    My Trip Report

The races are running at Oaklawn Park which also has had a casino for some time now. Every year my brother and I try to make a couple of trips to the races but I have only been in the casino once and it was just to see what it looked like. So Saturday we decided to head to the races and bet some horses. My game of choice is VP and I haven't had the opportunity to play in a while and thought while we were there I would check out the expansion and see what type of pay tables they had as I figured they would be bad. If I remember correctly I am pretty sure the pay tables at the .25 level were 8/5 DDB and 8/5 JOB and at the $1 they were 9/5. I figured while I was there I would run a 20 through before heading back to start betting the horses. I hit this just a little way in.

I cashed that out and met back up with my brother to start playing the horses. We had a rough go of it and hadn't cashed any tickets so after the 7th race I told him I was going to go back down to the VP and give it another try. I put in one 20 and didn't get anything but the second 20 produced another straight flush, which I neglected to get a picture of and this, and this.

So I cashed out with the following and made it back in time to bet the eight race.

So even though we didn't do well on the horses the VP was pretty good.

Also tried the Reuben without the bread it was very good.

In short I will probably not be making the trip to the racino just to play VP and save my money for Tunica and Vegas but will be stopping in for a quick VP hit and run when I am there for the horses.

    Thanks for reading!!

    Congrats on the win!

I love playing the ponies, I was actually playing Oaklawn via the local OTB yesterday but I didn't have the same result that you had. Arlington Park has pushed for the racino concept but they haven't been able to get it through , I'm sure it will happen eventually.

One of these years I'm going to take the summer of and visit ballparks and racetracks.

    Cheers.

Nice hits and paytables could have been worse! And at least they had IGT Game Kings. Southland Park had some no name brand for VP the time I went there ($20 freeplay for new members), so I wasn't even totally sure it was "Vegas style" VP. After some net sleuthing though, VP is like Vegas/Tunica there. But you gotta pay for drinks there, right? :evillaugh

Illinois political clout will make this take a long time...if ever.
