I have a good problem. I have 2 tickets to the hoops on the strip event at Planet Hollywood from Thursday 3/19 to Saturday. Also have 5 nights comped at Ballys from the 19th-24th. My problem is that I arrive in Vegas weds night 3/18. So I have to decide between 2 comps. 1 at South point or 1 at Main Street station. Or I can pay $24.00 plus fees at Silver Sevens. I know what the room/ hotels are like at both MSS and SP since I have stayed at both. I've asked a few questions about Silver Sevens and the opinions vary between nice rooms in the premium towers to roach invested in the "old" towers.

I want to be at PHo at 8 am to get my "hoops " wristbands. Not sure what the traffic looks like at 8 am and whether it's worse coming from South point or downtown - Main Street Station? So my dilemma is whether it's worth it to fight the traffic in the morning ( plus which direction is the lesser of the 2 in rush hour) or take a chance on Silver Sevens? I''ve heard horrible stories about rush hour traffic in Vegas. I've never tried to drive to the strip before in the am. Any help is appreciated.

Just ride the SDX bus up from MSS to PHo to pickup your wrist band, then get your car later
    OR
Drive up Maryland Parkway from downtown, then cut over on Harmon and come up the back way to PHo..easy peasy.

Traffic in Vegas can be very volatile. Looking at my window at Rio on morning, I could see the I-15. It was a lazy day of cars speeding along the highway. Looking out the window 5 minutes later, it was bumper to bumper traffic. When I stayed at South Point, I just cruised up Las Vegas Blvd to Bally's.

If you're in a rush, don't valet park at PH. Maybe it's improved but last time at their valet about 7 years ago it took about 30 minutes to retrieve the car.

I've never found traffic on the Strip to be any big deal in the a.m., in fact it always seems to be lighter than most of the rest of the day. I actually enjoy traveling the Strip 7-8 a.m. or thereabouts on my way to meetings. Lots of runners and walkers out, a few drunks and mostly delivery trucks. I'm not so sure you don't move faster or at least equally as fast north/south on the Strip as you do on Maryland at that time of day.

My brother and I made a similar trip from South Point to the north end of the strip a number of years ago at that time of day. There was very little traffic on the strip. You will really only need to adjust for traffic lights and very light traffic. Sorry but I can not speak about a trip from downtown at that time of day.

The I-15 will be busy but LVB itself won't be. You also have the option of Dean Martin if you are coming from South Point which also should be quiet. That's the way I get around if I am heading south in the morning.

South point will be much quicker, and at that time of day maybe a 10 minute trip door to door.

From MSS your quickest route will probably take you 15 - 20 minutes and it's not as straightforward as PH is on the East side of the strip. To Bally's easiest way is to take Paradise to Flamingo, and then turn into the Bally's Valet just before you get to LVB. Here again, at 8am should be no problem really.

If you chose MSS, drive down Main street and cut over to Paradise right before the Stratosphere . From there you get to Bally's via Flamingo (if your headed to the sportsbook parking lot or valet) or Harmon (if you're headed to self park).
