The airlines are saving a mint due to lower costs, you would hope that they would throw the passengers a bone by dropping prices but they are too greedy on improving their bottom line. With the improving economy and more people flying the don't have much of a reason to drop prices.

No. Even though the price of oil has dropped quite a bit, it would really only be enough to lower the price of airfare maybe 4-7% at best.

Airlines often buy oil on contract years out to ensure supply/pricing locks to forecast.

I'm sure they are scooping up oil right now, but demand is also high, thus pricing isn't going to be much lower in the short-term.

Not gonna happen as long as they are still filling planes at the higher prices. Simple business.

They will not come down. The airlines are very happy to reap all the profits at the moment. Massive stock buy backs happening.
Planes are as full as ever, no reason to lower any revenue.

Very little competition from Milwaukee so I don't expect any better pricing.

I'm sitting at the gate in Minneapolis and was booked on a flight to Hartford. The flight is oversold and they offered $700 to take a later flight! I was the first to take it, delaying my return home by four hours. They needed five more people to volunteer and at this time are looking for two more.

With planes this full there's no chance the price of oil dropping will affect ticket prices.

Oil is going back up. Look for gas prices to raise 10% next week.

    An update.

They must have gotten desperate. They upped it to $800! I'm sitting in the Sky Club with my third Vodka Tonic (you pour your own...) and somehow I just finished two weeks of expenses (about $4K total, not including airfare). There were six passengers that got paid to volunteer to take the 715 pm flight. I was #3 on the list and they had started apparently offering $400. Then $500. I volunteered at $600. They upped it to $700 shortly thereafter. While boarding the Red Coat announced the last volunteer would get $800 but nobody jumped up.

After all the passengers had boarded the Red Coat announced everybody was going to get $700! Sweet! The girl next to me told me her ticket to California was $320. My two week long ticket - Hartford to Oakland (stay a week) Oakland to Salt Lake City (stay a week) then Salt Lake City to home was $493. She was ecstatic and showed me her $700 voucher. When I looked at mine, and looked at my online e-credits - it's for $800. I guess my Diamond, 3 Million Mile status helps!

Plus they stuck my ugly ass in First for the flight to Hartford tonight!

Still loyal to Delta. Undertsand Why?

    No.......
Consumers should also see a decrease in shipping/fright prices. Why are they going up for 2015? BS!!
