In just a few days I will be heading out to my favorite vacation destination. I have decided to compile together a list of notes, ideas, and other miscellaneous items before my trip. I'm also looking for some input too as well. This will be my first solo trip so i'm very excited about being on my time and on my own agenda, not someone elses for a change. I will be doing a trip report but I'm debating as to a live one or a post trip report, what do you all think? So let's begin with the agenda for the trip in general.

    Agenda

    February 9th:

This is my travel day and for the most part will be boring. Will be flying United from Chicago to LAS, nothing too exciting, will be anxious to make to arrive in Vegas and the 4 hour flight will be boring. I am trying to decide as to what Vegas movie I will put on my iPad to watch on the flight. Any suggestions? Once I arrive in town I will probably cab it to Caesars and check in. The first night I'm usually tired so I don't do too much other than take in the excitement of Vegas. I'll probably be hanging around Caesars most of the night.

    February 10:

The first full day of the trip is exciting too me. I'm thinking about exploring the northern part of the strip this day hitting up the casinos along the way. My goal for the trip is to hit every strip casino at least once but I'll play it by ear. I'm looking at doing a buffet for dinner this night. Deciding between Wynn or Bacchanal. I love them both so I'll decide which one based off where I'm at when I get hungry. After dinner though I will be hanging out at Flamingo meeting up with an old college buddy who is in town also.

    February 11:

Will wake up hungover and switching hotels this day. Moving from Caesars to my homebase of Aria. Will be checking out midstrip today since on my last trip I neglected it and its been over a year since I've been to casinos such as Harrah's, Bally's, PHO, Linq. I want to see how the Linq project looks and everything in general that has changed in this area of the strip.

    February 12-13

I'm lumping these days together because I'll be all over south strip these 2 days exploring and gambling. I really don't have too much planned at this point in the trip and will be playing everything by ear.

    February 14:
    Going back home

Ok, so that is the general trip agenda. I tried to keep it as open and vague as possible because its my vacation and I'll do ultimately what feels the best to do at the time. For my gambling I mostly play blackjack but I do play some slots every now and then. I'm no good at VP and never had any luck or skill at it.

if there was one overall goal of the trip for me other than a) winning $ and b) getting away from work, it would be seeing things I normally don't see or do things I normally don't do when I'm with my buddies. That is where all you come in at. We all are the experts on Vegas and are always finding new things. I'm looking for ideas on what I should add that I should check out that is new to the strip. I may add a day downtown too as I really want to go back to MSS and Plaza.

I can't wait to hear your thoughts.

I like downtown so much that I would have to do a day there. Love the low limits, coupon runs and how close all of the casinos are. Want to hit Banger Brewery and the MSS sports bar on the next trip. Also love playing vp at Chicago Brewing Company. Haven't spent as much time on the strip the last couple of trips so I will try to hit all of them too.

The post-trip TR vs. Live is quite a matter of taste, and style. If you will be traveling with a computer (I really don't recommend doing extensive posting via a mobile device) and are ready to commit a significant amount of your time in LV to posting, then live is a rewarding and fun way to do things (also, one needs to be sure of reliable Internet connectivity for this, I do it via a hotspot-device rather than relying on hotel Internet). Live reporting gives you the opportunity to tell each story as it happens, without the loss of detail that naturally occurs (particularly if you drink) before the trip is through and you're back safe in your living room. It does take effort (lugging equipment) and time, though - and as I have been guilty of several times before, one can start out with a live TR and end up barely posting before the return, which does tend to disappoint readers a bit.

Ocean's Eleven (1960, the original). That movie always puts me in the mood to go do Vegas... Old-school. (Don't blow up any power line towers though... They take that kind of thing even more seriously today)

The main bar at MSS is the a VP-playing beer lover's heaven on earth. 9/6 JoB on the machine, in-house brews on tap. :)
