this machine?) $30K coin in (estimate)
    Tropicana ($1 3 Line 8/5 BP STP)

    Downtown
The D ($1 3-5 Line STP 8/5 BP) $3K coin in - Introductory Player Offer
California / Fremont / Main Street Station $7k coin in

    Off-strip
The Orleans ($0.25 5 Play MS 8/5 BP)
    Palms (3-5 Play $0.25 9/6 JOB) $20K - Limited rooms comps BOGOF
Rampart (10 Play $0.25 9/6 JOB) - $20K (Room, Free Play and Food Comps)
Red Rock (1 Play $1 9/6 JOB - Any comp reductions?) - $20K coin in
    Sam's Town (1 play progressive $0.25 & $1 9/6 JOB) ($7K room/food, $15k RFB)

I have never received a mailer from either The M or South Point...so you may be wasting your play with either of these..

Received lots of mailers from M but I have a local Hollywood casino that helped to generate the first ones. Once you get on their list and your play is moderate, they are fairly generous. Also used to match tiers but that was a while ago.

It can take up to 6 months to see your first South Point mailer. They send them out quarterly. Here is what our story is....we allow $600 day (sometimes a little more)(we both play off 1 card) for all slots/vp. We recycle that over and over basically due to the fact that we find their machines payout better than the strip. I usually get comped suite for 2nights....$50 freeplay, $50 resort credit....for the past year there has been an additional $25 fp and an extra dinner for 2 on my offer. I have qualified for the next offer down before which was 2 nights in a City View room, $40 fp, $40 resort credit. The next level under that ( MIL would get this one) 2 nights -no weekends in a deluxe room $25 fp and $25 resort credit.

I had an issue a few years ago and contacted a host...ever since I don't even wait for my mailer....I just email the host that helped me before and she comps me my suite. You DO HAVE TO SHOW YOUR MAILER AT CHECKIN to get your extras...resort credit, free meal voucher. Your free play is automatically on your card....so even if you are not staying there...if you have free play you can pop in for a visit and play that. Their points only show up for that day on your machine...so if you like to know how much you played through, check before leaving the casino for that day because tomorrow your pts will be 0. Because their free play is auto loaded on your card....if you stay end/beginning of the month you can get your freeplay on the last day of the month and again the next day on the first day of the month. Sweet deal if your dates happen to land then. Any other questions about SP I would be happy to answer....we spend 2/3 nights every trip there.

I played $6000 coin-in at South Point on my first visit there in August, and haven't gotten any mailers yet.

I am about a 5-15k/day slot player. This historically gets me room offers at Boyd downtown and off strip, el Cortez and M resort. M resort gives me approximately 2-3 times the free play and food allowance for that play that I get at the other properties. Considering the quality and value of the rooms I would say that M is very generous.

ADT on 5k video poker would be about $50-150, considering that I would value the M rooms at $150/day and South point at $75/day you might be hard pressed to get an offer from either.

Just as an added note it's been my impression that average room rates are steadily climbing in Vegas in the last year and the comps seem to be tightening up a bit. I wouldn't waste my gambling budget in an attempt to get teaser offers right now instead I would play where I stay to solidify my relationships with those casino resorts still sending offers my way.

Great responses. I have no trouble hitting $25K per day on 3-5 line $, or $8-$10K on multiline quarters. Will hit South Point once next trip for a concentrated play day, and hope for future offers. I really like their rooms and property, the only drawback is the distance from everything else. I stayed there last year on the free night offer via a NASCAR drawing they had.

Will shoot for the 3 line 9/6 JOB for quarters, and see if I get anything down the road.

I think an important question here is...how much slots and how much VP? And when it's VP, which game/paytable is it usually?

Wonder if that's even enough to get on the radar if you are always playing 99% VP...

At the .25 to $1 level most of the vp at South Point has the same pay schedule(99% range.) Exception is their high limit room, which has worse tables than the regular floor. Their free play offers are dependent on how well you do there. Rooms seem top be hit and miss from talking to many visitors.

I play mostly slots...I fall asleep at VP after an hour. The hubby plays mainly JOB 9/6. I honestly think mailers are based on ADT. Because they only send them out every 3 months it does take awhile to get your first one. Yeah their high limit "room" is a joke. Small selection of crappy machines.

    Absolutely they are.
Just trying to decide if smaller play will get better mailers from SP or M, vs. GoldCoast (Which is CLOSE to the strip; and fits all requirements we have)
    If only ST had UTH...

I played mostly 50-play 5 cent 9/6 JoB, with some 25 cent 9/6 DDB UX. It definitely doesn't seem to hit their radar. I did have an actual loss of about $400, too.

I had hoped to get room offers from South Point, as I really enjoyed the atmosphere, but I found a similar atmosphere at the Orleans with an easy backend room and food comp playing 99%+ Video Poker.

Mailers are not the way we get our free rooms at South Point. I have never received a mailer from them. M has to be a tougher comp any way you get them.

It's hard for me to say, since I had everything I asked for comped at both places. I played about 8-9k per day at the Orlean's (Mostly 8/5 BP STP and 8/5 BP Dream Card), but had a substantial loss. The host on duty didn't hesitate to comp my room, resort fees, and give me a $125 meal comp to Canal Street. The $125 was the figure he suggested, if that matters.

At the Gold Coast, I averaged about 11k per day (mostly 9/6 DDB STP), and got my room comped, 2 tickets to the VIP Super Bowl Party (which was awesome, BTW), and about $250 in backend food comps.

My gut feeling is I get better comps at Gold Coast, but I do have a history there, and a relationship with a host. I've only stayed at the Orlean's for those 2 nights a couple of weeks ago, so I'm not sure what it will lead to for offers.

    Scot: thanks for the tip...
I'm also torn between GC and Orleans...I also think GC would comp better..simply because they're a "smaller" property...
Do you know if Orleans has UTH in their pit?
    EDIT: Yes they do!
Well, I like the vibe at Orleans better...so we'll see what they give me...

The Orleans definitey has a great vibe, and a lot more options for dining and entertainment. I wish my host at the Gold Coast could count play at the Orleans. The shuttle between the 2 is virtually useless, since splitting play between the 2 doesn't get you anywhere comp-wise.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try calling to see if I can get a comp for one or two weeknights.
