Any downtown casinos spread tournaments during the WSOP last year?

Seems to me that the GN ran big tournaments concurrent to the WSOP last year. Anyone remember the particulars?

This year's schedule has not been announced yet.

 

Binions has a series as well during WSOP. Same price range as Nugget.

GN has published their summer series details on their Twitter feed, I think. I saw it mentioned elsewhere but I can't find a link to it. A lot of casinos will run a tournament series while the WSOP is on. They will all start publishing fairly soon, now that the WSOP details have been announced.

 

I found the schedules from last year for both Binions and GN on google search. Probably play those after the pros laugh me out of the Rio!

FYI -- Binion's tourneys in this series are really pretty decent. Fair structures....and they have a great place to play the tourney in.

 

I've played in both Binion's and Golden Nugget's big series. I prefer the Nugget based on the atmosphere. It is in a large ballroom and feels a little more like the WSOP atmosphere. Binions has a tournament area and last year used a meeting space in what felt like an abandoned part of the hotel. Kind of strange. The structures are pretty similar but there tend to be more people at the Nugget. The fields in both of these series have gotten smaller over the past several years.

The Nugget schedule has been announced and you can forecast the Binion's schedule. What they have been doing is running the same game type as the WSOP event of the day at 10% of the buy in. Not sure if that will extend all the way to the collossus. If they have a good structure multi at $60 buy in the field will most likely be quite large.

 

Ah, but a little history: yes, this area, like most of Binion's these days, has an abandoned feel, but this was Benny's Bullpen, where the heaviest WSOP action once took place. Its was in here in which you saw Moneymaker, Raymer and Hachem win the main event on ESPN, believe it or not.
