My buddy said he saw on Travel Channel that there was only one that took in all of Las Vegas's restaurant garbage.

    I said hogwash!

The sheer volume of garbage would be mind numbing.

    So how many are there?

The bet concerns only the garbage taken in from The Strip hotels.

I was hoping for more from this thread. I thought it was going to be about a hog farm as in something like a place that has a lot of big ugly women haha. Would've been much more entertaining. :evillaugh

Since I seem to be surrounded by them and their stench, I haven't actually seeked any out in Vegas. I am quite sure they have VP in the barn though.

Lucky hogs. Tender morsels of crab slowly simmered in a rich succulent broth of left-over prime rib, bacon, eggs, lettuce, chicken drumstick bones, mashed potatoes and rice. Ingredients to vary from time to time and day by day. Lucky hogs, eat free all day and then die to be what they eat.

But I digress. I agree Breeze. There's got to be more than one hog farm. Maybe your friend means that all the farms are under one co-op. Lots of farms do that to survive the economy.

It's R.C. Farms. They gather the scraps from MGM and the hogs have brunch. Travel Channel with Andrew Zimmern.
I'd post a link but for some reason is goes to another video on the same show.

A few years ago on TV I saw how the leftovers from the buffets go to a hog farm near Las Vegas. Ever since when I'm at a Vegas breakfast buffet I wonder how many times the piece of bacon I pick up has been a pig.

Everytime. Those pieces of bacon were all pigs. And they're delicious.

    Yes, hogwash, literally.

I've seen a write-up on this in one of the regional Ag journals. (Don't ask why I was reading that!) :)

The place is, IIRC, out by Nellis and they buy surplus human food from many of the major resorts.

It's amazing to think how these animals survive the Vegas summer heat.

RC Farms is correct and it is located in N Las Vegas. I drove by it a few times and the stench can be amazing. The problem is they were in the middle of nowhere when they started and are now surrounded by residential neighbors. Of course the neighbors complain about the odor, but the farm was there first.
