    Thinking cap on.

    Receipts all gathered up.

All forms have arrived in the mail.

    Time to file my taxes.

I don't know what happened or what special exemption has been granted, but Vanguard says the final numbers for their mutual funds and brokerage accounts won't be posted until 2/18. It used to be required by law that all forms should be delivered by January 31.

Doing mine today - then will start on family and relatives this week.

Does anyone else enjoy doing taxes like me? I enjoy the financial stuff and crunching numbers. Even doing trust taxes, though complex, is kind of a fun mental exercise.

Do you own any REITs? I think they have extra time to get their stuff out. Some take it some don't.

I started working on mine on Saturday. Mine is a little more complex this year and I am going to owe so I'm in no real hurry.

No, I don't own any REITS, just bond, stock funds & my last few individual stocks which I am slowly divesting myself of.

I can wait. So far I have to repay all of my Affordable Care Act subsidy, which amounted to $12,012 for 2014. For 2015 I chose zero and if we stay below the AGI limit, we'll get back $12,000. Now I just have to avoid any 4K Royals or quad aces with a kicker. Damn W2G forms.

I used to do my own taxes with TurboTax then got an IRS audit and had to pony up big, $21K! That had to do with misinterpreting several years of restricted stock options and two lost W2G's. Now I pay a CPA about $300 and I haven't had a problem in the past seven years.

    Very expensive lesson.

Calculus, differential equations, complex heat transfer problem: solved daily.
Taxes: beyond what this brain can comprehend!

Good news on the Vegas trip, Breeze!

I filed mine using TurboTax and my refund is supposed to be direct deposited this week. More cushion for the MM trip!

Did mine a week ago, got my refund today and using it for my Vegas trip. I do sales so my commissions are taxed heavily but I get a lot of money back. Excited to have a good time

Yup, that hit the wife, as she had covered CA for a few months in 2014, so it took $610 off our refund, bleh!
Stupid TurboTax can't even correctly file until 2/12 when they update their software to be able to calculate the 1095A...grrr

    Might even take longer...

TurboTax owner Intuit Inc. said Thursday that it is temporarily suspending the transmission of state e-filed tax returns in response to a surge in complaints from consumers who logged into their TurboTax accounts only to find crooks had already claimed a refund in their name.

I got my state back but I'm still waiting on federal. Getting nervous. And the link that TurboTax gave to check on the return was bogus.

Starting to get nervous about the Federal. Still shows as "Being Processed".
