So with blackjack games getting harder to find (i don't count 6:5 as blackjack) I am looking to add another game to try. I love playing Craps, don't get me wrong, but I just want to try another game. I tried some roulette last time I was in vegas on a lark, and actually made a nice profit, but that 5% house edge is a bit hard to take ! I might play it some more, but I am wondering if anyone has any great suggestions for other games to try?

    Cheers!

maybe some war or baccarat. There are some other table games but those are the only ones I can think of that the house edge is not ridiculous.

Pai Gow poker. House edge is about 5x worse than blackjack, but the game moves at about 1/3 of the speed.

Let It Ride is pretty fun but the house edge is bad, but i like the option of pulling some of my money off the table if I don't have a winner. Another game that is starting to take off is High Card Flush! Not sure of the house edge but I had a blast playing it last time in Vegas and saw a 6 card straight flush (too bad it was in the dealers hand).

Three-Card-Poker or Crazy Four Poker. Look at www.wizardofodds.com for house edges. There are people who like Texas Hold 'em Bonus or Ultimate Texas Hold 'em. Forgot the differences between the two, but the website I mentioned has the rules and correct strategy also.

I played High Card Flush in Tunica last year, it was a fun game for sure and I am not big into carnival games. I know I only played for about 20 minutes but broke even. Had I not been chicken I could have made money on it but would not up my bet a few of the times.

Free bet Blackjack typically pays 3:2 but not sure if you'd be interested since it looks like you want to move on. Good bj can still be found downtown but for the strip give craps another shot. 3 Card Poker can be fun but the variance is kind of a killer so bring plenty of bankroll to survive between good hands. Super easy basic strategy, ie. Make the play bet with Q,6,4 or higher.

    UTH...hands-down.
This game - when played with proper 'basic strategy' - has a low house edge.
Now - be forewarned - the variance is truly wild!
At a $5 table, you'd better have about $300 in order to ride out some of the negative swings.
    But on those positive swings?
    Those can be really fun!

I seem to always do well, or lose very little when I play.
Perhaps that's another reason I like it so much.

Actually some pretty good games out there.
Maybe try a new game in the morning, one in the afternoon and one in the evening.

    I didn't like the 3 card poker.
Enjoyed the Let it Ride and Texas Hold-em.

Maybe single 0 roulette? Half the house edge, but maybe also higher minimum wagers....not sure. I love High Card Flush; I've been incredibly lucky on the straight flush side bet. I like UTH also, but as TopCard said above, the variance can be a bear. I've never played much VP, but that is a game you can certainly sink your teeth into and along the way earn some decent comps. Let it Ride is fun, and can be lucrative, but for me it's pretty much been a slow death. Have fun on your trip and hope you find a new game to have some fun with.

Just play casino war, nothing to learn lol. I say that jokingly, it's a bad game and I'm not sure where the enjoyment is in that game.

Let It Ride. $5 most places. Don't play the bonuses (you might be the only one that doesn't). Accept the fact that you might give up a $150/$200 3OAK or straight flush by not playing the three-card bonus, but even in the medium run it's the smart play.

It can be a "slow death," indeed, but usually you'll win something once in awhile, and you still have the possibility of a big win. With a full table it moves slowly and can be very social.

Seconded. Particularly in Vegas where the drinks are free.

Thanks for all the responses! I am thinking that Pai Gow might be a good thing to learn. I tried it once before and I loved that the people at the table were so friendly and helpful when I had no idea what i was doing !
But I will review the strategy for a couple others because you never know what you will find lol :)

Like you I started out playing Blackjack. As I became more of a mature gambler, I started looking for more table games. I play Craps which I still love, but I got turned on to 3Card Poker about 10 years ago. All and all, now I spend more time at the 3 Card table than any other table game. It's fun and easy to play especially when you hit a 3OAK or a straight flush. Lots of places have progressive add on games that are tied to it now. I won over $1K on one had a few years back on a AKQ straight flush at Hard Rock w/ a $5 per circle bet.

I've done 3 card and Let It ride...prefer the card.

If you want better odds on that don't play the bonus. In 3 Card I never play pairs plus and probably have made out better than even over the course of that game.

You'll catch some flack for not playing it... and you might 'miss out' on a good $200 ever so so so (almost never) often. But I look at it this way. I'd play craps at Casino Royale but I'd never put down 100x's odds. So if the point hit...yah I could have "lost out" on winning more. And with the odds in craps its actually a better bet.

But I slow grind 3 card. Like it, enjoy the drinks and like playing it with my bro. Because there isn't tons of strategy it can be a real social game.

I don't know why people call it a carnival game?

Not sure of the origin of the term...I know that 'Vegas Buddy' started using it in the 90s when referring to LIR, Pai Gow, Carribean Stud, 3-card & the 'big-6 wheel'. They all tend to be in the same pit areas together, along with War, crazy-4 poker, UTH, 4-card poker, Mississippi Stud, etc... the "carnival pit", as we call it.

Seems like if it's NOT craps, blackjack, bacc or roulette, it typically gets labeled as a 'carnival game'... I think the name comes from the high house edge.

I've played it once, it was last july. I played four hands, $25 bucks each. My cards? 2,2,8,2. I didn't win any of them. That was it for me, probably won't ever play again. Least fun I've had gambling ever and I've had some bad beats

I had to deal that game for part of my shift the last two days. Those players are worse than BJ players, discussing how there is a huge strategy and getting mad if people jump in and out, taking it very seriously while playing $5 a hand. They get mad if we call bets before they get a chance to bet (mind you they have plenty of time) and start demanding stuff, I just looked in my tip box, seen how empty it was (that game is worse than the Big6 wheel at generating tips, usually never any) and think "sure, I will bend over for ya"
