So with Silver Strike you can either get those 'collectable' 10 dollar tokens and rarely a real silver coin these days, right?

All except the red capsuled or "red caps" are silver plated brass.

30 clad tokens can be turned in for a $300 (6 ozt. silver) strike.

See my latest trip report for more than you want to know about Silver Strikes.

Oh lordy... He is WAY too full of himself if he is having his ugly mug printed on these strikes.

That is the only thing that I disliked about the "new" Venetian/Palazzo strikes. He is prominently displayed on all of them, even the $300.

Even Steve Wynn thinks this is over the top.

The only things that brings me back to V/P is Noodle Asia and the mango pudding at Zine.

Thanks, DaiLun! Wouldn't have read that otherwise since you mentioned 'work' in the title. Great report! So for a non-collector the red caps and the six ouncers would be the only ones for someone just interested in acquiring real silver, right?

That is correct. Those with silver in them have .999 fine silver stamped on them.

In the beginning, .999 was stamped on the brass outer ring, which caused a stir since .999 silver has to be stamped on the portion that actually is .999 silver.

Stratosphere has a complete set (20 strikes) that is stamped with .999 silver on the brass rim, and had to re-do them all with .999 fine silver on the center. So, a complete set of Stratosphere would be 41 strikes (one was minted in 2000 after the change was in effect)

The left one is .999 silver center, the right one is .999 silver rim. Both the centerpieces are .999 silver in the center and have brass rims.
