Last year, what was the best "free" March Madness party that you attended?

It looks like I'm gonna have to pass on the CET "Hoops on the strip" because the wifey wants to stay there (Bally's) from Saturday 3/21, when she arrives (3 days after me) - to Weds so that's gonna take up my 5 nights comp (which eliminates the chance that I can use my 3 night Hoops offer from 3/18-21). So I'm trying to find out where some of you went to last year to get your Hoops fix that had free admission and had A - Plenty of seats, B- A ton of large screens all over the place, C- Betting stations/sportsbook close by and D - Cheap eats ( I don't drink so beer/drink specials aren't required).

I figure no need in trying to reinvent the wheel since many of you have been to Vegas for March Madness before and have found some great venues to watch the games! I'm especially interested in any opinions of any of the Boyd/Stations venues!!!

 

It's off the strip but South Point checks all your boxes. They have a great set up there. Have also heard Gold Coast has a nice free set up, but I've never been there.

 

A few years back we went over to LVH. Stadium seating, decent food/beer prices. Can't recall if they charged to get in, but if they did it wasn't more than $10.

 

If you don't mind going downtown, El Cortez is a solid play. Been there many times for March Madness games; their Fiesta Room is open and offers cheap eats/drinks, along with tables/chairs to sit and watch the games. This is in addition to the sportsbook, which isn't fancy but is pretty straightforward and generally isn't too crowded.

 

Second the LVH, Westgate, or whatever it's called this week. They have a huge sports book with more screens than you can count. It's fun to be there during March Madness trying to figure out which game someone is screaming or cheering about, or screaming and cheering on your own tickets. Haven't been in about three or four years, so things may have changed, but they had cheap food, good drink service, and excellent video poker right in the sports book.

 

Also, the other decent Downtown choice is at the Plaza. Decent-sized book and a nearby bar to boot. It has a different vibe than the Nugget ... I keep meaning to hit up 'Curtis' the host over there; might have to do that this time around.
