What does it take to get MLife Noir?

I've been MLife Platinum for the past several years. I always exceed the threshold for Platinum by many, many points yet haven't heard a thing about Noir. Is there a hard number of tier points that you need to get above Platinum to qualify for Noir? Or are there multiple variables involved?

I'm obviously not going to play more to get to Noir - I really don't care that much about it. I'm just curious what the gap between my "normal" play and what is needed for Noir really is...

 

An invite. Not to sound flippant, but that's what it takes. To get that invite, well, if there is a set formula, I am not aware of it. A review of the comments of some of the bigger players on this Board a few years ago when the mlife program started, it sounds like MGM ended up with way more NOIR level players than anticipated. so they made that level invite only and started cutting back on the number of players who qualify.

One of my hosts told me a couple years ago that before October each year, each host submits a list of their players that should qualify as NOIR and then the management reviews those lists. So step one, obviously, is get a host if you do not have one. Next step is play a lot (FWIW, I have accrued between 3 and 5 million TC each year that I have been NOIR and never had an issue getting renewed).

Ultimately, however, Platinum is basically just as good. You get the same benefits and its really based on your play. The lower tier properties, I think you get a bit more noticed and maybe better service than their other customers, but that's about it. At Aria and Bellagio, there are so many NOIR players, you don't really stand out. at Mandalay Bay and to a lesser extent at MGM Grand, you get a little more notice. When I played or stayed at NYNY this past year, I was the only table player there (that I saw) who had a NOIR card and I noticed the staff went out of their way for me. But that easily could have been because on certain days, I was likely the biggest player in their casino.

 

Rumor is, it takes between 100k and 150k of annual theo to be considered

 

I was NOIR in the past. A few nicer perks. This year they opted to not renew me. As I look back, I think they just saved me thousands of dollars. I have been thinking of writing the idiot that made the final decision and thank him/her. It really is going to be a blessing.

Yup, I think that's the hard & fast rule...$120k+ of theo. (LoL, that's $10k of theo PER MONTH!)
Mathematically, on video poker (Giving that theo on their 9/6 JoB multiline @ MGM is around 3%), you'd need to run around $4.8M coin-in, in a year...
To put it into perspective, if I've got my numbers right, PLATINUM is only $200k coin-in...

I didn't get an invitation. I had been on a few trips in early '14 that put me up to a few million TCs, and I was still Platinum. But, I didn't really care one way or the other. Then one night I tried to use my Platinum card to cut a line somewhere and the nice lady told me "NOIR only". So I emailed my host and asked what the process was. He told me he'd check into it for me, or something. I was NOIR on the next visit. Who knows if it'll stick for next year but I average 1M TCs a visit or sometimes a little more.
