I would like anyones opinion on these questions. Going to be staying at Aria. Have not been to Vegas since my son was born 9 years ago. Had a host at Golden Nugget where I was RFB 9 years ago. I used to visit Vegas once or twice a year. My average bet is $200-$250 and play 6-8 hours a day. Mostly play craps at that level with some blackjack. Is it worth me talking to a host before I go? Without me being rated in Vegas for a while I am assuming the host will not even offer me casino rate at Aria. Also, at my average bet and hours of play what do you experienced players think I would get comped?

Can't wait to roll the bones!

    Thanks Trutt

I'd say you are good for getting your room comped on the backend if you play at that level during your stay. You should expect future comp room offers with some resort credit.

Your theo will be about 600-700, you can expect about 200 in comps (per day).

Will you wire FM or setup a CL? How much?

If at least 10k it's worth contacting a host beforehand.

They'll usually do a room comp upfront and then f&b on the back end.

I plan to set up a CL for $10k. I am assuming after I set that up I should contact a host.

No contact the host first. Let him know you're going to set it up and he'll send you the app and get it approved. And setup your room comp upfront as well.

With my theo being 600-700 and approximate 200 in comps a day. If I get my room comped up front, does that leave me $200 for F&B. Or if I stay 3 days does that 200 a day basically just cover the room?

I don't mean to intrude on your post, but since shifter is answering I'm just going to throw this out there. I like the Aria and will continue to stay and play there regardless of the answer, but I'm a $100 average bettor at the craps table about 4 hours a day. Last stay I was at 13.5 hours for 3 days. I don't think that is host worthy at Aria, but should I be getting some back end comps?

Yes you should definitely get something off the backend. If you're not checking at the end of the trip you're leaving money on the table.

That's what I thought. My last trip I really stepped up my play, life situation has changed a bit and now I can play more freely. That's about my limit for right now though. Thanks for all your insight on the board.

Pretty much. But you never know what they might do.

The things that you learn on this board. I had a Asian mass marketing associate host (thought it was pit boss) at Palazzo approach me after leaving the BJ tables and gave me a card after leaving with my winnings, but then proceeded to give it all back the next day. He said to contact him for a free meal or tickets, but I never called. I did notice they took my resort fees off my comped room every trip, but didn't bother seeing what else I could get.

Keep in mind that Aria and Bellagio are at the top of the MGM food chain. Comps will be considerably tighter there vs what you saw at the Golden Nugget.

    Have you considered other properties?

It never hurts to ask. I will always visit the host office before I leave, even if I know my play was not necessarily "comp worthy".

For example, I was checking out of the Bellagio after a two day trip. The day before I was checking out, I had gotten friendly with a casino host. No, not that kind of 'friendly'. Anyway, she happened to be working the day I was checking out. I was promptly told that my play was shit, and nothing on the back end could be comped based on my play. Which was fair because I had concentrated most of play at Caesars on that trip...don't ask me why. Nonetheless, she took care of all of my room charges, which were not substantial, and a limo to the airport. I have a feeling that my past play may have been a factor, together with my charming and witty personality ;)

You will get a backend comp of room plus food more than likely at those numbers and that time. In their eyes, your basicly a 500/4 hr player which shoukd get you rfb at araia

So, curious about getting back-end comps. To get these, do you go to the host office before checking out and talk to whomever is on duty?

When I stay at the MGM, the "on duty host" is simply a phone that connects to MLife VIP services, and they always say that there's nothing they can do -- that they don't have the power to back-end comp anything. At the Aria they usually have someone on duty, though. Should I just stop in and say "What can you do for me?"

If they said they don't have the power to authorize back-end comps then it's probably the wrong folks you contacted. There is usually a host on duty at most casinos if not all. When you go ask for a host on duty, can ask something along the lines "hello, i'd like to talk to a host to see if my play this trip/session warrants any back-end comps".

The key is asking a host to take care of your room charges out of your primary comps. Otherwise, you can just use your express comps. And the front desk can apply those. You don't need a host to do that

you're going to the wrong place.

the host office at MGM is to the left of the main cage.

Hmm, Shifter -- that's the place I'm talking about. Last I was there (last summer) there was a sign for the host office to the left of the cage, with a phone on a desk. The sign said something to the effect of "use phone to contact host on duty" and it connected direction to MLife VIP services, not a real "host".
