I thought the rooms were pretty nice and some of the best downtown. Casino seems kind of plain to me though. I've not stayed at the Golden Nugget so those rooms might be better

I like DTG. I haven't had any gambling success there (yet) but I do like the rooms. I also like the coffee bar in the morning and there's ample seating just to hang out in that area in the morning. I think it's called commissary.

How much water gets on the floor with that goofy ass shower set up? I am staying there next month for two nights, thanks

I like the casino. Pit staff and dealers are very friendly. Nice atmosphere. Not sure if they updated their poor beer offerings at the bar or if their restaurants are open for more hours after they cut back hours awhile ago? Overall, nice place to gamble, but not a whole lot of people were there the dozen or so times I've been there.

Some, but it's less than you think.

Unless you flop around like a seal or walrus than all bets are off...

I thought the rooms were okay but too sparse, I preferred the Rush tower room at GN. As Iamrice said, not that much water got on the floor.

I didn't enjoy hanging out at the casino too much, it was okay but nothing interesting.

I fell in love with the place too. The rooms look very nice, my wife and I are not very picky so we enjoy them. We also like the vibe on the casino floor and what I mean by that is I like the Furnace Bar to play VP and the craps table is never too busy to bother me. My wife loves the pool area and I even enjoy it too. The best part for me is that if I want more action I am within a few minutes of MSS and their Boars Head Bar and the High Roller Gold micro.

Have they expanded their beer selection? I like the property but the beer selection was limited when I was there. No craft beers. No IPAs.

Have they opened their casino doors yet? When i was there in the spring, the doors were closed shut and blacked out. It wasnt a soft opening.. it was just that way. Makes no sense given the open nature of downtown casinos.

You were smoking some wild stuff that night, it has been over a year now they have been open. If memory is right it was fall of 2013.
Just checked Nov 12,2013 was opening. I hope a few more people visit so it stays open and can expand some

Anyone been there in the past few weeks? We were there in December and will be again the beginning of March. The mailer we got a couple of weeks ago touted "99+% Payback Video Poker." Have they gone back to trying this? They did briefly early last year, then quickly abandoned it. In December a few 99.1% 8/5 Bonus Poker machines were the best thing at the 25 cent level.

The doors facing FSE are that way...for some odd reason (the doors facing Pizza Rock)
I gave my wife's family, rooms there for our wedding...LOL, we only went in the one time (to check them in) and never went back...

I recently spent my first two visits at the Golden Nugget's Rush tower and I can tell from the pix that they are much swankier than DTG. The old saying that the room doesn't matter is true for me, but the GN was the first time my wife has been wowed by the room, and she has stayed at Caesars and Bellagio. I like the DTG because I see the old Lady Luck in her, the casino is nice and shiny, and the slot club had a bunch of free play, t-shirts and sweatshirts that were easy to earn. My only complaint was the poker bar drink service. Most places downtown we are treated like royalty with our dollar tip per drink. The bartenders at DTG didn't seem interested in serving us, but it was early in the day. Looking forward to reporting on my first stay.

i got my first taste of the DTG February of 2014. I was looking for a place to stay on a Saturday night and it was the only night of my 7 day trip I did not have comped so after checking their website I noticed the "best rate guarantee" that said if I find it anywhere cheaper on the net, I can get the room free. (Free night if staying 1 night or first night free if staying multiple nights). Thirty seconds later, I found it 15 dollars cheaper on a different website so I booked the DTG and emailed them about the "best rate guarantee" and within 12 hours I had a response and my room was free. SCORE! The casino was smaller which I did not mind, but they did over book and stuck me in an ADA room, which, as you can tell with their "unique" shower set up, meant nice water all over. I also like the fact it's a block off of FSE which helps cutting down having to deal with multiple drunk people stumbling around in a stupor.

I also stayed in June 2014 and again in August of 2014. (As my play apparently was enough to get me free nights!) In September of 2014 I was contacted by a "director of player development" asking me to be his personal guest at the DTG. i was planning to come in October for the Life is Beautiful festival but due to a death in the family, was unable to go. I was just told to let this person know when I was coming out again and something could be set up. (Somehow this person thought a blackjack tournament would get me interested. I only had played slots and my 5 to 10 dollars a spin for a few hours at a crack must of showed up on someone's radar). I did email this person in December, twice, with no response. Then after doing a google search I find out the director of player development was someone new. So I reached out through facebook and the DTG confirmed there was a "head of player development" and who he was. I figured maybe the person that originally contacted me has been let go seeing as there had been some management changes. I emailed the new person that was apparently the boss of the person that originally contacted me and copied the first email and asked if something like that could be set up. It's been 3 weeks and I have not received a response. Leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, to not even get a response after being told to contact them. Atleast I received my Feb offers and will be using those. Maybe it's time to find a new home in Downtown Las Vegas.

    RedRock702,

Sucks, right? We've stayed there three times since the remodel. The impression I get is that some big boss is very impatient. They can't seem to stick to a format long enough to give it a chance to succeed. Reading this board, it sounds like who gets mailers is determined by pulling names out of a hat. We've got three nights comped in March thanks to a mailer my wife got. I get nothing from them, not even emails, even though I play a lot more than her.

I like playing in their casino, but the personnel I encounter generally seem as confused as us when I have to ask anything. They appear to have a fair level of turnover on the floor as well. The S+O restaurant serves decent food, but the service is chronically slow even when not busy. I hope they succeed. If I were overseeing operations I'd pick a format and commit to it for six months minimum, then focus on the basics like training and customer service for front-line personnel.

Im talking about the actual, physical doors. I know it was open since i was playing BJ there. People kept walking in and asking the dealer "are you guys open? everything looks closed". The dealers sighed and said.. "yes.. we are open. everyone asks us that.. the door are just shut and blacked out for some reason"
