    My Trip Report

So this drive to Harrah's AC was a bit more.. shall we say interesting as I brought my roomate who insisted upon wearing a suit in the casino (I told him repeatedly not to be one of those guys, but he was and I accompanied him in a shirt, jeans and worn out dress shoes). Drive wasn't bad, left downtown DC (if you know DC, people get the hell out of there quickly on a Friday) at around 2pm and somehow didn't encounter any traffic once we hit Baltimore. Arrived in AC at around 5pmish, right when the buildings have the lights on them :D. Checked into my 2 bedroom Bayview tower room, comped, then proceeded as follows:

Tried to get a quick workout in as it normally helps me get loaded for longer during the night but after 20 mins and us being the only two people there, save for an overzealous weirdo who was running in circles between sets of pull ups, we said frig it and went back to the hotel room. Showered, went downstairs and tried to meet up with jerseyguy and his wife- who were at the golden nugget it turned out hah- and caught the Jitney (no sign of the TR shuttle- is this because it's winter? Didn't even see the usual stop outside the entrance for it..) to Caesars/Ballys for a quick Johnny Rockets sandwich then...gambol time.

Started playing some blackjack, it's not 7:30pm and beginning to get a crowd, for about 2 hours.. left up only around $100 or so (I play 50-100 per hand, the roomate in a suit played table min- ironic?). However, I left quite inebriated which was a start. Took the Jitney (high class) back to Harrah's as we were both lit and didn't want to walk more than 100 feet to an elevator where we finally would sleep. This is where it became interesting.

We saw a rowdy table of people, it was a 15 dollar min so my roomate could play. There were two seats, and the four people playing were betting from 200-500 a hand, at a 15 dollar min table. Let me take a pause and say that I love this. People who clearly know how to play the game and have money but STILL prefer to play out in the open pit areas for the atmosphere rather than secluded in the HL room. My roomate bought in for $120 (no idea why he brought 500) and me $1000. I was feeling good mind you, at this point 8 drinks in so I'm almost to that sweet spot where things are just amazing. Well, my roomate proceeds to be about even with his $120. Meanwhile, I lose around $960 within 45 minutes.. Down to my last 40 (before a potential rebuy which I didn't want to do) as my doubles, splits, 20s you name it would NOT work against this dealer grrr. Then, the comeback happens. I somehow turn that last 40, which was my final bet, back into $1500. Bingo! I could not miss on the next shoe. It was amazing, to the point that while I stayed about even for the next 3-4 hours, and consequently satisfied my required play for the continual comps, not to mention having an awesome time with a lively time that knew basic strategy.

This point in the night, my roomate is down something like 50 dollars but having a great time...so great that he asks the dealer if he can briefly stand on the seat and make a toast (no idea either). He's already 6'6, so this would clearly draw attention. The dealer politely says no and the pit boss, whose somehow there whereas he wasn't anywhere near 3 seconds ago, seconds it. Thankfully, roomate doesn't do it and we end up coloring up at 2am. I'm up like $550, which while not amazing, is a fun comeback.

He goes back to the room and I go into the diamond cove thing they have (still not sure if it's the Diamond Lounge or just a place with HL slots lol). Play some VP on $5 dollars per credit (25 per hand), win another 400 in about 10 minutes (who knows, could be more or less) and went to bed. Fun 3 hour drive back to DC the next morning hungover as hell but I won close to 1k so I'm good with it. Bought my gf some flowers too which was received happily.

Note: I WILL be back to Harrah's AC next Friday, another comp night in Bayview 1/30. let me know if anyone is around and wants to meet up. Still haven't met a VMB'er hahaa

Sounds good jersey, lemme know as I'll definitely be there and will take you up on some VP in the X bar since my single deck BJ game is literally right outside.

Jim- I grew up in Charlotte before I moved to DC about a year ago and I visited Cherokee a few times and didn't mind it, at least the blackjack tables. I agree it does suck that they stop serving alcohol at 2am because it is the south and in the government's grand wisdom, somehow that will stop people from losing control lol. Also it's is that it's in the middle of nowhere, like an hour past Ashville, but yes I agree AC is superior as far as CET properties go.

Just to let you know, CET has permanently cancelled the Total Rewards shuttle between Harrah's and the Boardwalk casinos. I guess they figured that since the Showboat is gone and Caesars and Bally's are connected, there wouldn't be as much call for the shuttle anymore. Such a shame.
