    My Trip Report

Originally, we were booked for 14 nights, but with only a few weeks to go, were informed our NY to Vegas flight was cancelled, so we had to add another night! We travel over from Edinburgh, with one change at Newark on this occasion every year for 2 weeks in Jan., this being our 18th annual trip.On this trip, we booked the Excalibur as we got a cheap deal. See my show reviews ( 10 shows) in the Shows and Entertainment section!

    ROOM
We used the $20 trick, but in our case $50 trick as we were staying so long and were upgraded to a high floor in Tower 2, which is the upgraded tower. Our room had a safe, ironing board etc. and was comfortable, but far from luxurious, a bit dated and made us wonder how bad the rooms in Tower 1 must be! Although we had read on Tripadvisor that the only internet access in your room is by a wired connection, we brought our Ipad and we were surprised but delighted that we got a decent free wifi connection throughout our stay! Luckily, we did not get charged a resort fee, in fact it wasn't even mentioned at check in or checkout as it would have been an extra $300 for us.

    HOTEL IN GENERAL

Yes, there were a fair amount of children in evidence, though not in the casino. More annoying were the timeshare reps. who are positioned by the lifts at both towers and we were amazed that the same staff didn't recognise us and continually asked us if we wanted " free shows" every single day! The hotel is in a good position, with the tram connection to Luxor and Mandalay Bay or you can use the bridges to connect easily to NY NY, Tropicana or MGM Grand. There are 2 good shows, Australian Bee Gees, Tournament of Kings and for girls or bachelorette parties Thunder from Down Under.

    SLOTS/ PLAYERS CLUBS IN VEGAS

We joined M Life Players Club at Excalibur and for the first time joined B Connected Players Club as we had heard they are quite generous and wanted to visit Sam's Town for the first time.We don't play the tables, only slots, normally sticking to 25c. Wheel of Fortunes, max. play to aim for the progressive! Occasionally we play Top Dollar, Money Mad Martians or King Cash for a bit of variety. In previous years we had only hit the 1000 credits section on WOF twice before, but this year we hit it 3 times - at Excalibur, Main St. Station and Gold Coast! Our biggest success came at Main St Station near the end of our hoilday, when we decided to go for glory on a $1 Megabucks slot, with a progressive of $ 10 million! On my wifes 3rd. spin, she won $720!

After 2 weeks, we amassed the grand total of $ 4.70 redemption from M Life, which we were informed we could only use in Starbucks, not receive in cash, but at B Connected, we received $20 cash with a lot less play, mainly playing at Gold Coast, which was a lucky place for us!

    LINQ High Roller

We are 52 and 50 respectively but are increasingly feel like dinosaurs as we prefer to use cash, not credit or debit cards! On our way along the Linq we tried 2 different ticket outlets, one a vending machine, one a staffed booth, neither of which accepted cash! On our third attempt, we bought tickets for $24.95 each. It was so quiet that we had a pod to ourselves, which was nice! It wasn't until you neared the top that you got good photos but it is a must- do attraction. The wheel doesn't stop for you to either get on or off, which we had read about in advance, but was still a real shock how fast they expect you to move! We could see real problems for elderly people, so be very careful indeed! I couldn't resist asking the girl who was standing watching me nearly tumble to the ground on getting off " So, how many people have you managed to kill so far then?!!!!"

Thanks for the trip report! I'd love to visit Vegas for 2 weeks but I'm afraid I'll tap out all my money, lol!

The Big Wheel comment about how many people have you killed cracked me up! I see this attraction as a one time thing for most people. I wonder how they will keep this thing profitable.

The $4.70 that you got with MLIFE is just your Express Comps. Before you check out go by the MLIFE desk and ask if there's anything they can comp based on your play assuming you've charged things to your room. It sounds like you pre-paid a package thru a 3rd party so your room itself can't be comped but meals or various charges to your room can be comped.
