We have been going to Station casinos for many years and have pretty much confined ourselves to RR and GVR recently. We used to get great offers like free rooms, buffets, free play, invites to Super Bowl, 4th of July, etc at Red Rock. Within the last couple of years, all we've been offered are free rooms even though our play had increased. We're getting much better offers at MGM props lately.

My question is, for those of you who play there, how have your comps been lately?

seems to me the station casino's have resorted to haing you ask for things versus sending great mailers. Esp for table players.
I give plenty of action to station casinos (esp Sante Fe) but never get a decent mailer but when I ask for a comp they never say no.
My observation anyway. I do not ask for rooms but food and cig comps have always been given.

Asking doesn't ever help us. We have a casino host and asked for the Super Bowl party. Answer was "no". She said that we play much more at Sunset (hardly ever go there) and we should take the SB offer that we have from them.

You know that is what is confusing to me. Why doesn't station give comps at any station casino irregardless where the play is.
I wish they just lumped all play together. All gambling goes to same company. Sunset send me more free rooms and yet I do my
least amount of play there and defiantely more infrequent. I don't think we are ever suppose to completely understand these comps.
But it is still better than any midwest casino would give. They might give me a free hot dog.

I ran into a similar situation with Station casinos a few years ago. I used to get RFB at Red Rock casino for 3 visits a year for over 4 years. Then my host left and I was assigned a different host. From that point on, I could not even get a free room even though my gambling increased. I was a $50 a hand BJ player and also played $1 Video Poker for may hours each day. All I could get was a discounted room and a few freee buffets. When you throw in the $25 a night resort fee and having to rent a car, it was no longer worth staying there anymore. it is a shame because I really enjoyed my time there. The pool area, rooms and restaurants were all good and the service was top notch.

Yes, sometimes these comps are an enigma. One of my sons playing nickel vp and much less time then me on .25 and $1 used to get better room comps than me at the PS.

I guess they really do "love locals" because we out-of-towners are getting the shaft. I think some of it is due to the restructuring several years ago and some is due to the large convention base they how have. The new mall next door is probably bringing in some new local business too. It's a shame because we really love it there.

I think Nand zoned in on their strategy as we recently relocated here and just about everyday we can show up at Stations or Fiesta and get something...free play, food discount, contest/drawing, give-away, etc. Tomorrow it is a bottle of Grand Marnier for 200pts in play and two bottles for 550pts.

Stations and Fiesta do send us separate mailers, but the points earned at each roll up together. The one difference there is that every six months your level goes back to zero so if you had a lot of play during (for instance) a stay in March 2014, it makes sense that you would not be receiving anything now.

One bit of new news, at GVR they are upgrading their restaurants to include Pizza Rock (named as a Top 50 in the US) and also a renowned Mexican fusion restaurant (same one that is at RR.

I would guess it's for the same reason at any casino "group". Why would Aria give comps to me if I'm playing at Luxor.

Casinos operate as separate entities for certain income groups, and gaming, hotel and restaurant are separate in the casino's eyes.

In Aug 2014, RR got a new Player Development manager, and a new VP of slots. Since then the promo's and comps have been cut drastically. The machines have gotten tighter, When a current slot attendant brought up to the new VP of slots that locals were complaining about the tight slots and the poor promos, he comment was.. "if they don't like it they don't have to come back".
RR has drawings with electronic tickets, and you earn tickets through your play, hence the more $$ you run through the machines, the more tickets in the drawings.
for the past 3 years I have been keeping track of the player card #'s who win the drawings. ( I know, get a life right) but, putting all the winning numbers on an excel spread sheet, I have noticed that the same 26 numbers win all the drawings. So then I started watching those people and where they play. those 26 people play in the high limit rooms. playing anywhere between $15-$40 per pull. When these people don't win a drawing they have a temper tantrum and threaten to take their $$$ to Suncoast, or Rampart. So to keep these same 26 happy and keep their $$ at RR. they are chosen winners in all the drawings, which are advertised to be random.
I contacted the gaming commission about the "coincidence" of the same 26 people winning all the drawings, with my documentation of proof, and the response I got was… "we don't have any control/input on drawings". I then asked my casino host about the 26 people who win all the time, and he looked up some of their accounts, and told me these people spend about $3,500 per week at RR. So when RR advertises we love locals, they love wealthy locals.
The formerly democrat controlled NV legislative branch put the clamps on all casinos giving comps and wanted both casino and customer to pay taxes on those comps. Now the NV legislative branch is in the other parties hands and vowed in campaign promises to reverse the comp rules. We shall see what happens.

    and your point is??
I've noticed the same thing at many casinos...the same people win each monthly drawing...and when you looked into it, you saw..these people play (read: lose) a LOT of money, so of course the casino wants to keep THEM happy.
Casino "drawings" are 100% unregulated, as is free play redemptions (Come in and receive between $5-$500; never seems to be more than $5, even though realistically it should.)

I find it hard to believe that the state of Nevada has no rules regarding drawings or sweepstakes. If they are advertised to be random and they arent, someone can go after them. Just depends on who has the will.

I don't think it specifically advertises it ever to be "random"...I think the closest they've ever come to saying something to that effect is "All it takes is one ticket to win!"
I always like the old fashion ones, that have ACTUAL PAPER TICKETS, so it's harder for them to "fix" it (although, like I said, it DOES happen even with that setup)

I've noticed the Stations offers drying up too. Same play...less offers. Iy used to be that you could book any station online if you had comped room offers. Then, for me, they narrowed it down to Palace Station, RR GVE and Sunset or Sante fe ( or a moxture of 2/3). Now its just Red Rock although ive done GVR and Santa fe in the past 18 months.

I currently have 2 days comped waiting for me at RR Mar 23-25th. I'm thinking about canceling that and staying an extra night at Bally's then moving to Orleans. CET treats me best with Boyd 2nd and Stations a distant 3rd.
