    Hi

Just booked for 2015, booked way in advance but got a deal I could hardly believe so I'd be a fool not to take it. Only "problem" really is that I'll be staying south strip and I normally stay "Up North". Up there I find plenty of cheap beers and as a frugal chap I was wondering where I can find a cheap beer way down south. I'm talking cheap like in the $2 range, so would really appreciate any thoughts you might have.

I don't stand on ceremony, my favourite places for cheap beer are Ellis Island, Stage Door and Casino Royale so I certainly have a level. Will be taking the bus up to Millers Ale House of course, but would be great to have somewhere a short wander from the Excal/NYNY/MGM/Trop corner.

    Cheers all

    TNU

There is an ABC Store across the street from Monte Carlo north of MGM. You can buy two 24 oz tallboys for $5 total. Can't get any cheaper than that.

Are you talking about for in your room, walking around, or hanging out like bars etc.?

For in room, there is a mini mart store across the street from the Luxor/Excalibur with decent prices on 12 packs and stuff.

For walking the ABC store as mentioned and also a souvenir store right next to MGM has good deals on tall boys.

For hanging out best I can think of is Hooters. They usually have cheap beer and other things. Its a bit of a hike though. Dicks has a Happy Hour and there are usually guys handing out BOGO coupons as you enter Excalibur. Other then that not a lot of cheap places in that area.

Hooters usually has some cheap beer specials, but I doubt you'll have much of a selection.

Or you could just play a penny slot machine for a few minutes and get a top shelf beer for the cost of just the tip for the CW ...

Thanks guys, forgot about Hooters. If there's happy hour at DIck's that would probably suit too.

Was just somewhere to sit and have a drink, in room boozing will be me supping the Duty Free I picked up on the flight out.

    Quick Q, what's "the CW"

Check out one of the recent happy hour threads (I used to have an app that posted local happy hours - loved it!) and see if there are any others nearby.I seem to recall that the IRish pub at NYNY had cheap(er) beers in the afternoon on weekdays at one point?

We have the exact same taste in cheap joints!

The cab drops us off at Stage Door every trip nothing better than a Busch and a shot for $2 and some cheap bar food to get a trip underway.

As it's been said ABC down on the south end is about the only place we've found for cheap drinks w/out gambling . they need a Stage door at NY/NY or something lol

The Grand Canyon Experience store sells 4 Miller High Life cans (16oz) for $5. The rest of their beer is similar priced to ABC. It's right next to MGM between M&M World.

My strategy is to drink quickly while walking between establishments, drink slowly while inside bars.

For example, I might have 1 or 2 drinks while in hotel room getting ready, and a road pop while making my way to the strip. Then I would hit up a bar and have a drink or 2. Then swing by Walgreens or 7-eleven for another road pop. ... and so on.

This works best when bar hopping, which is what I tend to do -- go from place to place. If I am going to park myself in a single spot all night, I try to get a nice buzz before arriving and then drink at a decent pace to keep my buzz. Saves me a few bucks but not much.

Good Beer is to be had at Ellis Island. Their craft beers are some of the best I've had and i've had them all over the world. Put a twenty in the Bar Top and play VP , Blackjack or Keno for a buck a beer (tip) while you slow play at the bar. You might even win a modest jackpot to cover the tips. I've done it more times than I can remember.

True. However, not relevant to the original post as Ellis Island is not an easy walk from South Strip.

Couldn't agree more, was looking/hoping form something like Ellis Island South Strip but I fear that it's simply not to be found. All that being said I love Ellis Island and, since my OP, have discovered that I can get a bus from pretty much opposite Excalibur/Luxor which takes you along Koval and therefore makes Ellis Island significantly more accessible from South Strip

I have heard lots of different deals about Todd English Pub, but nobody confirmed. Can anybody say for certain some if the deals there?

Especially the drink a beer in under 7 seconds and it's free...anybody confirm that? Is there a limit on how many you can do that for free? I may be getting tanked for free next time!!

When I passed Todd English in October I am 99% sure they still had the "down a pint in seconds and it's free" offer on one of the boards outside. Sadly, there's no way I could do that, I'm a medium pace drinker, not a sprinter!
