Been away for awhile and now that I'm thinking of a new trip and have received an interesting offer from the Golden Gate I've come back seeking info from this wonderful board. The offer is for 3 nights in a Golden Gate Suite with some free play and food credit. I'm having a problem finding much detailed info on these rooms. When I get to Vegas I stay at the Nugget and really like it, but free after all is free and the Nugget only offers Carson Tower rooms and only 2 nights with no free play. The GG suites are apparently newly remodeled and have fridges. Anyone stay in one of these lately? Can you give any advice on what to expect? TIA

Thanks for the info and photos. Coffee is even more important than fridge. How about internet?

There are some pics in my latest Trip Report from New Years Eve if you want to take a peek. I like them. Although when I'm drunk I forget which door is the bathroom and which one is the shower. They also come with Fiji waters, fancy coffee makers and there is a fridge. Hope this helps. The showers are nice and big with a roof top shower head.

You might want to double check your offer to be sure they are offering you a suite instead of one of their regular rooms...there is a big difference between the two. The suites were part of the expansion of the hotel a couple of years ago, so the are very new. I've stayed in both a regular room, and in one of their suites last September. The suites are located in the rear of the building; they are roomy and quiet. The regular rooms have been remodeled and are nice, but quite small; especially the bathrooms...I've always had problems in adjusting the water temperature with their showers. I've found the best rooms are toward the rear of the hotel and facing Main St. as far as noise issues. The rooms that face the FSE offer an interesting view, but they usually have music blasting away until 1-2 in the morning...forget about getting any sleep. The problem with the rooms on the east side of the building (facing the alley) is that they empty the trash dumpters around 4:30 A.M. and make one hell of a racket. Hey, if the Gate is going to give a free suite for 3 nights...I'd jump all over that offer.

Suite - YES!! Regular room - no way, unless the bathrooms have been updated recently. The only one I saw was pretty nasty.

I do like the vibe there and enjoyed the suite!

Thanks all for the replies. The offer is 3 any time nights or 3 Mon - Thur nights in a suite. Obviously I'll go with the suite offer since it fits my time frame. Couple of additional questions, does the GG charge the resort fee on comped rooms and is Dupars the only restaurant on property? TIA

There is a comprehensive review with pictures on the suites at GG on Vegas Chatter.

Grab that offer and run with it!

Stayed in a GG suite last year on my own $. Best location downtown (IMHO), fun casino, abc store next door for take out drinks, and love how quick it is to get to your room, and it was very quiet.

Just checked my GG offer again and realized it was the suite also - missed that on the first read! Thanks for letting me know.

My question - how many suites do they actually have? Do they guarantee you will get a suite? If so, I would go for it. If there is a chance it won't be available on check-in, I would be a little nervous.

Anyone know the answers to these questions? if not, I will call them. Thanks!

The suite offer was in my latest mailer. We are headed out to a conference and I have been "room shopping"--looking for the best offer available. The Aria is our first choice of hotels BUT it is too big of a hit in the bankroll to make it work this time, since I also have to save for summer vacation.

I called about the suite and actually got four nights Tue-Fri comped. It does come with a room confirmation that looks like this:

    "Room Description: GG GG SUITE"

I have heard from numerous hosts that suites can be taken away if the weekend is busy enough but I have never seen that written anywhere about the Golden Gate. I guess we will see what happens...

Thanks ronc - let us know what happens.

I do like the suites. My sister-in-law and I shared one. A little awkward - I had the King bed which was awesome, but she ended up on the pull out couch. The bath area is a bit different, but it worked fine.

Good luck on the room and enjoy your visit!

I received this same offer. Very excited to try out the suites at GG. I usually stay at the D but spend most of my time playing at the GG!

    I believe they've got 16 suites.

I also was worried about booking and them not having it available, but didn't have a problem last year during a busy Saturday.

Can I ask what kind of play is generating these suite offers?

just a guess - $40 avg bet @ BJ 4-6 hours a day (with some craps sprinkled in). trips are typically 3-4 nights long, three to four times a year.
