Booked another couple of weeks in vegas later this year. Will spend the majority at the Aria but enjoy down town so will spend 3 nights downtown.

    Options seem to be:
    - two nights free at the D with one night to pay (plus resort fee)
    - Golden Nugget Rush Tower but will have to pay for the three nights
    - other?

Never stayed downtown so open to suggestions - what say you vegas message board?

I still think the GN Rush Tower is the class of downtown (especially if you're coming from Aria). I haven't stayed at the D since back when it was Fitzgerald's, so can't comment on the room product, but it sure is a lively and loud casino (I like that).

Depends on what you're willing to compromise. GN will be nicer, but I'm always a sucker for free rooms. I stay at the D almost every trip and it's fine for me, but I'm rarely in the room.
GG Suites are also nice and if you're looking at a Sun-Thur stay you might be able to get a good deal on one of them.

I also like DT Grand - the rooms are nicer than the D and it's a little quieter.
