40th birthday bash (pool required)

We'll be planning a party for a friend this summer and will be headed to Vegas. The main requirement from the birthday girl is a hotel w/ a nice pool, cabana, and upbeat music (this rules out most of my downtown properties). Doesn't need to be one of those pool party things with a DJ, but we don't want a quiet pool for relaxing; looking for something that caters to 30/40 yr olds that like to have a good time.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Only place that comes to mind that isn't a pool party is Boulevard Pool at Cosmo.

Thanks. never considered Flamingo so now it's on the list. Cosmo was on the list (only because I've seen that pool in the off season) but it's good to have a desc to go along with it.

Mirage and TI would be on my short list as well. Mirage has a nice pool and the cabanas aren't nothing to scoff at either. The TI pool isn't fancy, but can be a fun place. Plus, the cabanas are reasonably priced... for cabanas.

Was it the Flamingo that had a minimum spend on their cabanas to get one without any fee? I want to say something like agree to spend $500+ on food/beverages to get the cabana with nothing else, where most others are the fee plus whatever you spend on top of it.

 

Go Pool specifically as it is 21 and over at Flamingo and Monte Carlo.

I favor Monte Carlo due to the cost of the cabana is included in the food and beverage minimum while Flamingo wanted us to pay for the cabana only, get 1 bottle with it and a fruit tray and then start a tab for all of the food and drinks the remainder of the day.

Wife and her gf's loved Monte Carlo's due to the lazy river.

You don't have to stay at Monte Carlo or Flamingo in order to rent a cabana.

 

good info - this is for a 40 yr old wifey. it will be couples, but we're trying to cater to female appetites

 

I had my 40th at Mandalay Bay in an upstairs Cabana. The one we had includes an air conditioned room with a stripper pole, fyi.

 

Flamingo is a great fit for your needs.

^^^ This ^^^ The Villa Soleil cabanas are amazing. And you can stay on the MB property at Delano or Four Seasons to get nicer, updated rooms and suites. Another plus for females is that MB has three spas on the property - Spa Mandalay, The Bathhouse, and the Four Seasons Spa.

 

I felt like the Flamingo catered to more 20somethings than the 30-40s age bracket. They sell water footballs at the pool supply booth for the college boys to throw around in the pool. They have a catwalk in the pool for a butt shaking contest. The lounge chairs are packed close.

MGM Grand has about five different pools with different atmospheres. You can party on the lazy river and check out the tattoos or lounge in a well appointed cabana. It is a nice complex.

Mirage is very nice also. Most of the cabanas are set back from a pool view but supplied well. I had good drink service and I really liked the shrimp wrap at the cafe there. The music is upbeat but not overwhelmingly loud.

It sounds like a good time. I had a cabana for my 40th with about 25 friends and family rolling in and out. One of my favorite Vegas memories.

 

Tell me more about Monte Carlo - the room prices seem reasonable and it looks like they have some good dining choices.

Are the rooms nice? What about the table limits?
and do they have 3:2 BJ?

 

If there isno budget i go with Wynncore. The over 21 pool areas are both awesome and is better then all other luxury hotels on the strip.

 

Unless something has changed, you have to be a guest of Wynn or Encore to use those pools.
