    My Trip Report

Apparently, I should always come to town for MLK weekend. Last year, I had a ridiculous win, my biggest ever: https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/showthread.php?102013-Aria-TR-Summarized-with-One-Pic

This year, well, here is the pic:
    20150121_135458.jpg

Not quite as big a win as MLK weekend last year, but pic worthy nonetheless. Plus, I feel like I should get extra credit for trying to squeeze my VMB wristband into the frame, lol. Seriously, I have had a tremendous few days in Vegas. I debated whether to do a TR at all. I quickly decided not to do a live TR because of superstition (my last live TR this summer was a disasterous trip gambling-wise) and because people were probably already reading a certain other live TR from this weekend. But after a six figure win, I decided at least a TR mini was in order. Here are a few observations/thoughts from this trip:

*Tried 800 Degree pizza at Monte Carlo and was disappointed. Its not bad. The pizza was ok. I just expected more. Definitely not a destination for pizza lovers.

*Wow, why is the line for shake shack out the door? Its just a hamburger, people. I don't get it.

*Decided to check out SLS Sunday night. While I admire the effort and its a huge upgrade over the waning years of the Sahara, that place is a graveyard. Not single person in the high limit. Granted, it was a Sunday, but there were still a lot of people in town following the football games. The activity and energy level in the casino was on par with, say, Monte Carlo. There's nothing wrong with that. But I can't imagine that's what the owners are going for. Plus, the place was kinda dirty. That's a surprise considering how long it has been open. I was hoping for more.

*Talked to my host the other night about some marketing stuff and he revealed to me just how much international marketing is crushing domestic marketing. That's where they get their biggest players, by far. He said the biggest player they had in the casino last year lost 64 million in 20143. Wow. I just can't imagine gambling that much. Insane.

*As expected, this week is part of the lull before super bowl. Everyone I asked told me things start picking up again next Wednesday. Right now, everyone is just resting up to prepare for the onslaught of gamblers.

I leave first thing in the morning. Got a few NBA bets going tonight, so will probably head down to the book to watch them. Certainly done gambling for this trip. This week is one of my top ten wins ever, so I want to lock it in. Last year, between MLK weekend and the super bowl, I started the year up over $140k from gambling. Despite that, I finished the year in the red (by a significant amount). Between this trip and my Tunica jaunt a couple weekends ago, I am again up significantly. I am going to spend some time before the super bowl trip in a few days considering reducing my gambling for the coming year. I am still kicking myself for giving back all that money last year. A long flight home tomorrow should give me plenty of time to ponder that ....

    Faaaaaantastic win, man. Congrats.

That is some serious chip porn.

Did you win it all on blackjack? Any crazy hands like the one from Tunica a few weeks ago??

BJ was the most generous. Biggest hit was one $8k hand that I split and doubled for a 24k win. That was actually early on the trip and I was chasing. But that was the only chasing I did. Also won at craps, sports, and roulette. Hit one big number at Aria earlier today for over 5k. That was fun!

Just the one IO described in a prior post. Few other splits and double downs, but no wild ones other than the 24k hit. Did press a few times and hit for 6k wins on two different hands. Just one of those lucky, hot trips.

Thanks everybody for the well wishes. Even my final NBA bets tonight are going well, so it looks like I might add another 1k to my pocket! Typing this from the book. Hope I didn't just jinx the Mavericks and my wager, lol

Those trips where everything just falls into place are exhilarating - you could probably walk up to the Big Six wheel and drop a banana onto the 40-1 and nail it right now lol

I hope you didn't bet on the Sixers...I did. Blah.

Nice win! What did you play? Seriously I just need to mimic whatever you do, I'll even give you a cut (or a nice massage if you prefer :evillaugh).

I imagine by that time $64 million will be peanuts. :poke:

Edited: I see you already answered what games you played up-thread.

Actually, I had the under in that game and won by the skin of my teeth. Sixers had an out of bounds play with six seconds left. And in Sixers recently typical style, they threw the ball away! Fortunately for me, the coach told them not to foul in the final couple seconds!

UK nice chip porn. Congrats on the win. Also good to see you were able to win it on a number of games even adding some roulette in the mix.
